General Discussion / Hodaka Information

Hi All

I may have the opportunity to buy a boxed up Hodaka. Has not run for at least 20 years. Located on a farm in the central west. Only thing I know is that it has the chrome tank. I will get it but is there anyone in Australia who deals with spares etc.

I wasn't looking for another project but this one is a bit left field, something to spice up the VMX juices in me.

Wanted / Megacycle Cams for 82 XR500

I'm in need of a 1982 XR500 Megacycle Cam Shaft ( the one with the needle bearings). The standard grind preferred.
Is there an agent in Australia? The USA store has limited access - and no email address .

Or a good Second Hand XR head??

Honda / Fitting a Postie CDI to an XL350

A friend has an XL350 with ongoing electrical problems. The spark is erratic at the best of times. Instead of buying stator coils etc he was hoping to replace the old system with something much more reliable. A bit of a search on the net and through previous posts says that a CDI unit out of a Postie bike is the fix so what and how is it fitted. None of the information goes into the How.

Any information would really be appreicated as he is trying to have it going (reliably) for the CRC in two weeks.

Tech Talk / Fixing dings in the side of a fork leg!

Hi All

Is there any one in the Sydney area who can fix a fork leg where something has banged up against it? There are 4 or 5 little dings mid way on one side which is now stopping the leg from sliding up and down on my YZ400D.

Alternatively, has anyone got a set of forks (YZ250D / YZ400D) where the chromes gone and not really usable but the bottom legs seem OK?

Any help appreciated

Looking for assistance to track down an old style riding shirt (or similar). Already contacted Vintage Iron but nil stock. Anywhere in Oz that may have one XL or XXL size? Yellow or White and prefer new.

Wanted / RT1 Frame needed.

About a year ago I did some dealing with Nathan S and ended up with his RT1 project. He did some cuts to the frame which could be dealt with but a dfferent original frame would make life easier.
The bottom end is RT2 and I'm not sure if there are any differences between RT1 & 2 or 3 frames. For that matter, I'm not sure if DT1 frames are the same and would be usable??? I need just bear frame and a bit of advise.

Prefered Sydney area if possible.

Wanted / Boyesen, Rad or Standard Reed petals for YZ400D

Hi All

Desperately looking for a set of Reed petals for a YZ400D/E. The box of bits that I bought that now resembles a motor is missing the reeds because someone has broken or removed them.

It appears that stock ones from any of the models below will fit.

Or Boyesen part number is #606 (fits YZ / MX / DT 360 and YZ400 up to 1978).

Wanted / YZ250D / 400D Swing Arm Needed

Hi All

Looking for swing arm for a YZ400D project. Have one but the bearings had seized and the arm became the pivot point flogging it out. I've seen them in the States but just seeing if there is one locally before going off shore.
