RM80C- what should i do..
« on: January 01, 2011, 09:12:42 am »
Just picked up an RM80C from fleabay- pretty original- but does have the wrong forks and clamps, does anybody have any leads on some available? Also has a very ingenuitive shock lengthening device (aka a piece of flate plate bolted onto the bottom of the shocks!) to level her out due to the longer forks currently fitted. Just a bit unsure which way to go, restore, make into a period hottie, tidy up and resell ? it has a mototek cdi also, and i have access to a NOS PK pipe..

First you get a boat and drive to Eppalock. Then you take a plank and stick it over the side, then you put your wife's favorite evening dress on, hop on the bike and back flip it off into to depths below, after which you put the video on youtube. Then you sit back feeling chuffed while devising an even better plan for the RM80B. Oh yeah, you need to get yourself a jersey with "Spock Pastrana rules" printed on it.

You have far too much time on your hands my friend......the 80B will be a thing of beauty once finished-once you have painted the tank and plastics for me anyway....plus the boat was sold a while ago....

I'm havin' tons of fun with this 80J. Once you get into it you'll want ten of the things....... :)

I've got enough 80's for a class! ;D

(always looking to add more and before christmas I did spot that bike with the CD80 mototek but alas, not my neck of the woods ;))

I don't reckon resale value is really worth considering 311, unless it's a full resto it isn't worth much and would be flat out pulling a grand even if it were quite tidy. If it was a full nos resto you 'might' double that figure but that wouldn't even cover the cost of parts so it all comes back to building it for the enjoyment factor only. Taking whichever direction you see fit as parts and accessories become available is part of the fun. Can't help with the forks sorry but the $ is good in the US ;)

Bill  These look to be the same as the RM80C on Terry Goods site, 30mm , I used the forks in the xr75,
Free to a good home if they're any good to you
Cheers KB

Thanks a squillion Luke! I'll get that 80 dragged up from Mick's down south and then there'll be another ;D just out of curiosity, how did you collect so much RM80 stuff in such a short period of time! Amazing! :D

KB, that frame you have/had is '80 RM80T or '81 X. The clamps should bolt straight up to the C. Minor differences but you'd be hard pressed to pick it without having them side by side ;) I also notice your BBQ has a shaker scoop..must be a real hotty eh! ;D

S'pose I could get a KX80A going and go racing with youse. Let me think about that for a moment......nope! 80cc racing is for children just like it was back then. Adults on 80's is a waste of valuable time on race days. Call me harsh & narrow minded if you like.

you're harsh and narrow minded BigK ;D

mind you on a closed course I'm probably faster on an 80 than I am a full size bike ;)

Harsh & narrow......
If they split the Nats I'm sure they could easily accomadate an 80 class somewhere. Maybe a Pre 85 and Evo class?....... ;)

+3 harsh and narrow  :P
Why discriminate a class that started it all for most of us and could get future kids into vmx and the family back into FUN.
Might get the lazy arses off facetube :P and outside and do some exercise for once.

Plus it will be fun to see adults get injured like they used to ;D
