The number of SWM's in Australia.
« on: June 05, 2010, 02:36:58 pm »
Hi, 2T_vs_4T here.
I'm new here, I joined after an long time riding friend told me about the site. I have two SWM's a 1978 RS 125 GS and a 1978 RS 175 GS. Both aquired some time ago after many phone calls in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
I had a thought about finding out how many SWM's came to Australia, eg model and year.
So if you would like to add yours to the list, I'm starting with my two.

                                                *AUS*SWW*RS125GS*C*0003*
                                                *AUS*SWM*RS175GS*D*0002*

Cheers 2T_vs_4T.

Edgar Phipps has a pristine original SWM 250 he recently found under a house. Not sure of the year but it appears to be around '77/78. It's got a Rotax engine.

Welcome aboard 2T_vs_4T....    ;D   Sorry I haven't been in contact since the funeral.  Been a bit hectic with everything that happened, work, and getting ready for CD7.  You still coming to CD7?

btw, check out      http://ozvmx.com/community/index.php?topic=13457.0

Did you only compete in one round of the 6 Day Series in 1982?

Between the 82 6 Day Series, and the 82 Condor Series, that makes at least 4 forum members that all competed against each other in enduros in 1982....    ::)  (2T_vs_4T, NSR, Mike52 and IT400C)

Small world............     ;)

Here is a pic of the SWM 125, found outside in the weather, it had been through a flood where it was found, the first 30cm or so of the expansion chamber had rusted away and the rings had rusted in the bore. The front wheel had been sold to a local farmer to use on a piece of farm equipment, but it was tracked down and exchanged for another wheel. There is also corrosion of the mag case around the rotary valve, so a little work to do, I think so. Here is a link to the pic. I will take so more pics soon, now that i know how to post them.

I really hope you can bring this wreck back to life. If you decide it's too big a project, I'd be interested in taking it on.

Sorry Guys I did say my ex SWM given away to a fellow club member late last year needed the room for the next pre 75 project

Over here in the west just no local old Enduro bike market

Must say the Army SAS boys back in the 80s bought a lot of SWM bikes the hot ticket in that group of riders in Western Australia

Cheers
