great event, loved it...I need bark busters and carry spare levers for next one, my little DT175 did an awesome job, I am very stiff and sore today though.
I couldn't find the person that loaned me a lever to give it back, come and see me at next event I get to and I will return it or pay for it, cheers

just found the cause of the melted piston, I filled the crank case with petrol Sunday, went to remove the engine from the frame tonight, which necessitates removing the ignition side cover to get one engine mount bolt out, when I loosened the screws, about a cup full of petrol came out...leaking crankshaft seal, who would have thought one could fail after only 25 years, and barely ridden

even though I only got about 18ks, I thought it was awesome, first time I have been trail riding (or practically any riding, except a few laps in my ~ 1 acre paddock) for almost 30 years, I was having a ball, and surprisingly stayed on the bike, some bits were very tricky, but am keen to do more events when I get the bike back together and richened up...a lot

apparently 2 sizes bigger on the main jet was no where near enough to support the mods I made

I thought all the euro bikes would intentionally leave entries until late, so the weather is a little warmer to help them start in one minute on Sunday?

thanks, I knew it was on VERI list, but wasn't sure if there may have been different criteria for the Harrow event, my bike is 1990, and is identical to my sons '85 and '86 models except for stickers, and mine has side stand kill switch

I will be there Saturday for a look, previous engagement Sunday rules me out from entering...and pre '85 only, does that mean I couldn't enter with my slightly later drum brake DT175?

of the ~ 40 bikes I have owned, road, trail and MX, the most fun bike out of the lot was a road registered YZ175C, wish I still had it

Hi,
this has all come about due to a long story, many years ago, my oldest son got his motorbike license, and needed a cheap reliable bike to commute the 20ks to work and back each day, we found an '86 DT175 in good nick for a good price, so bought it, and did the job admirably, until he got caught out in traffic and rode into the back of a stationary car, and wrote the car and bike off, with son doing complete somersault over the car and landed on the road in front of it, apart from severely bruised knee from the bars, and a scratched chin from the steel plate he was bringing home stuffed up his jumper, he was fine. this lead him to buy another bike the same and rode that, he eventually upgraded to other bikes, and gave the 2 DTs to my younger son, who then bought another one for spares etc....fast forward about 7 years, younger son moves over to my place, brings DTs with him, he stripped one to bare chassis and rebuilt it, then comes up with a bright idea that the 3 of us should have DT175s, and do some vinduro events, a few weeks later, this 1990 DT 175 pops up on face book, so I bought it.
