Hey sonny ! I would love to see an old boxer BM hurtling around Nepean as an old  boxer rider from the 60's! Get hold of an old x police R60 and i can give you some major clues what NOT to do to it to make it go AND stay assembled! My old R 50 did close to 140 mph at conrod straight but dismantled itself frequently in practice. go BM boxers! cheers wally.

The RTA gave me a fully credited license yesterday. So as advised earlier in the thread I popped out to view the practice day.
A rather warm morning, with the sun poking through the clouds and brightening up the track every ten minutes or so.
Not a lot of bikes and maybe two old Elsinores on track from the vintage era. I got to speak to some nice fellow who rides a 510 Husky quite well, about costs, classes, tracker mods and the like.
Some young dude was out there, maybe 6yo on a modified XR75/80 slider, man he can ride! He only had two gears, 'stopped and flat out'.
It looked even faster today watching from the pits.

I have a road ride on tomorrow, so I may not get out there. But I think my next step may be to get the PE ready and give it a whirl on a practice day

Hey mick ! The only dirty pictures I'm looking for on the interwatsy are those of DIRT TRACK  MOTORCYCLES! Plenty of  thrills and spills at Nepean yesterday,...By the way I now can understand what causes the strange utterances one hears from you sidecar monkeys from time to time! From my flaggies point of view at the speedway bend I could see these strange persons head butting the witches hats at every opportunity! Well there you go!..I saw that there is no shortage of future motorcycle racing stars, with the ability demonstrated by several of the juniors racing out there, some very stylish and consistent young riders! In all a well run spectacular meeting. cheers wally.

Thanks Mick, that rule is very evident all over the Nepean site.

I believe I won't require a countershaft sprocket cover either. Correct me if I am wrong?

It seems very much 'run what ya brung', as long as everything is tight. I do plan to use the PE to begin with once I have it ready, and then should I continue who knows.
The PE175 has an awesome rear wheel 'quick release' system. So I may get another rear wheel with a universal tyre fitted just ready to transfer from the bush to the track with ease.

I am also selling my Beemer, one cannot ride enjoyably on the road, out in the sticks anymore with all the hiding boys in blue around. I've had enough of cat and mouse games and I am going to become a dirt enthusiast in every form. It's the end of a very long era, and I'm looking forward to relearning some old skills and a lot of new ones.

sprocket cover should be ok on a practice day but could be a problem on a race day get it checked.something in the rule book about the distance between the sprocket and frame.best bet is you have one run it.
