My wife, kids and I attended the meeting today, well til the lunch break anyway. Awesome stuff, really enjoyed the morning and it looks as though you have a great club with top class facilities.
Man! that Ollie fella' likes to keep riding around in circles don't he.
...and the price to watch! Would do it again no worries.

We came out today for a view with the intention to give it a go in the near future. All was as expected and looked like a blast. Man that senior sidecar sounded horn.

So once I'm sorted I may give it a go on the PE175 for a feeler before I work out what I want.

So here are my questions;
1. Best bike for racing? Opinions? (everyone's got one)
2. Bike readiness. Road racing requires lockwiring of plugs etc. What do dirt trackers need to have done prior to scrutineering?
3. Safety Gear. The usual top to toe, or are knee braces, neck braces etc required these days?
4. It's got to be cheaper than road, supermoto etc. Am I wrong?
5. Hints for beginners?

Thanks for a great day and any advice given. - Sonny
I do appreciate any answers really.

Her's a starting place,

http://www.motorcycling.com.au/PDF_Files/Club_Info/cl_startoutbooklet_feb05.pdf

opinion, dirt track is a bit of a horse power thing,
My favorite dirt track ride is my XT 500 though my CZ 360 is pretty good,
I also rode a 125 today but  gee they work hard
so I would say large capacity with easy power delivery.

Hint don't skimp on cheapy rear tyres.

Cheers
Noel

A great day out, lots of riders, good fun, good surface, a bit dusty at times between watering the track. My one piece leathers got bloody hot in the 35c heat and my first race immediately followed the water cart which showed me i can sometimes slide round the speedway bend and stay on the bike! A big thank-you to all the officials and workers on the day and days leading up to what turned out to be a very well attended and well run event. Cheers wally.

sonny i would go to a pratice day and have a walk around the pits. on a pratice day it is pretty laid back and have a talk to blokes there. there is no gate entry fee to, every 2nd saturday of the month.nepean have a web site to with phone numbers to contact.it sounds like you may have road race at some time.let me tell you yes it is heaps cheaper than road racing.who knows you and the misses on a sidecar!

Thanks Mick, might be an idea that. I get my license back soon so if you see a BMW Rockster pull up, please say hello.
who knows you and the misses on a sidecar!
Funny you say that. I have always said to her we should do an intimate sport together, subtly suggesting sidecar racing. She never went for it, but on the weekend after one lap she stands up from her seat to see the action and says to me, 'I'd do that'!

sonny, road license or ma license? if ma licence you are half way there.as for the bmw it will stick out like dog balls to rich for the dirt track scene.as for the sidecar thing could ask a friend about a ride on one.sorry about the reply sonny as it may look like you hijaking the thread. oldyzman and matcho mick`s mate have seen the light or the dirt.wally and noel old hands as for jim he will try to get you sliding (slider)?as  for livo 83 love holds back a great day of racing.

Thanks for the replies Mick, I'd hate to hi-jack a thread but considering the round is over we're probably extending the life of the topic?
Yes, I have just realised recently that I do know Matcho-Mick from many years ago. Have made contact with him and plan to catch up in the future.
Yes, it is my road license I get back at the end of next week. Transports has been my delimna lately.
Never had an MA license, only the old ACU one.
No I am not putting the BMW on the track.
Would love a go on a dirt track outfit, don't know if I want to hang out of it myself but. You know how it is don't you? (Insert frightened smiley)
.......a slider, well that is something I am keen to try sometime. Will require lessons on that but.
Going camping tomorrow, have a great Easter all.
