Great stuff, Stan. Thanks!  ;D
Lots of recognisable names in there.

Is Course Marshall Lou Martin the same bloke as photographer Lou Martin?

I had a look through my "OLD Stuff" boxes, and I came across the programme for the 1973 Grand National at Christmas Hills.  What a catalogue of names and bikes.  A mate and I made the long trip down from Mackay to compete.  Ever seen a massed start with 4 rows of what seemed like 20 to a row?  Or been in the middle of it?  A fantastic track!  If I can relearn how to post photos, I'll scan it.

The only mass start I remember was Geelong in '83. The was 2 rows of 20 in the 125's chosen by riding number. I was first on the second row being numer 301.
Nothing like 4 rows, but still pretty interesting being in the middle of it.  :-\

Me too Stan. Arguably the best track in the state in its day. Do you have any more photos. I have current ones of the track. Jerry

Hi Jerry, I found this one of Anton Alers and Rob Gordon in the 77 Grand National.

Keep it coming Stan! I was at that meeting too. Absolute tragedy Anton could have gone on to the big time overseas Im sure. If I remember correctly he had gone over to Europe earlier in the year and raced at Namur. The last I heard of him he was rallying. Jerry

Great to see the old program. Amazing that myself and John (Toby) Robertson rode at that meeting and then meet up 30 years later in Proserpine with him purcahsing one of my maicos to get back into vmx. He still luvs to remind me that things haven't changed that he was faster than me back than and still is now.

Unfortunatley I was on the boat which the crew decided to go on strike for a week. Camped at the boat terminal in Devenport and had to miss the Wallan meeting that Gaston rode at the following weekend.

Cheers Stan.
