On the helmet issue, its more that there are ones that are presented at machinery that are in poor condition or the approval mark is either not there or very difficult to find. The point isnt to get into a long winded discussion on what you can / cant do but to point out that there have been helmets rejected (last nats) and a suggestion made that for some it may be worth upgrading to a new one.
As long as your helmet is in good condition and has clearly identifiable marks acceptable to the GCR's you will be OK but if you front up with a 70's period plastic unit that looks like it was last used by a patch wearing bikie in a remake of Easy Rider then forget it.
And yes, one did turn up at last years Nats.
