NO. 2 totally different motors. Basically about the only parts interchangeable are the magneto and clutch cover screws and a couple small parts if your lucky, thats how different they are.
Wanted - 1978 TS185 frame or frame&motor. Frame # TS1852-24007 up to TS1852-39022

YES .... need front alloy engine plates to match  ;)

Leith ... PE 250- 400 share the same frame , as with RM 250 -400 Ditto
           I have a Rm 250 in a PE 250 frame  ;)

Man, what I wouldn't give for a RM 250 / 400 roller, I've engineered the shit out of a PE 400 frame so far to get it where I want it but at the end of the day a RM frame would have sufficed nicely - that said, a PE 250 or 400 motor will sit in a RM frame with the exception of the front mount being different on the 400's (15 minutes work to make new mounts) At the risk of trying to re invent the wheel, I am currently going hard modifying a PE 400 motor and frame to a place they were never designed to be! Shit someone has to do it!!

The PE250 was based on the RM250 frame.
The PE175 was based on the RM125 frame.

I don't quite see the disconnect?

pe400 frame is quite similar to 250t/x frame aswell and the 400 is only ten kilo heavier thanks Michael. :)

The PE250 & 400 T/X/Z frames are not just similar, they are exactly the same.

not exactly the same one is stamped 400 the other 250. ;)
