'84 KX500
« on: January 19, 2011, 10:06:41 pm »
Here's another project i finally got around to finishing. I bought it on ebay a few of years ago with a blown engine.
It's fitted with an Ohlins shock, a cool GMC pipe(thanks Geoff) and Nightmare Racing plastics.

For a bike that was pretty scarce in it's day there seems to be a few in vintage circles.

Maybe it's because the wreckers didn't want them as not many around, no call for parts? A blessing in disguise if that was the case.

Must have all been lying in sheds unwanted til the vintage scene arrived.

That is nice. Two bikes in the one week? Is there anything else left?

What do you reckon something like that would sell for?  I am nearly finished rebuilding my 84 also  :)

Great job John,very tasty indeed.
A mate of mine over here is three quarters through a resto on the same model KX500.
I will try and get a photo,he jagged all new plastic for it,but the rear guard cost him a motza.

I agree with everyone else....Another nice resto. It's refreshing that you've resisted the temptation to bling her up John. It's lovely and clean. I had a KX420 and wish I'd have kept and restored it after seeing this gem.
