Tellya what Mario, swap ya that PE175T headlight assy for the 80 bottom end ;D it was yours anyway but eh..this'll give me more incentive to pull my finger out and post it! :D as for the engine number..I have nooo idea ??? I'll have a sniff around later but I think between '84 and '86 things stayed pretty much status quo in regards to the engines. Another project ::) I love it! ;D

jeez I hope I've got a few years left in me yet cause I need about 30 to get through these projects! ::) watching someone piece together a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle the other day and I said "I have no flamin' idea how they have the patience to sit and do it piece by piece!" They said "same as you and your bikes" :-\ one big difference! If I'm missing a piece I simply make it with no need to get all ballistic ;D though that does happen sometimes anyway :-X

Let me know if you/anyone up your way will be going to HBBB i think its in april??so i can pass on the RM80 bottom end if you can wait that long, otherwise its postage.
If i get a chance soon,i might box it up and get a quote from Austpost anyway and let you know.
Good to see another RM mini being brought back to life  :)

Just picked up an RM80C from fleabay- pretty original- but does have the wrong forks and clamps, does anybody have any leads on some available? Also has a very ingenuitive shock lengthening device (aka a piece of flate plate bolted onto the bottom of the shocks!) to level her out due to the longer forks currently fitted. Just a bit unsure which way to go, restore, make into a period hottie, tidy up and resell ? it has a mototek cdi also, and i have access to a NOS PK pipe..

This arrived tonight many many thanks to Rocketfrog Jason and Macho Mick ;D

Needs a minor spot of attention here and there but eh, for $26 I thought it a bargain :D It even came with a fairly straight RM125A/B alloy tank which was the item I initially had my claws out for :P The seller was going to post just the tank as requested but after looking for a while I gave in to my conscience and decided if I won I'd fix the bike.

Well I won..no surprises there eh! ;D Between myself and a much appreciated large donation from Luke recently there are near enough parts in stock to build it into a nice little ride bike ;) just a pipe and the original tank still required..

Mario, the pipe I be hunting now is for the RM80B. An 80C pipe would work also and at a pinch an N or T pipe may do the job too..come to think of it any twinshock RM80 pipe would get things moving ;)

Here's something to look for an all RM80's up the '81 X, all RM50's RM60's and all DS80's up to 2000.

In some cases the whole piece breaks out and the output cluster drops into the other causing the whole gearbox to lock solid and or strip teeth.

It would seem the resonance from the kickstart shaft stop against the stop cast into the right crankcase is the problem. This pic taken of the most recent motor I pulled down, at least it's still attached and in one piece. Easiest fix I found over the years is simply fit a rubber strap to the kickstart lever that actually holds it off the stops eliminating the resonance whilst in use..end of problem ;)

this extract lifted from a current RM80C auction in Oz :D

Quote
It sat in my cousins shed for about 5 years untouched and then we dug it out. It has the most aggressive powerband i've ever felt on a 80.

It is an animal

as kids this 'animal' is what we took for granted as being 'normal' ;D
