ER - talking about the motor - I can appreciate what you are going through.  I had a look at his "auction" (before your thread started) and just the whole agro he portrays made me steer away!

Yo Rudy....You've gotta love a redneck. I agree with Alistair, most Americans are wonderful, warm people. I was married to one and still have a lot of dear friends there, both within the VMX scene and generally. I have to bring you to task though Rudy.....There's nothing sweeter than a schooner of Pabst Blue Ribbon on a hot day. I doesn't complicate quenching ones thirst with something distracting like taste!

I had an experience a few years ago that was so much fun I kinda missed him after we ended our short relationship. I bought some Maico bits from this guy in San Antonio, Texas that went through courteously and with no dramas. After the deal was done and he'd been paypalled he asked me if my government would permit me to sign up as recipient to his "politically enlightening but fun" blog list. When I enquired as to why my government should give a shit whether or not I subscribe to his blog his reply that " he understood from 'some friends' in Australia that our Socialist government didn't allow its citizens to subscribe to political blogs that disagreed with their socialist ideals". When I replied (tongue planted in cheek)that I had permission from my local member of parliament to receive outside political messages, he sent me my first issue of his little news blog. This was during the last election so it didn't surprise me that his it was chocka block full of the Nigger word. It was a nasty, racist, homophobic pro white America rant fest that left me speechless. Obama was a "child molesting, Muslim, communist nigger intent on getting more muslims and niggers" into places of power. Nancy Pelosi was a "bull dyke communist", England was full of "buck toothed, pasty faced inbred faggots", France should be nuked as a gift to the world gene pool......and so on. When I told him that he may be a tad off the path of what the general public believed he told me that my controlled and censored press had prevented me seeing the true picture. He asked me if I'd ever seen American TV in uncensored form and if I was ever allowed to get a visa for the USA I was welcome to stay with him for as long as I wanted, to see what it's like to live in a democracy!

Eventually the fun turned to disgust and asked to be removed from his mailing list. The last time he wrote he explained that he was saddened that "the socialist bastards" had shut him down and he wished me well in "the fight"!

Unfortunately for our sweeping generalisations, a very substantial number of Americans AREN'T wankers.  I have been lucky to meet some of the nicest people I know on this earth in the USA.  Especially in the Vintage Dirt Bike Scene.  ;D

So let's rephrase it:

"Some Americans can be the most ignorant and patronising nationality in the world"  :o

How's that?  ;)

Ajay, I was taking a shot at our ex-pat Amercan, Rudy - please don't bring logic into the discussion. :)

The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

The irony's just beautiful. Did you eventually tell him of your NY heritage Rudy? I reckon we all should have a bit of fun with Mr Motox-fox by smothering with shipping questions every time he offers something for auction. A few years ago we did that to a seller called Dog Iron who showed a frighteningly similar style to Motox. Drove him nuts.

Feel free to have at 'ol Mr moto-x fox. Dont just limit yourself to shipping questions - get outside the box.

Dr mr fox. If I'm cooking a 7 kilo turkey, how long and at what temperature? What basting schedule should I use? Do you prefer rosemary or thyme?

Make it like christmas.

... and AJ and Firko - dont ruin my fun by going all peace, love and moon beams on me.

I can't make fun of hebrews or african americans because I am not one and it would be out of taste.

However I am a former American who just may have had a pick up truck, chewed tobacco, owned several weapons, enjoyed too many PBRs, and was a member of the NRA, so i have the right to treat them as I see fit.

I did substitute country music for punk and death metal, and I never had a good looking cousin, phew.

Oh dear, an American bashing thread ::). Even if done 'tongue in cheek', even if it's done with accurate generalisations it's gunna offend someone ::). So I'll put in some balance. I've done  more than 100 ebay transactions. I've only been ripped off once - by a redneck Australian from near Inverleigh >:(. Contrasting this, every deal I've done out of the US has been pleasant even when laced with difficulties. Ditto American web shops - cheap, pleasant, responsive, efficient and business like. American take a bow 8).

Yep, on the other issue, America has more than its it fair share of well educated but naive parochial nationalistic narrow minded and self satisfied extreme red necks - and a lot in between. I find this contradictory, interesting and quite amazing. Trying to get them to change or even realise this is futile. Their world view is so well established, so entrenched and so well supported by every thing in their lives from Hollywood to formal education it is extremely unlikely they will easily or quickly change. Unfortunately America is like drunks and druggies - they will have to 'bottom out', they will have to 'put their hand into the fire' to realise so that they want to change.

In between times, us having some 'sport' with them is not helpful but rather counterproductive because it only confirms their xenophobia and makes them less likely to change and more likely to hate Australians and have disadvantageous policies towards us.

Don't do it ;).

You have got to be frickin' kidding me.

Americans are like blocks of wood, the only way they change is to be beaten, chopped or carved into something else.

Your suggestion that one imbecile out of 300,000,000 can somehow influence enough people to then swing national policy against a COUNTRY like Australia is fanciful if not slightly deluded.

Life is full of offense; everywhere you turn we are offended daily with someone else’s deeds or ideas... get used to it.

LIKE (watch this open a can of worms) K.Rud’s insane policies regarding the BER and Insulation and his latest hit, boat people.

... so if there is a deserving freak out there that could use some medicine, let him have it. I’ve found the only way I change my mind is by taking mine.

Graeme, I don't think we're bashing America as a nation, we're (I am, at least) just relating experiences with stupid people who happen to be American. There are just as many dodgy and close minded Aussies, Poms and Kiwis that I can talk about to balance out the argument if that's what you want. Stupidity is a universal ailment not tied to nationality. Both Rudys and my experiences just happen to be with Americans who have a tainted view of Australia. Luckily, they're not all like that in my experience.
This very morning I've exchanged four emails with American friends, rang my mate in Fresno to organise the shipment of my Triumph engine and made a surprise call to a friend in San Francisco who's having some tough personal dramas. I lived and worked in the country for seven years, married a California girl and have nurtured a close and varied group of American friends, some I've known and loved for over thirty years. In that time I've learned that there are things about American society that I don't agree with (gun culture for one) but overall think they're a great society going through a rough trot. In truth they're not very different to us.

Freom my perspective, I'm not American bashing, I'm eBay idiot bashing......there's a big difference.

The "beigists" (here http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/beigist and here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIWw5T_6Y6w&feature=related) will never have truly won while there are people like you in the world Rudy.  God bless you and I wish there were more people like you around.  Life would be far more interesting.  I too am tired of the "eternally morally outraged" politically correct BS that goes on these days.

Not a shot at anyone, just a general observation - not meaning to offend anyone  ;) ;D
