he wants $3G for it....the owner said it doesnt need a cent to be spent on it....but whats sorta put me off it are the cracks....yes cracks in the frame same spot as yours anderneath the motor...he says he has welded them up but it dont look good...cause its been sprayed with some sort of black paint....my 84 model had the same problem but it wasnt as bad as yours in those pics earlier on you put up....heres another pic....have a close look at the bottom frame rails....

if he reckons that it needs no money spent on it well that is only his opinon, its different when You buy it of course as everyones standards are different (you may want new tyres, chain & spockets, Bars, etc)

$3k is not shit loads for a big bore 2 stroke from this era if its as good as what he says. i would suggest go right over it and check as much as you can out. even if you found one that was rough but resonable it can cost you way more in $ and time once you start to restore them. so if its a real good one i would pay that. if frame is done well (i can't tell from the pics) it should be ok, mine was too far gone in a few area's to warrant repair and i saw the 86' frame and got it at a better price than i could of repaired mine for. of course haggle him down a bit if you can.

just noticed that something (other than the color) is not right with the seat ?

hoony yes the seat cover isnt standard and the foam thats up against the tank looks out of place....where did you get your 86 model frame  from...cause i think i might know where there is one cheap one a long time ago... and have they got the same specs ..eg ..does the motor slip straight from an 85 model in the 86.... oh and also whats your view on why the 500s frames always crack under the frame rails...it seems to be a common occurance on these...

Great to see the big 5hundy Hoony, and its about time too ;) ;D.  That airbox, what are you going to do to fix it or will you look around for a better one?
I know pro-circuit do a pipe for this bike and it look BIG and Mean. Its like a snake the way it twists around the bike.Venomous

i had a spare airbox luckily for my 250 DJ , they are the same unit. I did get a procircuit for it as they are the goods.

Hey guys, with the frame, it might not  be exactly the same as the tank and shrouds are different. Did you have to mock anything up Hoony?

i have the 86' with the front end in it only at this stage, more follow up to come on this thread

Bugger, just got some shed time in after knocking off work early today. i made up my centre case gasket and thought i would check my gearbox clusters out before reassembly of bottom end and realised that 1 gear box thrust washer is wrong size and one is missing (the bike shifted fine before i pulled it down) either i have lost a washer or it never had one. another order placed to honda and hopefully i will get it tomorrow arvo.
