:o :o phark! I just got a call from Dodgee and I can't believe it! TMBill has broken his leg in a crash in the last race at the Connondale Classic. Apparently swapping rides to DJ's Noguchi Bill came a gutsa where the track winds it's way up and down the hills not far from the start. Best wishes for Bill who is, as I type, in Nambour Base Hospital having the situation assessed. I know you're a little determined at times but never did I realize you'd go to such extremes to get the drug testing you wanted prior to the meeting! :o Can't fix what's already done so I can only offer my best wishes for a speedy recovery mate ;)
-
Best Wishes Bill from the forum witch
keep suckin on that pethadine :-*
-
Bill ,I hope its not to bad . I wish you a speedy recovery . ( I cant ride the sidcar at CD6 without a good swinger like you) cheers Walter
-
Speedy recovery Bill. I'm sure you'll be up and about soon... It's hard to keep a good man down. ;)
-
Bugger, revenge of the Noguchi perhaps after Bill broke it a couple of months back?
Seriously though, hopefully it's a minor break, if there is such a thing, and all the best for a full and speedy recovery.
-
hope it heals real soom tmbill, you will have time for a quiz now.

I bet he gets a pug ugly nurse for the sponge bath just to top it off.
:D
Years ago, we used to get into a particular nurses home for "recreation". I knocked back one especially unattractive example............
3 weeks later I was being put under to reset my broken wrist when I recocnised this same nurse in the O.R..............
Don't know what happened while I was under and don't want to know.................... :-\

Brad here mate. Just got home. I spoke to DJ who went with Bill to Nambour hospital and both DJ and John are staying up with him tonight. I will send you my phone numbers via PM and also DJ's if you like. Cheers, Brad
-
Mr. Bill Senior, I've just read your post and I've called the Hospital to speak with Bill.
He doesn't have your number so he can't call you at present. He asks you call his Missus (Volaria?) and she will advise ward number etc.
He says he has a break in the lower left leg and they will operate tomorrow.
He adds he is being looked after very well, "All's good!" in his own words and DJ is there with him as we speak.
I called the 5470 6600 number and got through. Pls check you are dialing the correct Country and area codes, that may be the problem.
I was there when he was being treated at the track and I can assure you he's in good spirits.
-
Spiral break of the fibia is the diagnosis. A descision to be made tomorrow on the course of action.
Bills dad, check you personal messages for DJ's phone number
-
I was there when he was being treated at the track and I can assure you he's in good spirits.[/i]
He seems to be always in good spirits. :D I think that's why this thread is so popular. ;)
-
Is a spare bed and plenty of space for bikes and kit at my place at Bald hills not that far from brisneyland airport if its needed guys.
pm me for a phone number or whatever if I can help out in anyway guys.
-
not too good there Bill, get welll soon champ!
although, most stories i've heard about Nambour hospital? they go in, but they never come out.......
;)
-
I was typing a bit of a story for you blokes when Bills Dad posted; so priorities first!
Anyhoos, I type slow so I don't want to waste the bit I had tapped out:
Jeez news travels fast! I've just got in the door from Connondale and you blokes have already pumped out a zillion tributes.
Yep, it's an unfortunate story but in true Bill fashion he's turned a painful incident into quite a laugh; believe it or not.
When Bill left for the Hospital in the back of the Ambulance - with DJ driving (someone else can tell that story) it was believed to be a broken leg.
Can I tell you something about Bill? He's consistent!
He's a funny bugger on the forum, he's a funny bugger in person and he's a real funny bugger when he's lying next to his bike with a painful (most likely broken) leg.
Everyone who was there with Bill can tell you he's a crack up even in the throes of pain.
As bad as it was, with Bill sucking some magic anaesthetic from a green tube and a morphine shot in the arm, he kept on trotting out the one liners.
He even found a moment to sing the chorus line from the old Police classic, 'Roxanne'.
He's lying there with three or four Ambos attending, maybe another four or five Riders and onlookers and rising out of the scene is "ROXXXX-AAAANNE!!!" at full noise!
I can't remember ever laughing so hard at the scene of a motorcycle accident! and I mean that with all respect to Bill.
The Ambos are asking the serious questions and Bill's firing back with pure comedy!
That was the scene at the track this morning.
He now sounds his normal self on the phone and he's happy with his treatment.
DJ is with him - and plenty of us live in the greater Brisbane area and are happy to help in any way.
Be assured TM Bill is held in high regard within the VMX community - despite being both a Pom and a Kiwi! ;)
He's now got more personal mobile numbers and offers of help than he'll know what to do with.
-
Spoke to Bill he's sitting up in bed he's having an op tommorow morning he's on the morphine and is cheerfull
Thanks for the help from you guys in locating him, mums happy now.
Bill senior
-
Bill as Billjackjane has already honestly stated "Aw forket get well soon!" but stay morphine zonked for now ;) Tim Well .... You don't have to put on that red dress tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Spoke to Bill he's sitting up in bed he's having an op tommorow morning he's on the morphine and is cheerfull
Thanks for the help from you guys in locating him, mums happy now.
Bill senior
Thanks for the update, glad to hear you're able to chat with him.
And here's Bill this morning - heading out for a practice lap in his new jersey, courtesy of Dad.
-
Im bettin he wil try the red dress on just cause he can ;)
Best of luck with the nursies young william
-
Thats a bit of bad news, hope it goes well tomorrow bill, He's got the perfect excuse for sittin around with no pants on now ;D
Cheers KB.
-
All the best Bill. I passed on your predicament to all of the Kevlar brothers this evening and we all pass on our regards and best wishes.
-
This thread disturbs me on many levels.
Firstly because I've been altered to the fact that Bill has a mother - I'd been assuming that he simply sprung from the earth, like something from a Tolkien story.
Secondly, because he's probably going to spend at lot more time at the PC, and will (further) lower the tone of these forums.
Finally, because its never cool when people get hurt, particularly fellow VMXers, and extra-particularly those that are good blokes like Bill.
-
I'm sure Bill will recover just fine(Dr death is in custody), just Nambour Hospital will have the scars though, geez Bill just think of all those undesirable loan defaulters who get to keep their clapped out car for a few months with out you repossesing them ;D
Remember chicks dig scars.
Cheers
Lozza
-
As he was laying on the track all he wanted to do was get the bike and him out of the way so he wouldn't stuff up our day by having to restart the race. Best off luck Bill hope you have a speedy recovery. Darcy
P.s. I was a couple of bikes back when he hit the dirt and it didn't look good >:(
-
Have seen TM bill legless but not with broken leg,all the best from from kiwi klub kevlar get well the suzuki you broke is fixed and waiting for you
-
Sorry Mr Bill Doe senior. I had thought when I posted this initially that it would cause a little concern to his immediate family and friends but I had no way of contacting anyone to get further contact info. I had actually been told it was a bad break but I ommitted that bit initially so as no to cause further stress. Bill get better soon mate and don't worry, I disagree with Vandy for the simple reason my Mum went into Nambour Hospital about 45 years and came out with me. I was born there! ;D
-
Hope every things goes alright,
We had a broken leg in Canberra as well during practice on Sat, and
its a bit sobering when you realise you have to get someone else to drive home after the meeting,
speedy recovery guys.
Cheers
Noel
-
I know we all wish Bill a speedy recovery, but spare a thought for the poor nurses that have to look after him. I bet they will get more than they bargained for on their next few shifts. If he is not careful it could be bed baths from the Matron with a cold spoon!!!
Keep it up Bill the forum is behind you.

-
Keep it up Bill
But not during those bed baths.............. :-\

I was kindly greeted by two lunatics with a funny accent wearing t shirts with WHO THE F*CK IS MAGOO written across the front. The boys were having an absolute ball. I was sitting on the start line for the next race when Bill hit the deck in a big way. It is an absolute testament to the character of the Kiwi boys who travelled over for the meeting. They could hardly find a negative in the whole situation, just basically saying "shit happens, let's get on with it". DJ reckons he'll be out Tuesday for sure because they won't be able to put up with him any more. Two questions, has anyone got any photos of DJ driving the Ambulance, and did they let him use the siren? Get well sonn Bill.
-
went and saw young Bill at the hospital today and he's doing fine, heading home tomorrow for surgery back home, and as far as Magoo goes his face was a grin from ear to ear with the news that even NZ team beat the NSW in the State of Oranges event. ;D.
all the best bill and fast recovery.
Cheers Trev
-
Are you trying to say something Trev? N.S.W. came last in the State of Origin and our team (Magoo, Squirtmoto, Holeshot Buddy and Bultaccomacca came last in the relay. At least we're consistent.
-
magoo i know ajvmx had a photo shot of dj returning in the ambulance.
-
He told me he did too, I'm sure he'll enlighten us further. Apparently after Bill was given some happy gas and morphein all he was worried about was "those bastards taking away our traditional fishing tights". What the hell was that about? I spoke to the Ambo about an hour later and he said Bill was having a great old time after he'd pumped him up a bit.
-
Bill was on the ground when I came over the hill (I was on his RM by the way) and it scared me a bit to see him not moving.
His main concern was not spoiling our days riding, he wanted me to drag him off the track so as not to hold things up. At one stage we virtually had to hold him down to stop him trying to crawl away!
Hope all works out well Bill and our best wishes.
Brent

What...replace the mist with two stroke smoke?
-
Hi Guys
Thanks for the kind words and all the support that has been said here. Bill is flying home with us on Tuesday evening and once back home his leg will be x-rayed again and the decession to operate or not will be made then. I know Bill would like the thank the medics and everyone who helped him out on the track. I do know for sure that he said he would shout the ambo driver if he stopped hitting every bump in the road.
Even when Bill was laying in the ambo waiting to go to hospital he spied a motor sitting on the ground for sale and he called me over and said "DJ, whats that motor over there and how much do they want for it".
-
Speedy recovery TMBill, hope the nurses are taking good care of you. ;)
Keep Smiling
Jackiemac

-
Hope the trip home goes well,as for sympathy im struggling a bit here, didnt your mum ever teach you about mixing ya drinks, girls or bikes, you ride your Suzuki all day then like a cheap whore decide to try something different, which it turns out is a YamaHA in decise and we know why they call them YamaHA,s because they allways like to have the last laugh, so im sure you have learnt your lesson and wont let it happen again.
Hope you have a speedy recovery all the best see you soon.

Gidday i dont know where to start really, a huge thankyou to everybody for their kind words , i am truly humbled :-[
DJ John and myself had a fantastic time at the Connondale Classic and would like to thank everybody involved for showing us a great time :) We will collectivly write a Kiwi race report and as i will probably have a bit of spare time i will post it on the forum :)
I am back home in Unzud and in the tender care of my beautifull Valeria ;D thanks to the tireless efforts of a bloke called DJ , who from the moment i hit the deck put his own trip on hold to do everything to get me home on the flight as planned with minimal discomfort :)
Thanks DJ your a f%&king legend.
Still not sure what happened but i know it was entirley pilot error ::) I apologise to the club as i have probably caused a shit load of unessercery paperwork. I did ask to be dragged into the road so as to explain to the authorites that i fell off the bus on my way to a fancy dress party ;D (found this works in the past and keeps those MC accident statistics down ;) )
Seriously though i was in some discomfort and the medical staff on site were teriffic thanks guys. Thanks Trev for the hospital visit it meant a lot :) sorry if i was still a bit dopey i was taking advantage of the free chemicals ;)
I got my wish of drug testing and can report that the drugs available were spot on ;D Looking for a wholesale supplier for those green whistles as i believe i can find a boyant market for them :D
The prognosis is iv'e broken the left Tibia (matches the right one i broke 25 yrs ago ::) )
I will see the specialist tomorrow to sort out the best (fastest ) way to fix it.
I cant speak highly enough of the care i recieved from the moment i arsed off till i got off the plane at Auckland .
The Paramedics at the track , all the staff at the Nandour general hospital , Virgin Pacific airline staff and of course all of you bastards for the kind thoughts and words.
Thanks again TM BILL Taupo NZ formerly Portsmouth England ;)
-
Good on Ya Bill, wishing you a speedy recovery and a hope you can get back to riding in the very near future.
-
Good to hear you made it back ok Ira.I shall be in touch.
Cheers Liz
-
Hey Bill, good to hear you are back home in (sort of) one piece. I hope the break is not too bad and heals quickly.
It was great to meet you and DJ and John on Friday night when you were preparing your Corn Flake sandwiches for dinner.... yummmm. In fact, I'm not sure what happened on Friday night but Saturday was a total write-off for me.
Cheers, Tim

I didnt realise you wanted him out of the country that bad, but it was cool having a police escort ;D
-
We'll have a little drink in honour of Bill at the Klub Kevlar half yearly soiree on Saturday evening. I hope he's back and at 'em sooner than later. I'm sure the lovely Valeria will smother him with lots of good Italian food to help ease the pain.
DJ..Did you get the DVDs? Oh, and thanks for the giant Hindall Tshirt boys. Nice thought.
-
Firko, yes I walked in tonight and there it was, thanks so much, it is one very cool dvd and I havnt been through the pictures yet but cant wait.
The T shirts were to take the piss out of Magoo but we couldnt let you get away scott free. ;) ;D

That must be one of the best Sherbert fountains ever produced, judging by the look in his eyes.... ;D
Bill Oddie would have been envious. ::)

TM
Just a quick one Bill, hope you get well / heal quickly. These broken parts are sure ment to try us and usually throw everything in a spin for a while. All I remember was coming around that right hander, dust everywhere, visibility shit, over the small drop-off and there was this fallen rider further down the hill. What the heck, around him we / most go, it was not till we all arrived back to the same spot after the first lap that we realised the seriousness of the off. Did you get the number of who took you out??
Anyway, it was good to have a chat on the Saturday arvo at our camp spot, you may remember us, Ed and I were up near the amenities block with his RM125S and 125C and my RM250B.
Peter (pmc57)

Gidday all :) thought i better give an update on the Poms progress :D
Thanks to all who have sent PMs and emails , its only been three and a half weeks and it seems like a bloody lifetime ::)
I still feel a bit embarressed about the whole thing :-[ still dont know what happened ??? maybe it was Nogouchi pay back time ;D
Went to the cattle shed (they laughingly call a hospital here) yesterday for a check up and was told im in this cast up to my clangers for another month ::)
If after another month theres no sign of mending then they will probably operate , WTF dont you operate now then ::)
well thats the public health service for you , i should have let them operate at Nambour . The difference between the way i was treated there and here was night and day.
Its probably different if you live there but from what i saw you guys have a great medical system :)
Enough of the negatives ::) im at work for a few hours a day driving a desk and using up my limited people skills to deal with the punters ;D
I haven 't even really looked at my bikes since i got back but i will get the boys to build me a bench so i can work on them sitting down.
DJs masters of MX was by all accounts a great event , i wasn't able to get down to it but DJ showed me the track the following week and man that was a great venue.
Our Kiwi VMX series starts next weekend , RD 1 is back where the masters was and the series runs through till April.
I am aiming to get back on my bike for Rd 3 in febuary , but some of the blokes are picking me up to take me to the first couple of rounds :D
Connondale was a great event :) i loved the track and the format worked well , i was sorry to miss the novelty races :(
It was great to meet so many of you in person over a beer or too :)
DJ and i are keen to come back to do CD 6 and the nationals ( if the club will let me back ) and John is i believe building a Pre 78 125 weapon for the nats.
Brad is planning a trip over here in November :) hopefully he will get to race a vintage meet and a modern meeting while here :) It will give us chance to return some of the great hospitality Brad and his family have shown us :)
Well thats about all for now , thanks again to all who made our Connondale trip a memorable one cant wait to do it again ;)
Bill

Glad to see you're on the mend Bill!
Funny you praise our medical system; over the last week or so our media have done several stories on the overcrowding/lack of beds etc.
Front pages of our Queensland papers were dedicated to photos of patients waiting in Hospital corridors etc.
Then the TV Reporters got onto it and beat it to death.
It then became apparent the Government had included 'home bound' patients beds in the overall tally of medical beds in Queensland!
I'm not sure what to think - you know what the media is like when they get on a roll.
But at least they looked after you! Must be that charm ay?
By the way, I have a few photos of you at the crash scene when the Ambos were cutting and you were talking land rights and singing etc.
I'll send to you - I have your business card from CD5; I'll assume the e-mail remains the same?
-
Thanks Graeme :) email is still [email protected]
Yep i cant speak highly enough of my treatment over there ;D the ambulance driver seemed strangley familier though ???
-
I think I know the ambo driver, he was last seen running down the road with a bottle of Nitrous Oxide..... dont know whether it was for him or bolting it to a bike ;) ;D ;D
-
Glad to hear your sense of humour is in tact old mate. I saw the ambulance driver and I'll tell you what, broken leg or not, I would've walked. Onya boys.
