just making freaky aware that you have changed you mind since may.

will sliders be able to race in the class with pre75 mx bikes.ie hagon 250 with cr250/yz250  and 500cc hagon yamahas with tt500 yamahs in pre78.just like it was back in the 70s

dont see why not, thats what they did last year at wagga

sa is a long way to come and get knocked back on some stupid rule.sliders have been around since 1960 but in 2008 you cant use them in the classes you raced back in the 70s

Umm ....but if its in the sup regs, its the rule for the event.   you need to ammend the supp regs other wise if a winner is at 98 he can be protested out or you need to state " at any point the steward or promoter has the right to change the rules, and at the Riders breifing indicate the DB is 100Db as per EPA and has changed from the Supp regs.  I wouldnt chance it without something in writing saying its gong to be ammended to 100db and anything 250 pre 75 races in the heat on its merits.

Doubting they will check isnt going to pay the petrol home and not getting through scrutineering and saying but elsie said wont cut it.

102db cover worked for the Tassie NAtionals so it should be fine to get your supp reg up to 100db if thats the limit of the EPA. BUt id like to see it in writing before i send in a cheque.  I have a call into David white for an update on this also, if i have to ill put my hand up to do a testing course or what ever so i can use the ones here, even if i have to do it for the state.   better the devil you know right.

Still i think you need to get the 100db supp rule out there as it will increase your starters for sure, including this little black duck if i can get the bikes on a meter prior.

We dont have a noise meter in SA, sorry ill correct that we dont have anyone licensed to use the 2 sitting in MASA office, i have rung them 3 time to get a test done and its like faulty towers in there i cant understand how they keep there jobs.

A DT frame follows the same lines as the original frame, although it may be lower CG the layout is certainly positioned to the original layout ,not like the Sliders that have differant fame angle, tanks, forks etc more like a speedway bike, if anyone put a Flat track bike in with the sliders you be mental as they would both be on differant entry and exits and i though that was the whole issue over sliders ?

FREAKY
you got my point it must be in the sup regs.may elsie said sliders can ride with mx as they did in wagga and in 1974.in the sup regs they cant.it is a national event you can be excluded if you cant match supp regs noise limit.
cheers

hey im hearing you.

The promoter can change any or all things at there discretion pre race, so they should do it but we need it in writing before we spend that coin on promisethat they are,  same with the sliders thing, give me somthing i can bank.

The tassie guys made it happen, it wasnt a problem and we went,  but at least we had it in writing that they had a realistic limit that we could work too with some leeway to the GCR if after all that travel we where tipping the point where we wanted to be.

 Freaky and Jim,
Our race secretary for this event, Darylene, spoke with Ross Martin from MA today about your concerns...
The noise limit rule. apparently Tasmania got there special noise level for there meeting and no one went over the 96db rule, as there was monitoring done during the meeting?? Does anyone know who done this monitoring, was it the Tasmania club that hosted the meeting, or was it MA that sent someone over to do the monitoring????????
As apparently no one went over the limit, they arent prepared to increase the noise limit.
For the slider versus the chookies running together rule,
MA say that they have the slider class for sliders and that they dont want sliders running against chookies, and that was one off the ammendments, along with the noise limit rule ACTMCC had to make to regs before there approval.
What happens now???  maybe time for the competitors to flood the office with emails and phonecalls concerning these issues???
Or do they just get away with it????

This is yet another classic example of idiots not understanding the very heart and history of dirt track. The seperation of slider type bikes from motocross or American flat track style bikes is beyond ludicrous. This ill concieved stupidity started with Penrith club and with their influence within MNSW it was only a matter of time before it became a part of the GCRs. I'm ashamed to admit that I was once a proud president of that club. I'm so pissed off about this I want to throw up. I'm not the only person who is disgusted with this. The current 500 slider champion, who also rides a "chookie" won't be defending his title at Canberra this year. He's going to the Musclecar Masters at Eastern Creek and I think I'll join him.

Well maybe that's what there report back to HO said, but i can tell you at least one bike blow over 100db.   FBC did the niose testing on i think 5 bikes at random but you have to ask him that.  i cant even find anyone in the state to let me use the test unit and no other prick is licenced to use it, so how the fuc are you supposed to be able to work towards a GCR decibel at a national event if you cant even get a base line in your own state.  What a farse.  And yes im still waiting on a call back from the el president'e on this one in MA.  So if Tassie got a raised noise level buffer and no one reportedly went over it, would they not allow the same grace buffer to ensure the event was at capacity ?

give me some numbers to call.   if i had of know all this was coming on, i would have done wagga last year instead and then stayed in my own state from there on in, would have saved alot of breathe.

Well, I dunno what to say about the noise level thing - I've repacked the muffler on the TM and it'll be fingers crossed.

On a different matter, I've just posted up a Word document with some info about accommodation in the area.

And don't forget you can get all the latest on the DT Nats page:

Agred. But I really don't know what to say. I think it says a lot about how the sport is administered, the amount of confusion, inconsistency and general lack of support that is being shown around the noise issue by MA. That said, the GCRs are there, the MA has shown where it stands, the Supp Regs say what they do. All I know is that I haven't seen much evidence that the rule is being enforced anywhere. I reckon it's not worth worrying about. Stick on a halfway decent muffler and come on down, I'm sure you'll be right.

That's only my opinion by the way...

You want to know something funny about the noise testing? The rules are unenforcable. It needs to be tested by a certified NCO (noise control officer). How do you become an accredited NCO? A university degree, that's how. If someone knocks you back for noise ask them for their accreditation and ride off into the sunset because MA don't actually have any. It's all bullshit.

Hallelujah Magoo. Now maybe Freaky can move on to another bloody subject. I'd swear the boy must have been frightened by a noisy motorcycle when he was little. Talk about sticking to a subject! Most of us put in the "Who gives a shit category" months ago and moved on.

Well thats why i can find one here IN masa to test it FOR ME now.  no one is licenced !

HOW does FBC get away with it then > he tested in tassie ? and i though ACt was relying on the 100db enforcement from the EPA officers

Hows this, GCRs rule 12.10.1.2,  over rules rule12.10.1.1, noise emissions all disciplines, page 91 2008 G.C.Rs, handy, fairburn park dirt track has its own government  set noise regulation at 100db@ 35meters ride by point. Set,and tested by one off these university degree,
I am confident in the noise issue not being a problem for this years nats.
being on the dirt track sports committee, I would  like to see if various sports commitees can give there recommendations for  setting these noise levels in line with there discipline.
Eg; historic road race 102db, modern bikes yeah 96db, classic mx and dirt track, need to be updated to a realistic regulation, classic mx could be 98-100 db, cant see why classic dirt track shouldnt be the same as historic road race 102db, after all there both wide open throttle
 what are your thoughts magoo?
I would reckon its pretty safe to organise your journey freaky,

Phil

I reckon the noise thing is not a problem at all. Put the best muffler you can on your bike and get out there. The biggest stuffup is the seperation of sliders and chookies. I thought it was only going to be enforced at Penrith club days but obviously the influence disease has spread. Is this some kind of sick joke? Sliders, chookies and flat trackers have raced together for decades with no hassle. The lunatics are indeed running the dirt track asylum.
