Thanks to all the officials and flaggies and every one at the big meet of the dirt track classic year for two days of grins and excitment.
Lots of old friends, new old friends and new friends.
Thanks also to my club City Of Penrith MCC for making it possible for me to get there.
With the help of T.H.,and Chris with his spare machine, and others at the track, for some events I was able to be at the start gate when I would have otherwise missed out. I am concerned about the bloke from Tamworth who was next to me in the pits who had a very nasty get-off in turn one while in the lead, any reports? Over all a great weekend.   cheers pancho.
dont follow me i'm probably off line!

Birko`s on his way ;D Good luck to all the contestents, Has Anyone got a box of Del lorto jets thay could bring, think i need a 60/65 pilot and a 140 main.   nothing like being organised ???

i think you should have asked about sprockets Snowy, whoever said it was the same gearing as Canberra was a bit out, i struggled all weekend not just in gearing.  Awesome track when you got the power to stick.  except the Black face after every race was fun.

HAts off to "dirty sanchez" Dave tanner with the best track moustache of the weekend,( i like the up turned bits at the end the best)

Was it me or did it seemed every time you turned around you needed to be at the start gate and it was dropping ? little bit rushed, think we would have benifited from starting at 1pm on Sat not after 4pm.  It seemed like it was chasey, bit rushed, going so fast i couldnt keep tabs on what was going on........

Still hats off to Grassy and pete, great you guys and your club got the event happening and running !

i'd like to have another crack at it there next year now i know what to expect.

Congrats to all the guys that placed and raced.  Shout outs to Turtle for that little track nap in the dark, Mick for taking the parts for tony, Dave for the frame Drop off, snowy for his trademark hat and the list goes on.   Will repost when i get a chance to reflect....... and get sleep back in check.

thanks Griffith for hosting it.

TH & Marg helped Geg & his wife get his gear.
All the finals were hard fought but particularly the big bore races were really cut throat racing.
Great event and the Griffith club should be proud their efforts.
Sorry I didn't catch up with all the forum members that were there, maybe next time.
The mark has definitely been set high for club in QLD that hosts the event next year.
Cheers, Steve

With all of this talk of pre 90/95 going on I've been feeling a little jaded and worried for the future of Vintage racing. Thankfully the fear and loathing for the future that was starting to consume me took a backward step at The Pines Speedway over the weekend. The 2010 Australian Classic Dirt Track Championships was the best tonic for reviving faith in our sports future in a decade. In a nutshell, the meeting was truly magic. The vibe that was electric, the racing that matched anything I've seen in years and the Griffith club bent over backwards to make everyone welcome and comfortable.
The club went about the business of running a very difficult meeting with an air of country "no worries". Even when the notoriously erratic MA steward John Langfield insisted they remove most of the infield motocross course before he'd allow the meeting to proceed, the Griffith boys took it in their stride and proceeded to remove the "dangerous" motocross section without raising a shitfight. Lesser clubs would have gone into meltdown if they'd been confronted with that an hour before kickoff!
I had my own personal meltdown a couple of days prior to the meet when my struggling left knee finally carked it bigtime but luckily my mate Bernie took over the driving duties and we got there with no dramas. With the benefit of narcotics and good mates I managed to make it through the event without resorting to double doses of painkillers ::). It was great catching up with some old mates I hadn't seen in a while and meeting many new racers. Dirt track has a great reputation for cameraderie and the Griffith Nats were no exception. The Griffith Motorsports Club deserve a huge pat on the back for producing the best Nats in recent memory. I really wish the motocross stalwarts would give dirt track a go and see just how exciting it can be.

This forum had some great representation with Noel, Turtle, Suzuki211 (riding Kawasakis!), Supersenior, Jim, Freaky, Jake57, Sliderulez, Snowy,Pancho Wally,Fossil, Matcho Mick and many I missed. Special mention must go to Dave Gras and Peter Lee for not only riding the wheels off nearly everyone else but for achieving their dream of a brilliant Nats. I especially WANT TO apologise to Freaky, I was hobbling to your pit to say g'day when the knee shit itself again so I had to slowly return to the safety of my pitside comfort zone and I never got another chance, sorry mate...next time for sure.

I managed to run off a few shots over the weekend so I'll put some up over the next day or so.

Ray Stevens on his TT500 Yamaha.

Dave Tanner does the outside pass thing on Adrian Henry

Paul Edwards(971) stylin ahead of crazy Chris Thompson on his really quick IT 250 ratbike

Col Metcher rides way better than his 72 years would suggest. Our sport could do with a few more 'Superseniors' like him.

Peter Lee was one of the big movers and shakers behind the event. He won his share of gold too!

Freakshow (152) battles with Brad Edwards (26) in the dogleg.

Ray Stevens & Col Metcher won a couple and I know Paul Edwards won 1.
Great shots Firko and QLD was the talk around the pits but its not set in stone yet.
