the best way to get it going is to use the kickstarter as they did not come with an electric start, if that fails try to run start it.

Start with a 420 kit ,electronic ignition and a bigger carby all these things will help to get the old girls going a lot harder than they did before .

The biggest improvement was the electronic ignition made it start easy and gives you a good strong blue spark instead of the very weak spark you get with points.

Getting rid of the flywheel weight seems to be a big part

It was always my understanding that Flywheel weight was a very important ingredient in a competitive Dirt Track engine, eg - full throttle pretty much 100% of the time, very little stop start corners. Knowing the Engine under you will hold Revs and not bog down half way through a corner is a major factor. In theory it sounds good but I'm not sure if I'm still game enough to try it out.

I know where you r coming from Curly, but when you look at modern 4/strokes there ain't much weight there. I'm of the popular opinion - bin it.

Hi Mate

The flywheel weight reason is true on a weak engine.
BUT
If you up the hp enough the last you want is a weight dragging it down.

Carby
cam
ports
valve springs
mill out the piston, ceramic coat the top so you can run it lean,
Teflon buttons on piston skirt to reduce drag,
exhaust port it
exhaust pipe it
ignition

or simply

Put me on it, LOL.

Push it up to the top of the highest bluff you can find Jim, give it a nudge, you should be able to improve its acceleration by about 9.81 m/s².

That only happens because of incompetent assembly and service. And I have a better excuse anyhow, I am removing all kicker mechanisms to reduce weight in my struggle to approach terminal velocity.
Keep doing them push ups and eating your wheat bix Jim, cause I don’t see any hills at the DT Nats track. And yehp, you guessed it, my quickshade will be going up next to yours, and I will be needing a push Jim.
