Cool tracks, luckily my little sister is bike friendly. 1300m grass mx track to the west and flat track oval to the east, happy days.

Pretty good straight bike with what seems to be a good strong engine/clutch/gearbox. I built up this bike for myself but have found that with the limited amount of riding time I have these days I'm riding my modern all the time and this just sits around wasting away so it's better if someone else uses it. It's a very good starting point for a half decent race/ride bike and really requires no work whatsoever, maybe just a suspension service/revalve to suit a new owner.

GC plastics. VGC tank. VGC frame/swingarm. New seat cover.

New front brake disc and front brake line, front pads and rear shoes in VGC.

Rebuilt wheels with new rims/spokes/bearings and new tyres.

New heavier rate fork and shock springs.

Asking price is $3500.

Bike located in Bribie area and cash on pickup preferred as I will not pack or freight this bike.

Phone 0402543883 if interested, inspection is welcome. There's a couple of photos in the gumtree advert if interested.

so you reckon the bmw stuff hey curley. i'd heard that the red toyota stuff was also ok for magnesium but it still didn't totally stop corrosion.

i'm trying to track down some of that liquid intelligence stuff damo recommended, ballards have it for $38/litre but i've emailed the manufacturer to see if they have a distributor on the brissy northside or sunshine coast so i'll see how i go. have a look on their website if you're interested enough, it looks like the good gear and is recommended for vintage cars with pressureless cooling systems and also modern 4 stroke bikes that get frikkin hot because it's boiling point is so high at 190deg. used by ozzy isde teams too.

hey hoony, i've got some new rims and spokes to lace up for it, but once it's all put together i'll chuck up a piccy or three in the hondaphiles section

yep, i've heard of people using a coating of some sort either a paint or an epoxy but there's still those bits where surfaces meet, maybe the paint or coating should go over the surface where the gasket sits too. i've got a clutch cover/pump housing that's bogged up with epoxy to fill the holes right now but i do have a brand spanking new clutch cover ready to go for when this one finally corrodes to nothing so maybe paint is a good option for the new one.

thanx odd1, that's what a lot of people seem to do, i was trying to avoid having to do that if i could and track down a coolant that works with magnesium. there's a little bit out there in engineering papers about it as manufacturers are starting to look at magnesium again but nothing about currently available off the shelf products, only concoctions knocked up from different chemicals.

Hi guys, has anyone who has an early to mid 80's water cool bike played around much with which coolants minimise corrosion of cases/covers with a high magnesium content? I'm just finishing off fixing up a CR250RG and want to know what's a good coolant to use to slow down the dreaded Honda cancer. I've read about Motul's motocool organic coolant but has anyone got any other recommendations or has even gone so far as cooking up their own recipe of chemicals/additives?

This is still for sale if anyone's interested. I'm open to offers that aren't ridiculous if you think what I'm after is not a fair market price. Phone 0402543883.

I now have some photos available, call me and provide an email address if you would like me to email them.

I know Tony, i'm a disgrace, i just got to the point where i wasn't using it at all and preferred to use my modern or the 250RG because they were just easier. So i'd rather have someone use it than it just sit there in the shed gathering dust, you just don't see many G bangers around, a few H's, but very few G's.

hi paul, i don't have anything here at work so i might have to see if i can up load something over the weekend. there's nothing really much to see, it's an original australian delivered (so white plastics, red tank stripe) bike. the red tank stripe is now a bit faded and chipped away but other than that everything is in good order. it's not in showroom condition but it's no dunger either. best way for anyone who is serious is to inspect it.

Complete bike in good order. Only used a handful of times after a complete refurbishment including:
- fresh motor (rebuilt by previous owner who also checked out all electrics)
- new clutch
- new chain and sprockets
- new air filter
- new tyres
- frame and all engine components painted

Has good plastics, not all original as the side covers and front plate are DC items. Tank is original and in very good condition. Pipe is original and in very good condition. Alloy Answer muffler has some dents in it. Rims and hubs are original and in very good condition, spokes are original and old/tarnished. New rear spring. Bike has not been started for over 18 months and hasn't been ridden since CD in 2009. I never enjoyed starting it, but certainly enjoyed riding it. Gearbox shifts/selects fine last time it was ridden so should still be good. Shouldn't take much effort to get this bike up and running as a good original condition EVO racer.

Looking for $4000 or thereabouts. Located Caboolture/Bribie area north of Brisbane. Contact John on 0402543883 if interested.
