Looks great mate.  You are doing an awesome job  8)
Are you going to paint the cases after you put them together or before ?

i was thinking after. think there will be any problems?
Nah - not really.  I have done a few now and learnt not to paint them before you put the bearings in ( when you heat up the cases with a heat gun the paint blisters).  Kind of learnt not to paint them after you put the cases together too.  Unless you are meticulous with the sealant between the cases the paint don't stick to any place you may have accidentally wiped the sealant and it is an absolute bitch to get rid of - use wax and grease remover - acetone doesn't take off silicone.  I have come to the conclusion that you paint them after the bearings and before the sealant.  Maybe I'm just messy - I don't know  ::)  If you paint it after you don't get to see the join in the cases - something for the train spotters  ;D ;D ;D

Nice work with the NOS barrel etc too.  I bet it took some trolling of eBay and some courageous bids to get that stuff in the bag  8) 8)
Looking for YZ250C parts NOS if possible

thanks for that 250H. ill see how it goes this time then kick myself later when i should have done it your way! I seem to make myself learn everything the bloody hard way!  >:(
Like check the exhaust you have is actually an X exhaust, not a C. dammit now i need to find an X expanion chamber. I can see myself putting the C model one on untill i find an X.

Also tank is repaired and primer, ready for paint!

Or T.D Hatrick in Townsville, get the correct jetting spec's out of a Yamaha manual and order them with the carby....buy Aussie. ;)

if you buy any new carby for your x you will need to get the airbox side machined down as they are way too long.or space the air box back.if you want to make original you will need to buy a s/hand one as new ones dont have the tall slide top.i dont have the gen one for mine as most ones i see for sale are the same price as the new aftermarket mikunis.dont forget they are 34mm

You've got it back to front Jim....you just cut the extra length off the carby with a hacksaw.....done it heeps of times.....if its a race bike, buy new.

It is indeed for a ride/race bike. the only new ones i had seen were quite a bit more $$$ than that.

thanks very much for the info!
