Introductions / Re: Gidday - I'm doing an intro coz itz been a while ...
« on: January 04, 2015, 07:36:21 pm »
Nah Mate, I have two Maicos.
I'll hafta come and watch a few races as I haven't been in a long time.

There's a track between Canungra and Beaudesert (as the Crow flies) and on random occasions I've called in and watched a few VMX laps there.
I don't ride dirt bikes anymore only road bikes most weekends - and I sometimes ride past this track.

I think you were at Ormeau ... you still there?

Haven't been here for a coupla years so I'll be having a scroll through to catch up.
I sometimes pick up the ol VMX mag in the Newsagents and see some familiar faces, names, bikes n race numbers there - good stuff  :)

I had a bit of a prang some time back and this affected my VMX 'participation'.
I'll be interested to see who's still here, still here from the Crew I remember.

I'm guessing like most forums there'll have been some blow ups n hissy fits etc but hey, nuthin new there right?
People come n people go but I'm hoping 'the Faithful' are still here.

Happy New Year to you all  ;)

Thanks for that but so far I've only seen them in a 'classic road bike' type magazine.
I remember when Bell was THE name in bike helmets but I'm struggling to find a local (SE Qld) Supplier anywhere.

Well done PB - be sure to introduce yourself around.  Hopefully we will be doing name labels again this year
I still have mine from CD5!

I see Bell have re-introduced that old open-face fave from back in the day, the RT.
Now called a Jet RT; anyone know if it's up to Aussie compliance standards?

I think we were all impressed by this bloke back in the day.
I understand his continuous wheelie record was 145 miles!

Apparently he died aged 44 in an ultralight prang when a wing tore the fabric during a turn - plane speared in from 700 feet up. :(

Entertaining stuff there Rudy! ;D

If motox-Cox went to School he just may understand 'xenophobic' - but 'arse' will throw him! :D
No way that'll make it into any American dictionary...

But let me say I've got no issues with the Yanks.
All those I've met and conversed with (in real life and the interweb) have all been as normal as any of my own fellow Aussies (and Kiwis ;)).

I reckon your Seppo mate would be a tosser no matter where he was born.

General Discussion / Re: SHOCK The Bill AXED
« on: March 28, 2010, 04:46:47 pm »
Axed?!  :o You're kidding right? I've watched almost every episode since maybe 1995 (and get a tad cranky if I miss it).
Sh1t! >:(
It certainly has changed from time to time and some eras are better than others.
But overall it's still my fave Copper show and much preferred over anything the Yanks (and us Aussies) can put together.

I think it was 'The Bill' that taught me cars don't always explode when they crash or get shot at - how's that for realism?!
They currently show older replays on the pay telly and with 27 years of footage in their archive I'll happily watch 'em all over again. ;)

System problems? / Problem registering on NING site.
« on: December 13, 2009, 08:42:31 am »
It's been yonks since I was last on this site - somewhere around the time it was relocated to NING.
Well, best I register to remain in the loop!
Last week I followed the guide and registered for the new site (or so I thought) expecting the promised e-mail would arrive allowing me to take the next step.
But that e-mail didn't eventuate...
Am I doing something wrong here Graeme?  :-\

Can you check to see if my application got stuck - like when your kids helpfully post your letters in the mailbox but their sticky fingers cause the letters to stick to the inside of the metal box and your speeding fine payment doesn't make it to the Penalties Office on time and then weeks later they send you an angry letter threatening a Court date and possible Jail time if you continue to ignore the fine and you spend f#ckin' ages on the phone hitting the prompts in an attempt to speak with a human (and preferably not an Indian Call Centre) so you can express your indignation as they're obviously a pack of liars because you have a receipt to prove...

Umm, I digress - can you pls check and advise?

Tidy machine! The tank looks plastic - am I right?
I had the very steel tanked 250 A4 back in the day; just can't remember what the 125's had.

Yes a good half back, but the man who's shoes he had to fill was possibly the best half back the rugby world has ever seen.

DJ, you're referring to Nick Farr-Jones I take it? You realise he's an Aussie, right? :o
Mate, when the kiwis on the forum read what you've just said you'll be banished from the land of the long white cloud!
You'll be the Salman Rushdie of New Zealand!
Call me when you get here - I'll arrange somewhere for you to hide... ;)

Sorry Wombat but if you are going to follow the Wobblies, and the not so dirty Reds, I'm sure you'll be a convert to the "Working Class" game of league by 2011.
My opinion is that Tackling Technique seems confusing for Union players as well.
It just so happens I was a passionate League follower before the whole 'Super League' debacle.
Hey I'm a Queenslander! It wasn't until I joined the Army and left the State I learned not everyone plays League - who knew?!
But I still watch the State of Origin and the Internationals (my teams win ;)) and the Grand Final, but rarely a League game in between.

To me League is the predictable one of the rugby codes: five tackles and kick, five tackles and kick, five tackles and .......... ad infinitum!!
And don't the crowd howl in protest should any player be so stupid as to kick on anything other than the last tackle!!
Stoppages? Are you kidding me? After every league tackle the two sides stop to line up and face off again!
Kicking aside, in Union the game will continue on and on - until someone finally cheats in the ruck.

But I will wholeheartedly agree on that waste of time we call a League scrum...  ::) >:( ??? what the hell is that about?
Bring back the contest of a scrum - or just throw it up and make them jump for it, but pls p1ss off that pale copy of a pack of 'Forwards'!

Sorry... I've banged on enough - we can chat about gang tackles some other time. ;)

Rugby? Yawwwwnnnnn! The Saints v The Cats Grand Final . Should be a cracker. :D

Gotta disagree on the yawn.
I was a ticket holder at the Brisbane Lions for about six or seven years (including the 3 in a row Premierships) and rarely missed a home game.
But I've given that seat the flick in favour of Rugby Union season tix for the Queensland Reds.

It's just not my game; I've tried but I can't get excited or care enough to watch it on the telly - except the Grand Final.
That's always good with beers at a mates BBQ.
And I've been to two Grand Finals - saw the Hawks beat the Eagles at Waverley and Adelaide beat the Saints at the MCG.
But after all this time I'm buggered if I understand the Aussie Rules version of a 'tackle'... that bear hug thing from behind.

AFL is an OK sport but it's unknown outside Australia - and don't even think about including that weird-arse hybrid game we play against the Irish!
And Rugby Union is global - it's massive!
For TV popularity it trails slightly behind the Soccer World Cup and the Olympics coverage.

But each to their own. And I'll be hoping for a Sainters win as I stand around with a beer at a BBQ...

Wombat was there, he'll have some good shots too.:)
Jackie Mac

Yeah I have a few photos but I don't think I can upload on here can I?
I only knew the 'old way' before that option was removed ... and I can't get my head around the photobucket type off-site hosting thingies...

I discovered my cheesy little digital camera has a 'movie option' (who knew?!) so I took loads of 30 second mini movies.
Hey Jackie, I have a photo of you on the day manning (or wo-manning...) the movie cameras on that large tower above the start straight.
How did you enjoy the experience?
And remember Leni Riefenstahl started the same way - and look what her movies and coverage did for Hitler!
Yep, VMX is gonna be big in Brissie when your stuff hits the TV!  :D ;D ;)

A married couple went to the hospital to have their baby delivered...transfer a portion of the mother's labour pain to the baby's father...

Fellas... just the men here... you know how we squeeze the car between the kerb and the stationary truck in front - without touching either?
You know how we sit (frustrated) behind the woman in front who won't move forward despite having a good half metre either side between truck and kerb?
Well, that's one of the differences between the two sexes. Or three sexes if we include the South African runner...

Anyway, my point is that we men are fully aware a watermelon won't fit through the garden hose... so we don't even try it.
Women on the other hand... ::)
