I have the black '74 C&J that Tony built & a lovely bike it is . Unfortunately I have trashed the gearbox - ripped all the dogs off 3rd gear - does anyone have any bright ideas on how to stop that happening again ?

the KLX250 prototype was created by a small team at Kawasaki USA by shoehorning a KL250 motor into a KX125a4 chassis , once the factory Ok'd the project they built a frame based on the prototype & used the swingarm out of the KDX400 twinshocker & the KLX was born

great resto , I think I can make a bike look good but I would struggle to get one up to that standard . The '89 KX250 is an awesome bike & would be my pick as a pre 90 race bike

I call in and see Tony (sudman) every trip through thru palmie and have a coffee , he is getting weaker all the time but still seems to be in good spirits & takes a keen interest in my progress with the '74 C&J XL412 that I bought off him (the black one on page 1 of this thread)
Tony is a top bloke , the world needs more sudmen

the original S12 was totally revamped about 18 months ago to the S12XC , looks the same but very different carcass , now work well on firmer gound as well as soft and last a lot longer , a perfect tire here in NZ
If you ride on harder terrain try the M12XC's

Ben Townley did very well considering he was lying on an operating table gutted like a fish not too many weks ago , to run at that pace so soon is impressive - watch out for BT - he will only get faster as his strength and fitness improve

sorry steve cant remember what springs & pins , I think for pins I drilled out the pegs and the frame mounts to the next size up and used high tensile bolts with shoulders on them , original springs i think

I fitted late model KX85 footpegs to my KX250a5 , just had to grind the peg width where they mount down a bit - they were too wide . I would be trying late model KX footpegs - DRC is one brand who do them at very reasonable prices

was Leisks win at a FIM sanctioned event ?, if it was just an american event where they pronounced him world champion it doesn't count - after all the american CLUB baseball competition is called the world series and the winning club team views themselves as world champions !!!!!!
