What is a 125B...???..never heard of one...certainly an "A" model and then a C model but ...to my recollection there was no "B"...
-
definately was a "B" Yammiefan and your looking at the true colour scheme right there.
t'was basically a yellow "A" 125.
nice tank 8)
-
definitly was a b mate just wernt that common
-
I always thought it was...silver tank=YZ125, Yellow tank=YZ125a. That's how I believe it went with the 250, so I'd assume the 125 was the same.. I'm backing Yammiefan on this.
Whatever the correct answer is, I'm sure Nathan will come on and set us straight.

Nathan doesn't know poo poo! :D
silver then yellow for the big MX's yes Firko but i've never seen or heard of a silver MX125. but i'd sure love to see one as it'd be a cool colour scheme. have thought about doing such a thing to my little beast but i'm shying away from silver as the 125 class is already that colour.
but this is a "YZ125b" tank and it's the goods as far as i'm concerned.

OOPS, there goes my cred!....I mean't YZ not MX.
-
Its a B that I got in the states.
They are rare over here .Im not sure but I dont htink that they were imported to OZ .Maybe they had enough A's in the warehouse until the YZ125C 's can along.

Alas, it is true - I prefer to learn about useful stuff, any leave the study of turds to others, like Vandy. ;D
Plus what motomaniac and Vandy said.

Woo hoo! Meeoooow! Phhsst....... ;D

Not wanting to doubt you guys that obviously know your Yamahas but why can't I find a photo of one anywhere. There are mentions of them on various parts sources like Bike Bandit and sutch but no complete bikes. All I want IS to see is a photo of a YZ125B and not the 1991 model. I Googled and got zilch which sets off my doubt mechanism.

Well there ya go. Never seen one.
-
Another reason that you don't see them Firko is that they went Elsinore mad in the US and since the B was just a A painted yellow it didnt really get much attention.
-
if you going to have a "A" then me thinks keep it original, if you running a "B" then its open to update a bit.
MY examples for ya FIRKO

has the A got the original rims? the B has new ones or???
-
'A' had both muddies and flats infact i think there was 3 makes offered in the end, i have 2 "A" and they both have differant orignal rims ( go figure) forks where the same but most 75 ers dropped em out for the 250YZ front end and wheel, makes a big differance.
Any one got a backing plate for a YZ 250A/B while i think of it ? or are they the same as ther MX 250B ?
-
according to my web search here are some numbers - quite a few made for something so rare?
1975 125 YZ125B 453-100101 101620 (qty produced)

but not many in OZ.

I wouldnt say 1,519 is a lot of bikes Ross ?
I think your misreading the info you have, thats the serial spread.
you take the starting production number from the last serial production model, you can also add about 200 left cases and frames to any yamaha model as they sold them as a replacement part , often with blank cases or no numbers
453 -100101 to 453 - 101620

It has the same colours etc of the YZ80B (1975).I have seen plenty of those but I can't recall seeing a 125B- until now that is. It wouldn't of had the LTR rear though would it?

Ithink that you are right about the LTR , might be a mod but the MX125B (also rare) did have slightly canted shocks like that.
-
OK Freaky - that makes sense as I thought 101 odd thousand was far from rare!!!! :P

The MX125B is a white replica of the MX125A - including the upright rear shocks.
The rare MX125C had lay-down twin shocks from the factory (very similar to a TT500).
WRT the YZ125A rims, they came with Jap Mudcatchers, Takasago mudless, or DID mudless.

You are right I was thinking of the C with the laydowns
