Last National VMX Meet - South Africa
« on: October 26, 2010, 01:20:30 am »
Just wanted to share some photos of our last VMX meet for the year in South Africa. It was held at Dirt Bronco, a couple of clicks NE of Johannesburg on 9 October 2010. It was probably the best prepared track of the year and a wonderful day for racing and socializing.

Great shots DT, it looks like South Africa scene is growing in leaps and bounds. Lots of nice bikes and happy faces. ;D The terrain looks like a cross between Southern California and Australia, especially that nice red dirt. Good stuff.
*Would the rider of Husky #171 have some sort of speedway background? His 'elbows in the air' style remind me of a couple of blokes here who've jumped off sliders and onto MX'ers but haven't adapted their style.

*I think it'd be a good idea to give the bloke who owns the Montesa with the red pipe a polite tap on the shoulder and a quicky lecture in good taste. ;)

any hill climbing on the mine dumps??!!
I can remember riding on the mine dumps as a 13-14yr old,(in the early 80s) somewhere near jhb with a mx track attached, could be the same place. It was a free mx track but had been preppd. I do remember being chased off the dumps and what sounded like gunshots which got us shit scared but a good laugh later..
Parents used to drop us off and we'd camp overnight -totally unsupervised... guess SA is a little differnt now

Looks like a heap of great fun. Love the feel of anticipation one gets from looking at the first pic of the three bikes on the trailer. Makes me feel like grabbing a bike and going for it!. I'm a bit too long in the tooth and a bit too crazy to ride 'scrambles' any more cheers pancho
dont follow me i'm probably off line!

Yeah we still do some mine dump riding. Wouldn't recommend camping in the vicinity these days! Wouldn't actually recommend riding in the area by yourself.
