My godden. At the time I tried a modified KX80 front end with disc brake.

My first photo with a little help from a friend. This is a great shot of Bill Mcdonald taken at Tivoli. Big roostertail, all crossed up and an inch of air under the front tyre. I gave a copy of this to Bill a number of years ago, he had never seen it before. His comment was "I obviously saw the camera"

done a little more research. Kerry gray raced under two numbers that I know of. 323 was used when he was sponsored by brian scheisser on his jap.[ this was brians old race number.] his other race number was 34. number A9 in bigb's pics was steve regeling. my brother chris [563 in some of the pics] believes the photos were taken in 1977. it was at the big track at Tivoli. #31 is tony rose on his tz250 road race engine slider.

A93 was Robbie Ashton another QLDER. Sadly he died a couple of years ago. He was a very stylish and fast rider with speedway experience. Always on well presented fast bikes. I cant remember Kerry Grays race number... I will try to find out. I believe Kerry Gray was the last rider to win an ozzie title on a two valve motor. [84S JAP IN A HAGON SAND TRACKER]

I am sure everyone would love to see any more shots you have from that era. Your last pics were great. It is good to get some qld content onto the sight. These old photos trigger some great memories for anyone involved in the sport back then.

Hi all
#563 is my brother chris murphy. chris and myself raced dirt track in qld in the 80s and 90s. the bike he is on is a hagon speedway springer with an 84s jap motor. I was working with bill McDonald at the time the photo was taken. it is a sieger frame. these frames were made by a gentleman that had worked building elstar frames. If you look closely at the eccentric chain adjusters on the swing arm and also the bottoms of the front forks where the axle goes through you will see the resemblance to an elstar frame. I will try to post some pics soon from the qld scene from that era. On another note yes that is tom Gibson sitting on the Kawasaki slider..... surely one of the most spectacular riders ever on a 125/250 two stroke slider, also very good on a 500 [ and trials, mx and road racing.]
