The most interesting line in the article is, "Forks are Marty's own works Showa units, made of Magnesium."

The Marty Moates LOP YZ465, that sold in Las Vegas, didn't have the Simons from the USGP, but it said they were "works" Showas.  Maybe that bike was Marty's USGP bike.

Think you might be onto something there Tahiti.

I would be guessing, but if Marty loved those Works Showa forks he would no doubt keep transfering them from race bike to race bike, up until 85' when everything went disk.

And maybe after having no more use of them, he fitted them back to the USGP yz465?

( I noticed the person who did this article from "Trail & Track" is John Orchard. Is this the same "Johnny O" from this forum? )

Really??

You tell me?
I asked the Question in the first place.

After being vaguely guided to your profile, I assumed you were the Trail & Track writer being 52 with the same name and into VMX.
Sorry for assuming.

Anyway, now that I dont give a shit, Stevo went and cleared it all up.

I'm not John Orchard I'm John Kittle, it is the same John Orchard here as Trail and Track.. You won't find many high profiles on here. Happy now?

You seem to be a tad precious Marty. I've gone back over the thread and didn't see anything that should cause you to spit it and leave. You asked a question, Lozza, Stevo and Johnny O (the one not named John Orchard) answered that question and you've read some sort of clique conspiracy into it causing you to do the bolt in a huff ???. If Johnny O upset you, you'd have positively gone apeshit after an exchange with Ross Nimmo ;D ;D.

Speaking of Marty Moates, there's a great documentary out on his win at the 1980 Carlsbad USGP. He really was a legend of the sport.

GT43 stay here, I'm not 'clicky' (I'm the real John Orchard  ;-) ), I'm happy to chat to anyone & everyone  :-)

I'm still Johnny O in the roadrace scene, figured it a bit corny to be Johnny O in the MX scene, with respect to O'Mara.  I got labelled Johnny O when I was racing MX in the 80's, I played it up for a bit of fun.

Speaking of Marty; I may have to buy one of those LOP jersey's on ebay  :-)
