Fitted the footpegs to my 75 KX250. Had to grind about 1.5 mm off the pin mount on the peg and I also ground off the stops at the top of the peg so that they fold up higher (I was concerned that the stops may cause the pegs to jam in the mount in an up position if the bike hit the deck hard enough), other then that it was an easy fit, didn't even have to drill out the pin mount holes on the frame. There is a negligible amount of droop that is barely noticeable when looking at them and I couldn't notice it at all when sitting on the bike. All in all very happy with the recommendation. Thanks Hardo, looks like a good option, I was interested if the pegs sit at the right angle from the frame ie no droop? I'll pick up a set on ebay and see how I go with them, they're cheap enough and if they worked on your KX's then they should work on mine too. Thanks again for the help.

Anybody else tried fitting late model wide pegs to mid 70's KXs? Wanting to know what pegs would work best on my 75 KX250 with the least amount of modification. Cheers.

A couple of differences that I can remember were longer travel forks and different shock on the D2 and the rear mudguard/numberplate combo on the D2 flared out on the right hand side to clear crap blowing out of the muffler. The mudguard/numberplate on my D1 went straight down. Probably other differences as well, but they are the main ones I recall.

Haven't raced with Heaven since 2006 and I'm thinking about rejoining this year, so I don't know what the era letters for the numberplates are. Any place I can find out?

Wanted / Vented Yellow Duckbill Peak/Visor

Hey guys, looking for a yellow vented duckbill visor, sometimes called a "spoiler". If you've got a NOS one that would be great, but a good condition used one is OK too. Not looking for the ones that are more like a motopeak shape, just the really flat duckbill type.

Lozza, I got a 1980 KE125 that'll go OK with a bit of work and has all the road legal stuff on it. And it's in Mayfield too! If you're interested let me know.

Geoff, you can get aftermarket seat foam for 80/81 KX's from DC Plastics or off Ebay. They should be the same as a KDX175.

Tried Geoff but he needs the bike to make sure the pipe fits properly and shipping it down and back is a hassle. Ideally if someone in Melbourne with the same model bike also wanted a pipe made we could possibly share costs of getting it set up with GMC.

Hi, I'm looking to get a pipe made for my 80 KX250. Does anyone know of any pipe builders in the Newcastle/Sydney area? I know that Doug Childress from the US makes a pipe for this model, but I would rather keep it local. Any help appreciated. Cheers, Rod.

I've thought about it Brendan and it may end up being the only option. There is a guy in Japan who makes fibreglass replicas of some of the earlier twinshock model works Kawasaki tanks, but not this particular model. I've got two of his tanks and they are real nice.

Hey Rookie. These tanks appeared on the works Kawasakis at the 1979 Trans USA and were used throughout 1980. The spark plug "dent" reference is to a photo caption from Motocross Action in 1980. Trevor Williams SR440 had one of these tanks. I think his split open a few times. Below is an example on Jeff Ward's bike at the 1979 Anaheim Supercross.
