Lumpy, the Suzuki history would rather forget
« on: January 02, 2010, 06:39:12 pm »
Built to run the whole six days of the ISDT on just the one tank of fuel Lumpy as it turned out was a complete and utter failure after falling off the stand and killing it's rider. Sadly as due punishment Lumpy was promptly retired never to be seen or heard of again.....well..so the story goes..

...but wait! ;D Lumpy Returns!!

boredom and box of bits knows no bounds ::)

Doc, Doc, Doc, I think you've got too much time on your hands. Contemplating a new flat track class perhaps? Ram-air, drag the pipes on the track, feet up style.... would be a sight.

jeez Doc, you know I love your work. Normally that is ;D

It's sorta-borderline got that look of something that would turn up on ebay and everyone would be mildly (or violently) amused by.

Seriously though, it may have some potential. I think the guards are the achilles heel at the moment. The front one needs to be a tad smaller, and the rear one is too flat, needs a bit more curve to it.

A bit less tank wouldn't hurt ;D

Anyway, you'd better get it sorted soon. The rain has to stop sometime and you won't have time to scratch yourself.

MX, you think it's lumpy from the side ::) to use The Fonzie's famous phrase you oughta 'Sit On It!' It's even lumpier looking down from above and it's not an isometrical lumpy like a BMW it's all over the shop..a big lump here a bigger lump there :o  I've purposely tried to make it as fugly as practicle so as to disguise the true potent performer that lurks within and

yes Oldfart, it's the BIGBLOCK 185 mill not the piddly 125 ::) if you're going to build these bikes you can't go building it to conform to any sort of rule book as it's way above that! :P

Pete, I went out and did my mowing this morning and then I came home and put this together this arv :) not a lot of time wasted ;) Still needs the front sprocket swapped, a chain, 2x pods and a battery and it can be parked for the next millenium. This isn't the dirt track model btw, this is the 'lecky start' ISDT vinduro special Lumpy 8)

Mainline thanks for the mudguard observations, I'll shall take that onboard and refer it to the styling department ;) as for the tank being a bit bigger than regular well there's good reason for that. It hides the lumps when in the riding position ;D

on a final note, you people are too kind and also a little too gullible ;) this thing is so frickin' hideously fugly the real reason it was banned was because it sent everyone blind! :D

Mainline good news, I found the TS100ER front guard is the same deal just smaller in all dimensions and it looks so much better ;) if it were a snake it would have bitten me! stands to reason if I run '80 TS100 front wheel, '72 TS125 triples and '74 TM125 forks that the '80 TS100 guard would be the obvious choice :P I've extended the rear as there are 2 dirty big frame rail bits that stick out the back and the guard has to go over them not between them like normal so I can't really deviate from the style fitted :-\ will see how the revised appearance pleases the optics in the morning.

it could well be just your bike Wasp though it's missing a wheel and some other minor attachments :-\ if it didn't take up more space I'd near consider building a sidecar for it as that is truly what it needs to be the ultimate!!

I am gearing up to build a replica ('s) but she'll/he'll/it'll be the muther of all lumpies and potential buyers will have to wait in turn..hopefully the new improved model will have not 2 but 3 transverse cylinders for a swept capacity of a whopping 380cc!! Just have to find a donor first :P funny how I feel no remorse gutting the old roadies but someone somewhere if they knew would probably be spazzing :D :D
