Seems you have to have an account of some type to comment. I was going to comment on the cases. I have a set of cases off an '82 that have the same crack.

I got a email today and the person was telling me as a honda machanic he had fixed two or three cr480 cases that had cracks in them like mine. He said that they would weld them and never had a problem with them again. DG

Never had a problem with my 82 model.  Always started in 2nd gear, blew them away to the first corner......and then I woke up !!!!

Ran an 82 for 3 years without any issues...bullet proof.

I posted some more photos and here is a link for the EX manifold' check out the billet kick starter for the trx250r, would that work on the 83 cr's? check out the cylinder's and head, would that bolt up to a 83 cr250? also check out the CPI pipe for a cr500 very cool! this is the guy that built the proto pipe for ATK and there first liquid cooled 250 in the early 90's with the big fat section in it, ATK had FMF see if they could build a better pipe than CPI and they could not, about 6 monthes after that FMF had a new pipe called the fatty and it looked alot like CPI's pipes. Thanks DG

I had Steve Stasiefski factory mechanic for Brad Lackey at my home this last week so I had him put the bottom end together on the 480, check out the photos. DG
