Australia Post is a ripoff, it's cheaper and faster to get stuff sent from the US!
Probably but they're making a profit which is more than you can say about USPS, Royal Mail and many of the Euros. Pricewise they're pretty reasonable compared to Royal Mail in the UK or the worst of them all..Canada Post or whatever it's called. Getting stuff out of Canada is not only the most expensive as any I've seen, it's also the slowest of the lot. A t shirt took five weeks to get here while one mailed on the same day in California was here in 6 days. And the cost was twice that of the USA. >:(

25 pounds for a set of bars from the uk is about the norm but see if you can get them sent in a really large padded bag and as long as the parcel is under 2 pounds then it qualifies for ' royal mail small packets' and should be less than 25 pounds. Any over 2 pounds goes parcel force and expect it to cost heaps. Ive had a set of english bars and a few other parts, sent like that in a large bag and the post was pretty good, but one time i had a a set of Renthals wrapped in sheet cardboard and they were probably still around the 20 pound mark, but still even with shipping they were still cheaper than buying in Australia.

I dont think we can complain about shipping too much, especially from the USA. Shipping from USA is now way cheaper than sending stuff to the USA.

Last week i sent a shoe box size parcel to USA which was 3.44 KG
The postage was $74 AU plus the new $9.00 AP revenue international surcharge and because i wanted it registered/insured that was an extra $9 so in total it cost $92.

Now compare that to what you can get from the USA. You can get 9.07Kg ( 20 lbs) worth of stuff in a large flat rate USPS box for $55 USD ( roughly $60 AU give or take a little)

That sucks now theres the new $9 fee that AP have to charge to all shipment to USA. They told me its becuase of the terroisim threats and the money goes to USA to cover extra sorting/checking at their end.

Yes Canada is expensive and at times slow. Works out cheaper if you get the stuff sent to US first and then get it sent out from USA. Ive had some guys who are close to the border, cross over to USA and then post the stuff from there so its cheaper too.

Postage within Australia isnt too bad i find as long as you pack it right and then you can avoid going to the next step up in postage. You see when you post stuff they check to see it fits into certain size slots etc. Often you will find its cheaper to send stuff express post than normal post aswell.

:D I agree.. Oz post is a rip off with smaller items. i.e. Tshirt from NSW $9.50 - Tshirt from Covington Texas USA $9.95. The US item travelled about 12 times the distance and arrived sooner. Admittedly it was posted a day or so before the local job but they were ordered on the same day ;)

I had a tee-shirt sent from Wheels Through Time arrive carefully folded by someone with great skill, into a TINY little square and I think it was $5 or $6 from North Carolina to Sydney.

Apparently Oz Post have put up all their prices late last year. I think it even costs about a fiver now just to get a money order written out. We pay more and more for the service, but it doesn't get any better.

I suppose we have to be thankful the service is still there at all. I read somewhere that their 'social' letter volumes had dropped immensely over the past few years, yet the infrastructure and staff still need to exist for us to ship our packages. Then again, 'promotional' or junk mail has probably increased and the real cost of posting a letter has probably been dropping for years.

At work I get parts sent from melbourne to Qld generally in overnight bags between ten and fifty dollars depending on the size nothing that wont fit in a bag and with them getting here in a couple of days i dont complain i know overnight is not a couple of days but we are a bit of the beaten track. and you have to remember us Qlders are a bit slow anyway.
When in DOUBT GAS IT!!!

Jerry I've bought numerous 'guards from DC but can't recall what it cost to mail them. I'm pretty certain he's honest with his shipping fees though.

I've bought some items from DC including a pipe and plastics and I was pleasantly suprised how cheap the postage was.  :)

I'm a big fan of DC (not so much their plastics) and they have a huge range of good products. Friendly and honest.
