General Discussion / Re: How much 4 a tube fitted ?
« on: May 12, 2015, 11:11:29 am »
Mates son has been charged $100 definitely two....maybe three times in a row for a HD tube to be replaced after a spate of punctures.

Mates son only remembered to tell his old man after the second time.

Old man's response, "you wont be farkin going back to that shop anymore".

Done.

Trouble with some of these road rules is common sense has gone out of favour.  :-X

Allowing motorcycles to lane filter is not going to help with congestion one little bit. Motorcycles and cars mingling at 20-30ks an hour within inches of each other will always be a recipe for disaster.  :'(

A policeman who books someone for stretching his legs is a nong and that law needs to go.  :-*

Likewise a policeman who books someone for taking their hands off the handlebars while sitting at the lights should have instead been a Lawyer if he wants to apply such a stupid road rule to the enth degree.  >:(

Road rules should be applied equally and sensibly to all road users regardless of what you are operating.  ;)

And lastly how many politicians/bureaucrats would have 30-40 years solid riding experience that might assist them to make well judged statements/changes or adjustments to the current motorcycle road laws?  :o

Why would anyone go to that much trouble to buy a car..........?

On the other hand they would go to that much trouble to try and get it for free.

Was recently quoted $500 for shipping of a NOS fuel tank to OZ by a high flying H#%da dealership in the U.S.

Did you tell him he was dreaming......

Very similar to your suggestion........Something like;"you must be f#%king kidding me".  ;)

Stolen! / Re: Stolen from Woolongong area
« on: November 16, 2013, 03:51:18 pm »
Some good news.

One of Adrians KTM kids bikes was recovered by police in the southern suburbs of Wollongong about 4 weeks after they went off.

The 300 slipped through the net.
.
A stolen 570 Husaberg was recovered in the southern suburbs of Wollongong 2 weeks ago in a house. The guy that said he owned it was charged. The bike had been flogged around the streets. They did about 1000 km on it.

The Campbelltown D's recovered about 10 stolen dirt bikes in their area. One was a KTM 450 EXC stolen from Helensburgh about 4 weeks earlier. The D's were hoping people would contact them to claim bikes.

Info from them was the crooks were sitting on the side of the Princes Highway in busy 60k zones and picking up on bikes coming back from ridding down the coast on the weekend. Following bike trailers and utes home. Bikes on display.

Trick is to see who follows you around round abouts and down side streets for no good reason.

The were using some very high quality bolt cutters or similar to cut through chain, ropes and locks.

Record your Engine and Frame numbers early.

Pete

And invest in a Van with an alarm and central locking.

Could it be said that the John Goss special might well be one of the rarest FORD collectables of that era? I have only ever seen one genuine one in the flesh and that would have been over twenty years ago. A very smart looking and unique car being a coupe and not a GT. Not overdone, and a little on the conservative side with the 302 being the only size engine that they arrived with.

Would be very reluctant to cut, weld, heat or bend. To much loss of integrity.

You guys are so funny. But seriously fork the electrics, I only need that to pump fuel, run my A/C and the fridge. I want my petrol fumes.

And what is wrong with 4T KTM's? I have 525 that is now a tad over 5 years old and has only ever had 1 new plug and a new R. H. radiator shroud after a tangle with a jet propelled wallaby that was stone dead before it hit the ground. Bulletproof reliable so far.  8) 8)

General Discussion / Re: Percentages of MX bikes on the start line
« on: October 16, 2012, 09:20:23 pm »

Late 70's early 80's in Northern Tasmania, lots of white and blue Yams, a healthy dose of red bikes, a fair amount of yellow bikes, with the green bikes being quite rare. One nutter (local speedster) had gone out and brought a spanking new 1981 KTM 495 MX. Was offered a ride as a wet behind the ears 16 year old learner. Promptly frightened the s*#t out of myself but can say that that one spin on an exotic (at the time) bike had a long lasting effect. It was enough to cause me to trawl a good bit of Australia over a long period of time looking for one as a project. As a 40 something motorcycle enthusiast I can still so clearly remember the "rides" that some of my diehard big bore loving mates had. For a sparsely populated country area it had more than its fair share of petrol heads with big brute bikes. Any amount of YZ 490's, a healthy number of IT 490's, YZ and IT 400's & 465's, CR 450's and 480's, RM 465's, the occasional PE 400, the odd rare KX 420 and a lot of XR 350's and 500's and then of course came the XR and TT 600's. Anyone that owned a bike under 350 cc was considered either a learner, a chicken or a girl. Oh the memories.

For me personally, it's about athenticity, originality and preserving the manufacturers creation. After all I am not an inventor or a motorcycle designer. I just love trying to keep something that's getting a little old in good tidy shape so that it can continue to be enjoyed. Dollars and sense don't come into it, or you wouldn't bother at all.  ;D ;D

See that broken pedal crank at the end of the vid?...........Sometimes it's not the bike that gets broken.
