General Discussion / Re: Gas BBQ conversion to natural gas
« on: October 24, 2018, 04:38:07 pm »
BTU is an interesting point.  We have one barbecue that runs on LPG and another one that is the same brand and type (Weber) but slightly smaller that runs on natural gas.  I think the LPG one is heaps hotter and it is better to use.

It is convenience issue but I would only go for LPG now.

Bert feared his wife Peg wasn't hearing as well as she used to and he thought she might need a hearing aid.
Not quite sure how to approach her, he called the family Doctor to discuss the problem.

The Doctor told him there is a simple informal test the husband could perform to give the Doctor a better idea about her hearing loss.

'Here's what you do,' said the Doctor, 'stand about 40 feet away from her, and in a normal conversational speaking tone see if she hears you. If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response.'

That evening, the wife is in the kitchen cooking dinner, and he was In the den. He says to himself, 'I'm about 40 feet away, let's see what happens.' Then in a normal tone he asks, 'Honey, what's for dinner?'

 No response.

So the husband moves closer to the kitchen, about 30 feet from his wife and repeats, 'Peg, what's for dinner?'

 Still no response.

Next he moves into the dining room where he is about 20 feet from his Wife and asks, 'Honey, what's for dinner?'

 Again he gets no response.

So, he walks up to the kitchen door, about 10 feet away. 'Honey, what's for dinner?'

 Again there is no response.

So he walks right up behind her. 'Peg, what's for dinner?'

 (I just love this)
'For F#@k sake, Bert, for the FIFTH time, CHICKEN!'

The police phoned me to tell me my wife was in hospital.

 "How is she?" I asked.

 "Very critical," replied the officer.

"What's she complaining about now?"  I said

During a dull Parliament House dinner,
Chloe Shorten leaned over to chat with Governor General Cosgrove.

"I bought Bill a parrot for his birthday.
 That bird is so smart,
Bill has already taught him to say over two hundred words!"

“Very impressive," said Cosgrove,
"but, you do realise he just speaks the words.
He doesn't really understand what they all mean.”

"Oh, I know", replied Chloe,
“but neither does the parrot."

An Irishman, named Paddy,(what else), inherited his Uncles  house when he passed away, and  he came across 2 old Stuffed German Pointer Dogs. So, Paddy, thought to himself he would take them to the Antique Roadshow and have them appraised.
"Oh, my goodness," said the presenter, "These are a very rare set indeed, made by the British Taxidermy Company, in the late 17th century. Do you have any idea what they would fetch in good condition?"  the presenter asked.

 Paddy paused then said "Sticks."

An elderly couple are having dinner to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

The old man leans forward and says to his wife, "I want to assure you that these 50 years have been the most wonderful experience I could have ever hoped for and your answer will never take all that away.

'But it has always bothered me that our fifth child never quite looked like the rest of our children. I must know, did he have a different father?"

The wife drops her head, unable to look her husband in the eye, pauses for moment and then confesses. "Yes, he did."

"Who was he?" her husband asks.

The woman pauses, gulps down her wine and finally says, "You."

General Discussion / Re: BSA B50, Cheney, CCM Pre 75 Reference.

What are the chances of building a CCM up using those frames and then getting it road registered?  The motor would be OK but the frame would not have a compliance plate.  But it is pre 75 anyhow.  What are the thoughts on that?
It would be an awesome play trail bike.

Update - PayPal refunded all my money.  Even though I was not as careful as I probably should have been, I picked up the signs of scamming and notified PayPal within a couple of days of my payment - and it still had not gone to the scammer.  PayPal froze the payment, sought further info and then refunded it to me without any problems at all.    Whewwww!

Thanks Watto. The reference to Bunbury put me on a trail - I looked at the replies to his first add, checked those email addresses, googled the names in the addresses and one come up as being in Bunbury.  The circle closes!!!
Apparently the transaction has been cancelled by PayPal but I haven't seen anything from my end.  I think it will take a while before anything is actually resolved

I have bought a 77 Elsinore as a project.  It is a good basic bike but does need some work and it looks like the big end is gone in it.  I saw a new motor for sale on Elsinore-swap and put in an offer which was accepted.  A new motor - with a porcupine head - would solve all my problems!    I transferred the money via PayPal but the next day I saw a new add on Elsinore-swap offering a new 76 elsinore motor for sale using one of same photos that was sent to me!
The email address of the. Seller is not the same as the PayPal record of payment and it just seems not right.  The seller has notified Elsinore swap of a 'scam' with the new add and has assured me all is well but it seems odd.  The seller has also not answered my direct questions regarding the email addresses .
The seller is Soua Vang in the US

I have registered a problem with PayPal

I have asked him for his personal details and new photos with readable metadata. The seller is in the USA.

What do you reckon?  Preservere or pull the plug

A Doctor was addressing a large audience in the RSL Club. "The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here, years ago.
Red meat is awful. Soft drinks corrode your stomach lining. Chinese food is loaded with MSG. High fat diets can be disastrous, and none of us realizes the long-term harm caused by the germs in our drinking water. But there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all and we all have, or will, eat it. Can anyone here tell me what food it is that causes the most grief and suffering for years after eating it?"
After several seconds of quiet, a 75-year-old man in the front row raised his hand, and softly said, "Wedding Cake!!..
