Yeah I just got some shock bushes and they were nice and dirt cheap, I have also used electronic ignition on BSA B44 and it worked just fine for $90 so somewhat cheaper than Interspan.

Been buying a bunch of stuff for the Triton out of India lately, its all been delivered promptly and the quality is no better or worse than the OEM stuff we were saddled with the first time round./ Pity they never build bigger range of models, but ther are a couple of companies that do alloy tanks for pretty much anything you ask for, couple of friends have bought Ducati tanks out of there.

You can also cut the shock spacer on the inside of the swingarm tab and shim the bottom out a little. I ended up doing all 3, happily my shocks had already had a little grinding on them so not like I was raping the Sabine virgins. If you have the shocks in full extension then you only need to see daylight against the frame.

Rims will crack a mile before they tear and inch, bit of cracking is pretty normal

Paul Smart is slowly taking shape from $1200 insurance right off.... though it has ended up like Caesars sword with different engine and frame etc  ;)

I would go with whatever way feels comfortable......NVT bike is to the right, GMC hangs to the left and has less bends in it ;)

Finally it is kit bike and that is the joy of it all that no two are the same and there is no real 'right' solution.

Do it your way Pete, gota love a Rebel!! ;) ;) ;) ;)

The Pro Tec 600 has exhaust on the right side so you have the option of both versions without a drama... not sure why it is on the left as even on that side you have to fit the airbox in around it

I have an article somewhere on what Broc Glovers mechanic did to their '85 factory 490.
See if I can find it, from memory had something to do with modifying the standard needle and maybe head mods.

From what I have read Broc 's mechanic lowered the compression ratio, fitted a flywheel weight and from all accounts Broc hated it and rode it as little as possible.

Sounds like PWK carb can be jetted better and using 2 head gaskets like of my mates did isn't a bad idea.

Tech Talk / Re: Gearbox shimming.............

Any ideas/suggestions, apart from that I ditch the engine and replace it with a nice Yamazuki one  ?  :)

Cheers,

Nitram  :)

Sacrilege, besides any late 60s Guzzi is pretty collectable and besides not a lot else will fit. Guzzi and Ducati share some common shims, so you have to dry build the gearbox and work out what shims you need, you can probably get them in Aussie by finding a specialist who overhauls old Guzzi or Bevel Ducati  stuff. Not surprised automotive transmission store didn't have much for 40 year old motorcycle.

I would also do the drive shaft universals and at least check the rear wheel pinion backlash while you have it apart, oh and also change rear engine seal while you are in there.

Kawasaki / Re: Clutch and brake lever and perch assemblies
« on: March 04, 2015, 07:52:28 pm »
Best value for money I think are the Moose Racing ones so MSR clutch assemblies.... you can buy then off Fleabay for $35 and they make the cheapies and in my view the budget Magura stuff look like junk, and they fit Japanese cables.

I like that they have inner Teflon bush between the assembly and bars allowing them to rotate when hit and clicker on the adjuster, feels kinda precise and trick.

Is this one of those 'what is a genuine HL discussions' as looks like the seller has some issue about the NVT bikes...... I don't think being an early  laid down shock frame kit makes it any more special ( at least not 12000 squid special) than say a later NVT bike, which was actual complete bike. Plus it would look much more pukka in red and white not yellow.

So not my dream HL .... make mine the Pro Tec HL600 or Aberg's 3 valve head bike
