Steel or alloy clutch plates in Honda CR500 ????
« on: October 05, 2014, 02:22:14 PM »
Can anyone tell me please if they know what material the metal clutch-plates are as standard in a 1984 Honda CR500RE, steel or alloy?  Thanks.

Steel standard in the '84.

The # 22321 KA4 741 from the 91 CR250 are aluminium and direct fit .

Wiseco also sell aluminium plates.

Thanks Al  :-)  I just inspected the clutch, everything looks brand-new, even the basket had no wear!  It has steel plates in it and Barnett HD springs, I wondered if the previous owner had updated it all.  I was going to put in steel plates if it had alloy.

I'm running alloy, the extra weight of steel is substatial. Obviously steel will last longer and your oil will not go black as quickly with steel.
