General Discussion / Re: Election 25
« Last post by pokey on June 06, 2025, 08:44:04 am »
The internet is a great platform for information though I wonder at its usefulness with society. Communication relies on many factors to achieve correct comprehension and removing one component results in less true information passed on. Telephones again not so great though better than mere text. Not all are born to be writers.

A few words of wisdom passed to me by an elderly gent many years ago seem appropriate with the internet.

"Complaining about something you read is like choosing to step in a dog turd when you could have walked around it."

A few subjects I feel never end well in a discussion and if possible avoided. Religion politics and which oil should I use.

Politics is filth and this election had been run and done. Pleasing all constituents will never occur. We can choose to let the politicians argue scream and yell and be the dog turds in life and we can choose to see and know they exist and walk around them less we become what we despise.

Have about 15 hours of riding on the replacement(non OEM) pro-x seal and it holds good. No white smoke or petrol in gear box :)

I agree with your thoughts 500Fool. Wasp set the tone of the thread with his opening post. Weather he meant it or not, his post was offensive.*

I found the thread boring until pmcburney chimed in with, what I thought was a humorous and spicey addition.

Pokey then kept it interesting with some thoughtful additions, before the hype died down.

I don't do Facebook but if this conversation was happening on a motorcycle forum, it must have been chaos over there at the time. :)

*No offence meant, Wasp.

Wow, about 60% of voters want more immigration, continued housing shortage, more crime, more inflation, more woke stuff, more pollution, more clever indoctrination starting at Kindy all the way till Uni and mass sporting events. I rest my case.  :o :o :o :o

If there was a subject to study in right wing propaganda and specious talking points, you'd have a doctorate.

I do love the trotting out of the old chestnut of "The voters got it wrong!" again.
They only get it wrong when your side loses, eh?
You and Andrew Bolt need to buy yourselves a couple of mirrors and look long and hard into them for the first time in your miserable lives.

Show us on the doll where the bad Labor government hurt you.
And please, enlighten us all as to exactly how the alternative was going to solve all of those propagandist, right wing, gaslighting talking points.

Go on Boomer, we'll wait while you finish your banal whining.

Agreed 100%
It's OK to lie and cheat if you are a conservative, if you push back to redneck critics people call it nasty. Like Trump, can't take criticism. The first post in this thread was nastier than the reply to it. Either ban political comment or give either side equal treatment. There is always another point of view.
Some good entertainment is to watch SkyNews coverage of the election night 😂 Great viewing, laugh all night.
Lib/Nat losers need to admit they got it wrong, they got soundly defeated. Keep up the good work blaming everybody else, the way they are going they will never get into Gov again.

And the Rot continues. CCM have administrators appointed.

Last year I tripped over a write up for their newest product, a frankly quite expensive street racer bobber thing all the while thinking thats going to be a hard sell to a miniscule market. It has the typical great CCM engineering and great utilisation of the best components but its not a great looker and Ive noted street bobbers have been created in back sheds cheaply. £9,995 to £22,995 for an exclusive 600 single street bike is a hell of a lot of money. call it a single seat heritage styled Bentley.

The parent company Pitalia group has a portfolio reminiscent of an Eton mess with brands from obscure snack foods to an online chemist. Once again the reminder of when a sports company AMF had control of Harley Davidson almost killing the brand. Diversification can be fruitful but not at the expense of your core who supported you through the ages. Here's hoping a company with experience within the historic motorcycle racing community picks up CCM.

And the good old Japanese Manufacturers just plot along nicely . Little dramas ,good conservative production and marketing .No extreme gimmicks. No unhealthy coffein drink peddling.I guess they are eating popcorn now and observe it all carefully.

You could machine the crank wheels out to 35mm and use the later rod kit.

Pappadums not included.

It wont be China its all India.

Im at a loss how people keep track of who owns what with parent companies and grandparent companies. I was not aware of the actual owners of KTM and they were jointly owned by PIERER Mobility AG who is owned by PIERER with 50.1% and  Bajaj Auto International Holdings BV held 49.9% of the company known as Pierer Bajaj AG.

Now that we are all confused it seems Bajaj has taken a controlling interest in PIERER Mobility AG and thus KTM. either way KTM is saved for the moment.

Im sure most have heard of the Indian company Bajaj and i think one of the largest bike manufactures in the world thanks to its domestic sales alone.

India have taken a large bite in the automotive industry with Tata taking over many english auto brands and heavily involved in F1. Tata also have a big stake in the aerospace industry. The days of crappy knock off Royal enfields and  Morris oxfords are disappearing before our eyes.

How Bajaj goes with the KTM brand is yet to be seen and if the latest recall notice of 20,000 bikes is anything to go by they will need all the help they can get.
