It's a simple, easy to follow rule, PRE 1990. I'm surprised how many people get confused and turn up at race days on later models!

the import taxes now make sure it is at least 500.00 aus $ cheaper than you can get here.the 250.00 dollar fee that customes put on now for evey invoice under 1000.00 makes the deals not worth it any more also under 90cents for aus $ is not good.use to be 1.10 us to 1 aus$I bought earthmoving equipment from the U.S. when the dollar was $1.05 in 2011. I guess customs fees would be avoided sending the bike inseperate boxes, valuing each at under $1000? I just need a cost effective courier.
In the USA though you might still be able to buy a two stroke in California, you are limited to when and where you can ride them, and it looks like you have to 'register' them.Ever been to L.A. the polution is discusting? I can see where the 4t push comes from.
So if the manufacturers still see California as one of their biggest market sales areas, they may be reluctant to go back to developing anything 2t.
And don't forget that Australia's sales market usually doesn't factor much into Japanese overall sales considerations.

I have an '84 CR500 that I am looking to do a fork upgrade on.It would be a shame if you wanted to race the pre 85 class, it would make the bike inelligable!
I want to keep the period appearance and am looking at the '88 CR units.
My question is if the '88 CR250 and '89 CR125 are the same basic units and if someone could confirm the staunchion diameters.
