Tm air box

Yes this is a Tm 250 air box , and it cost me jack shit ( $3-00 to be precise) at our local tip shop .    Beats paying outragous prices and postage out of USA of which they are fetching currently.


Base   OD    =  195 mm    same as  TM
Top    OD    =   170 mm
depth         =   110 mm

Next you will need a Suzuki  Pe 250 / 400  1980/81  cage and base ....next the hard part a Tm air box boot

Next step remove handle, and mark centre of pot ( bottom side of course ) then scribe a mark from left to right .
From your centre line dot punch 60mm either side being 120mm apart .... drill these out with a 18mm drill bit

 Next - If you don't have a lathe, get a compass and set it @ 39mm then draw a circle being 78mm, this will need to be cut out fairly accurately to line up with your 18mm holes 
 
If you have a lathe, clamp the pot internaly and centre it up on centre point on pot ( I used shims )

As you can see it's a nice fit and looks like it belongs there. All that is needed to finish it off is a few brackets tig welded to pot aligning up with frame brackets.   note... I will be using rubber tap washers ...yellow of course to allow for vibrations between frame bracket and pot lugs.

Leith , from what I have been told TM  air boxs on these old girls where a bit restrictive. With this set up it is about 15mm off the rear guard and is pretty much protected from rear wheel debri..... it's suck it see, as they say.

Ali pots have been linked with Oldtimers, they are few and far between these days   Frosty

He's got a cover there Leith and it's anodised a pretty red!

The air box looks like it meant to be there Stu. I don't know about the washers for the air box but the rubbers for the oil tank are still available, they used them on outboards up until 3-4 years ago. Same part # too
