New Klub Kevlar Project.
« on: February 15, 2011, 04:23:44 pm »
Klub Kevlars Grand Poo-Bah Uncle Frank Stanborough has ordered the frame for his new pre 65 project. Because Rickmans and Cheneys seem to have become "frame du joure" for the pre 65 class and already owning his Manx Norton Metisse masterpiece anyway, Frank's decided to go with an Arthur Harris replica MoJo frame to house the Matchless G85 engine for his new project. MoJo was Pat French's apprentice at Metisse and after Pat died he went out on his own. Seeing that Rickman and Cheney were already being made elsewhere, he chose to replicate the little known Arthur Harris frame from the sixties. To me they're a bit funky looking compared to a Metise or Cheney but I reckon Frank'll get it looking right. He's using a Lyta tank instead of the odd looking MoJo item and proper alloy 'guards instead of the plugly plastic things on the bike in the photo.

I know why it has caught your eye Firko, very Maico'ish.
Great looking beast though and I'm sure anything Frank turns his hand to will be a beauty.
Love anything ESO/JAWA.

from the eye of the beholder,
I could look at those two pictures all day long.

There is just something so sexy about the big 4 bangers from this Era.

I've got a complete, ready to go 66 JAWA engine and would love to build something along these lines.
The big question is, would that engine be pre 65 legal?????

I don't see a lot of Maico in it nor do I think it's beautiful but beauty's in the eye of the beholder ;D. I like it because it's something a bit different from the usual pre 65 fodder and for the nice frame workmanship. Frank's using a Matchless engine, he's the guru on these things. Your 2v Jawa is absolutely legal for pre 65. Theoretically only sand cast case ESO's should be legal but the rulebook allows all 2v Jawas which is fine by me, the more the merrier.

ps...I just realised that I forgot to call you. Sorry mate, I'll ring you tomorrow.

I like the Mojo frame as something different from grist of the mill Cheneys and Rickys.

Swingarm looks kinds RM250 B, frame has a Spartan look about it and we are not talking the 300 here. I like that tank, b44 with space for your knees. I would like one.

Anybody who's seen any of Franks other bikes will know just how nice this'll look for CD9. He reckons it's his last project but he said that with his Greeves NSU.

What have you heard about CD9?

I've heard that Tasmania is beautiful in June…  ;)

…and I can't wait to see what Frank comes up with!
