« on: January 31, 2010, 08:47:32 am »
l am putting this bike for expression Of interest for my nephew he owns the bike, it is a 73 Maico mc 400 radial fin he is looking at selling the bike, he has never used it, please no tyre kickers, The maico is brilliant. it won`t be a cheap pick up. If you are looking for a maico that has been keeped in storage since 1974 totally original, genuine article. You can still see the dust on the frame where the bike was stored.
Call me 0404188410, or email me. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL

Its a free world, you can say what ever you like.
This bike was bought brand new off kEITH STACKERS MOTORCYCLES  in 1973, l know the fellow who bought it, the bike was raced for a full season, then the bike was parked and never used again, the owner gave it to a friend on mine and he looked after the bike for more then 30 years as the owner went over seas. When the vintage movement started in geelong barrabool in 1990, that fellow brought it out to the meeting and put it on show, it was never ridden on the day but was started, l was there.
In 1992 or 93 their was a race meeting at mytleford vic and the carer of the bike had a ride on it at that meeting, and took it home and put it in storage. The paint on the frame is perfect, the sandcast engine has very strong compression, their is nothing missing on the bike, wheels, guards, original levers, bars, throttle, their are brand new guards air box boot, filters, all new that will go with the bike, for a bike of this age it is brilliant., that photo of maico is the night l picked up the bike before heading off to QLD titles in august 2009.
The maico is for sale, your welcome to make an offer.

That’s obviously a very original bike Dave. A shinny example of Maico’s first radial fin top end. It may have been first sold in 1973, but it is a 1972 model. I have one. The fins on this 1972 model “hum” so much, that in time the resonance will crack the fins. Mine is on a .5mm oversize bore and it Has 19 cracks all over the cylinder fins. Maico realized this failing. They fixed this problem on the 1973 model by introducing the cylinder we are now mostly familiar with. That new cylinder having thicker fins and the wider bracing webs.
Saying that though, it only needs a 1973 or up top end or up to be a serious long term racer. If it were mine and that 1972 top end wasn’t cracked yet? I would be preserving it, as a show piece example of the progressive development of the Maico Marque. That is the first model Maico to have it’s now famous radial fin configuration.

Could be a tidy profit to be made on that one I reckon for someone whom does a bit of wheeling and dealing in Maico's.

Dot, no doubt about it, it is a nice tidy 400. Is it for sale and if so how much. If I am being unreasonable in asking the price for something that is kinda being advertised supposedly for sale please say so.

ENOUGH OF THE DUTCH AUCTIONS FOLKS. THEY ARE NOT IN THE SPIRIT OF NOR DO I THINK THEY ARE WHAT THIS SITE IS ABOUT.

As always, I will stand corrected.

Dutch auctions, Dutch wives and Dutch ovens, none of which are in the spirit of this site I would imagine.

Anyway I will give you $1500 for the Maico, I mean it has been used.
