If the motor has never been apart, i would save the grief by rebuilding it, especially if you are going to effort of making it right look right.
Painting is easier if pulled apart i guess. The barrel will be bare. Head painted same as cases.
Paint stripper etc is the hard way to get the old paint off as it seems to stick big time to the cases. I have given gunter some cases to water blast this time to see how that goes (obviously better as i'm not doing the hard yards cleaning).
Rebuild, go for new rod, gudgen pin and little end, new set of mains/gearbox bearings, etc. and it will last a long while. Top end will need checking, and if within spec a hone maybe, or start fresh on the next oversize.
Carby - new slide, needle jet and needle for the Bing to cure any issues there.

All depends on what you want from it? a Show room looker, or a fully functional bike that will last.

They have replicated the 74.5 frame setup, using the swing arm and modified the farm to suit. Looks like the original tube, just added the shock mount and attached extra strength. Otherwise the airbox won't fit.

Need the numbers stamped in the front edge of the engine cases.
Frame looks like 73/early 74, like billy c's hare scrambler.

Yellow fibre glass parts are 73, but swing arm looks like mid to late 74.
Engine being black , could be a 73. But that's paint, need the stamped numbers.

Also , is there a silencer for the bike?

From what I can see, looks like 73 with  a later swing arm.

Luffy,
I believe David Fraser (of the ex David Fraser Motorcycles), had to of these in a box, the last i seen them.
I think they were ex flood race bikes.
Last i heard he was working for Delta Mining at Berrima Colliery NSW if that helps. i do know that they have since stopped working that colliery, but you may be able to contact there HR officer and get a contact number.

You can get them new to suit the 390 (surefit brand) from Andre at KTM Klassiker and they fit perfect.

As dennis says above ^
Notice, in the second photo, the rear loop section of the frame matches yours.

A big thanks goes out to Bill for coming up as mechanic for the Troy Bayliss Classic on Saturday.
A mixed day starting out with a dnf in the first round due to me being to quick on the gas out of the hairpin, to come back with 2 x 1st places and a 4th!
Very  happy with the day (except for the heat).

Thanks again Bill !! ;)

Thanks, but not interested in MOM's issues.

Bike is looking original for a later possible sale, any racing issues is the future owners problem.

General Discussion / Re: Goulburn swapmeet

My old man has been doing Bendigo swap since forever as his annual trip.
His and his best mates trick for years, was to book a selling site, even though they wouldn't use it. This gained them entry on the day before the swap started. This is where the bargains were....
