Thanks for the helmet paint info. My mate in the US had his Arai painted plain white so I figured it'd be OK. All systems go!
Now.....back to the CD7 thread.

sorry gents - haven't joined the thread because I was stuck out west last weekend.  However to do a small hijack - email Red Alert on this forum - he is one of the best air brush guys in Australia and really knows his shit about painting helmets - which is the best way to go.  Nice guy - will let you know what can and can't be done.  But I have also searched for plain colour helmets and they seem to be making a come back with some of the cheaper brands like THH etc???  I thought it was easy enough to find white ones also for "pimping" suitably later?

Arai are fibreglass or a fibreglass composite and are probably okay. I would still check. The various other 'plastics' I would double and triple check.

And that just the shell. You still have to worry about protecting the poly liner and comfort liner from solvents.

Jeremy McGrath always had the best helmets.
When he was riding he had "Show Time" sprayed on the back of his helmet and now he is semi retired it says "Part Time"

A helmet is safety equipment so I would not touch it until I knew exactly what would happy if I used certain chemicals.

Air brush is a bit like TIG welding it take some time to master.
I have used cheap Chinese guns and expensive ones and found very little difference.

I make these fly fishing poppers, the body is about 15mm long. I air brush them with enamel.
Most of these poppers end up as collectors items because they are just to good to use.

Air brush is a bit like TIG welding…

No wonder my airbrushing isn't going too well!

Here is a fishing trophy I made.
I air brushed the fish freehand.
I am no master of air brushing but can do most of what I need.
I am amazed at the fellows at the car shows that freehand scenes on a bonet.

Air brushing is not easy

The mechanics didn't think so when they had to strip and repaint it for the 100th time… but you are right the Marlboro graphics do look trick

A random shot of an RM500

BTW does anyone know where we can see the video of the legends being interviewed shortly before they went on the track?
