Classic Dirt 12 Is on at Conondale on the 10-13th of June. The Tracks at CD11 were some of the best and to make them even better we have already started work on the Enduro and MX tracks. The Grass Track will be smooth and fast.

RE the image of the Pre 78 track. What is a ripply downhill? This is a Pre 78 track, the first Supercross wasn't run in Australia until Archerfield 1979.

Hi Noel are they going to have sidecars this or just solos ???

Your got to be kidding don't ya?
Have you ever been to a CD? at Conondale?
There is twenty million tons of accommodation and venues down the road from Conondale at some Beautiful Dappa village that I forget the name off,
but if the Hollywood crew knew of it, they would be hanging out there.
Your friends and rellos can hang there after your wedding.
Don't worry about the wedding, I don't like weddings anyhow, just receptions. So,oooo
You can extended party all weekend at the Conondale "Maggoo Bar"
The only chance you have of keeeping her with the Tony program,
is to start things right on the Tony program in the beginning, so see ya at the Maggoo bar.
Heck I will even buy you and your beloved a decent pressy!
What an opportunity, show her some pics of CD10 and CD11. What an awsome place for a Honeymoon.
-
Congratulations and good luck ;)
-
Haha. I like it Mick. Lemme float it tonight and report back tomorrow. if you don't hear from me you can assume I have my jaw wired shut.
But in all seriousness seeing as how the wedding is on the 4th, I had considered selling her on the idea of a nice quiet romantic week at Maleny for the honeymoon.
Imagine my surpirse when we get there and find out that CD is on that weekend too. Just need to work out an excuse for taking a bike on the trailer as we leave the reception.
-
I'll take your bike home with me after the wedding (tell her it's just on loan till the next weekend). Then when you rock up to CD12 and I'm flogging the be-jesus out of it, I can just drop the old "would ya like to ave-a-go off youse bike mate!"..............she'll be nun the wiser ;)

We are looking to put together a TV, FB & YouTube commercial for Classic Dirt. We are after good quality footage of not just the riding but also the bikes and the social side of the event. If you have or know someone who has some CD footage, Please let me know. Thanks

Classic Dirt 12 - ENTER NOW
You can now enter online for CD12 at www.nominate.com.au (http://www.nominate.com.au) then go to Entries and Sunshine Coast MCC Classic Dirt 12. Rider entry is simplified this year, it is just a flat $110 and that includes the lot - riding permit for both Saturday and Sunday, entry to the event for the three days and camping. If you need a One Event Licence then that will be extra but it can all be done on the Nominate site. You can enter non-riders while you're doing your rider entry as well and the price for spectator entry has also been simplified, a flat $20, for one day or three, and, camping is again included. Please bring your receipt with you and show it at the gate when you enter.www.nominate.com.au (http://www.nominate.com.au)
-
Are the organisers featuring cats this year ???
-
do you have to pre register or can you register on the day. I am coming over from WA for the Nats and want to attend Classic Dirt, and possibly grovel for a ride or two, mx and vinduro
Barry
-
Is there a cut off date for entries?
-
In previous years it has been when the max number of riders have entered.
-
No pre 95 class??? ??? :'( :'(

Broc Glover for Classic Dirt 12!!
Six-time AMA National Motocross Champ Broc Glover has been confirmed by Yamaha Australia as a definite starter at Classic Dirt 12. What an absolute legend to have at the event, he's the winningest Yamaha rider in US Motocross history. As well, Broc is a really down to earth guy and he will love having a chat to all his Aussie fans at Classic Dirt. He's still damn fast on a dirt bike and will be out on the track on Saturday for the Legends Laps session. Stay tuned, there may be even more exciting news in days to come.

Heikki Mikkola for Classic Dirt 12!!
You read that correctly, as well as Broc Glover, Yamaha Australia is bringing Heikki Mikkola out from Finland for Classic Dirt, to help celebrate Yamaha's 60th anniversary. Heikki, known as the 'Flyin' Finn', won four World Motocross Championships, two of them being with Yamaha, in 1977 and 1978. They were both in the 500cc class and indeed, Heikki gave Yamaha their very first 500cc World Motocross Championship. He had won two World Championships previously, with Husqvarna, in 1974 and 1976 and was the first rider to win World Motocross Championships in both the 250cc and 500cc classes.
Heikki is a motocross superstar, right up there with the likes of DeCoster and Robert, and it will be just sensational to have him with us at Classic Dirt 12. With Mikkola and Broc Glover, this is going to be one hell of an event! A huge thanks to Yamaha Australia for making this possible.

The entry form in utter bull shit to me . I just want to ride my bike , drink a beer with some mates , now I don't think I will go. Have we really let things get this bad?
-

I can't understand what you are complaining about. The sup-regs and simple entry form just helps getting it all organised. Try organising something with 600 riders and probably twice as many bikes and then see if you think it is necessary.
-
Had the same problem last night .... you have to tick Spectator even though you are an entrant for some mad reason.
It automatically adds a recreational license fee then deducts it in check out ... WTF
$110-oo plus green park levy of $5-oo total should be $115-oo
for each spectator add another $20-oo per person
Talk about collecting your personal details ... they can get farked .... just put 000 in fields.
-
good $$ for selling data to advertisers...hence a lot of online booking systems are the go. easy for the club and the web host "MAY" get a kicker later. im sure not everyone does this..... I do know that everytime I go to a conference / seminar etc, im bombarded with stuff for months afterwards
-
I agree, it's over the top, but that's the way of the world. In fact as far as somethings go, it's lucky it's not worse. (Here is the high Vis gear I promise to wear at all times!")
This is a standard entry form these days.
I record all the details (Drs details etc) on a piece of paper. Helps speed it up each time. You can make a lot of it up if that suits.
The only two glitches I came up against were:
The first entry is for printing out. Click "agree" and "next" and you get an online form.
As mentioned, it won't accept blank for spectators. I typed "Na".
The whole thing took 5 mins.
I think you can pay on the day? If there are any spaces left.
News flash Slakewell.
We all just want to ride our bikes and drink beer with our mates. ;)
Fill in the crappy form, pay $115 (if you have a competition Licence) and come and ride, drink beer, and thank our lucky stars someone else is organizing this great track/event for us!
:)

Have a Beer Mick and go through the process you know it will be worth it :D
Kev has tried to explain in his usual hand grenade way ::) I find it a pain in the arse to but im sure the VMX team wouldn't have gone down that road if it wasnt necessary .
It seems more and more events over your way are using this system, like Stew says its flawed in so much as you cannot think like a MXer when trying to navigate it you have to think like a robot ::)
Thats why Kev embraces it ;D
-
Come on Slacko , get with the programme.
Drag that 360 out and we will hammer it on the pre-78 track 8)
-
They got the VIP riders out for us TMBill ,you crossing the ditch for #12 ? :P :)
-
Yes Mick, and stay up for the Classic Nats the weekend after. We need your smiling face. 25th Anniversary since the first at Dargle 1991. A lot of the originals will be there
-
What about you Bill, you in for the Nats ?
-
Thanks Col but at this stage even CD is looking unlikley for me due to a few bumps in my personal life ::)
Both will be great events i know and never say never ;D
What a coup for Ken and VMX mag though getting not only Broc Glover but now the Legend of all legends Mr Heikki Mikkola 8) 8) 8) fantastic effort ;D

Ok I have entered. I needed 2 beers just so I could bear it. WTF they need my doctors phone number? Like he would answer if they rang?
Not sure my reason for last unconscious reason being 2 bottles of red is relevant as well.
Why is it? I can go hire a motorcycle in some far off country and then ride it thou 5 other countries in 2 weeks and fill out less/easier forms than to ride at CD?
-

"The world is going to hell in a hand cart"
It drives me mental. (My wife's last .22 cal target pistol was confiscated because "it's 7mm too short, under the NEW rules" WTF?!?)
Anyway, well done. ;D
I'll try and meet a few of the "names" from the forum at CD.
I'll be the one walking around at night with a LED hat, drinking Coopers Best Extra stout. During the day I'll be looking at my RM125X wondering how I used to keep in in the power band 100% of the time......

Thanks in advance Ken and team ...
Thanks NSR and the ground crew ...
Thank you Maleny Mothers Club!
Thanks to Yamaha for bringing in guest champions ...
I'm looking forward to some great times up at Conondale next month.

Booked and will be there looking for a ride or two coming from the West

The entry form in utter bull shit to me . I just want to ride my bike , drink a beer with some mates , now I don't think I will go. Have we really let things get this bad?
Sorry for your misery, we didn’t mean it. You could just ask how to fill it out. I have trouble filling out things on line all the time. As you can see people have come on here to help. This is normally used for competition that's why you have to fill in the what bike section it does not matter what you put in there.
Talk about collecting your personal details ... they can get farked .... just put 000 in fields.

The Personal detail are not to sell! They are collected to help if you get hurt. You get hurt, your number or in CDs case your name is radioed to the race sec who looks it up presses print and there is all your Personal and medical details. No bad hand writing, misspelt names and wrong PH numbers. Believe me they make sure that form is with you for the trip to the hospital.
People seem to forget while this event is on every one of you are the responsibility of a handful of people. The people collecting this info could not careless about this info until YOU need it.
How cool is this? Heikki Mikkola and Broc Glover are coming to Classic Dirt!!

First world problems, If you have the opportunity you should be there.

Entered. Took around 3 minutes. Easy as. I can't drink any more than half a stubby in 3 minutes anymore :)
-
This will be awesome, I'd rather have the ambos know I'm alergic to certain pain killers then kill me on the track.
Small price to pay that 3 minutes you prob wouldn't do a lap of the pre 78 and open track in that time .unless u r a pro.
Lighten up, ride and have fun!!!!!
Cheers kim

Hi Guys, special request. I'm putting this out there in the hope that someone has a very special jersey. Just got off the phone with Mike Landman #ML45, Yamaha legend of the 70's & 80's. He recently restored his 1978 YZ400E that Brent Landman and I got for him. Mike is chasing a Yamaha Motocraft Jersey from back in the day. He is willing to pay for it. If you have one, or know of someone who has one, please contact me. Mike wants it in time for Classic Dirt 12 Yamaha's 60th anniversary in Qld in June. Cheers Gaz...bring it to CD12 and share if you could ..cheers
-
Rosco Holden believes Trevor Flood still has one - and that ML could borrow it.
-
Alison great news if Mike is going to C/D, I had him in Unzud for a meeting in 70's.Talking to a friend of his at a previous C/D he did not think he would come out again, great news
-
Bazza thats they way i also read Garys jersey request.
Suspect every Yamaha rider/guru from beyond the black stump will attend this one.
You crossing the ditch Bazza ?

So, if we bring our gear will we get a ride. :)
-
The fees for a spectator are listed in the VMX mag as being a flat $20 a head for 1 day or 3 days with camping included. This has to be the deal of the year for us who no longer ride but still enjoy the bikes and catching up with mates for a beer or three. Well done to all of the organisers. After travelling 10 to 12 hours it's good not to get slugged with a big admittance fee, makes what looks like being a great weekend even better.
Now I suppose someone will tell me that I have read it wrong and the entry is much higher.
Zane

will see you there Zane

weather on the Sunny coast at the moment is pissing down. Tomorrow is suppose to be worse with flooding and high winds in case no one sees the news.. this all means the water truck wont be required at conondale.
Sunday its suppose to start clearing and drying out with clear sunny days during the week and not too cold at night. doesnt sound like conondale in winter at all .
next weekend is suppose to be... Clear and sunny 8)

Last year was pretty mild too. I don't think old mate selling firewood did very well.
-
Keith the firewood guy rides and is a nice guy. he is a member of maleny trail riders and i think they do it as a fund raiser. i think its pretty cool that so many local groups are supporting this event and in turn we are supporting them.

Hopefully it'll be cool and they'll be able to sell some firewood. Always a good idea to spend some dollars with the local groups who are putting on food and drink at events around the place.

Very little rain at Conondale apparently and we need some.

Weather is looking nice 27 on Friday

G'day viewers does the swap meet still go off big time at CD ? I remember years back it was fantastic, but I haven't been for a few years so just getting a heads up. Jimson
-
most of the swaps are usually done at the camp sites. Some will be in the central area but most you will need to do a good walk around. it makes sense for the guys as they dont want to be away from their stuff or their camp unless they are riding.
-
As above....take pen and paper along on your walk for phone #'s etc

G'day viewers a quick question as I'm not sure if you can pay & ride on the day, as I know you can pre pay. But as I'm one that lives week to week will not know how much I have in cash until the day is here. Probably sounds strange to some, but some body has to be the peasant lol jimson
-
well you maybe able to Jimson. thats a yes unless they get booked out for riders. also i think its $20 cheaper if you do it online and if your on a tight budget that could be a factor. cheers.
CD12 entries close midnight Wednesday
Online entries to CD12 via Nominate.com.au close at midnight this Wednesday the 8th. Please enter online if you are planning on riding at the event. There will be some opportunity to still enter at the track (see Peter Bell in the control tower) but it is much more preferable if you enter online. However, if the entries reach the cutoff by Wednesday night then there won't be any opportunity to enter at the track but at this stage it looks feasible.
-
Thank Pokey, I have a few things to sort out & it's a long way for me to bring a bike & not to ride it. I have a ulcer in my eye & hoping it's cleared enough to ride by the weekend. The bloody thing keeps tearing up. Jimson

Its just crying with joy Buddy. See you on the hill.
-
CD or bust
See you Saturday
-
Woo Hoo - see you there Geoff. It's been a while :o
-
Yes, be good o catch up but can't remember what you look like, although that may be my brain trying to delete such images into my suppressed memory bank. ;D
-
The thing is Geoff we all know what you look like. So there's no escaping us ;D lol jimson
-
Sounds like there will be a few of us Victorians up here , I think we're all keen to escape our lousy weather . Been enjoying the sunshine in Brissy today
-
just cruised into warwick today for lunch with the husky in the back of the ute and I got "violently" light flashed by some trucky..looked like he was calling ET!! thought it was for a speed trap but no sign of a policeman anywhere. guessed he was going to CD and called away on a driving job...poor basket ???

Head count of 9 coming in from WA.
Excited plus 8) :P

Team yellow are on the road .

What a fantastic event! So well organised and prepared. Vinduro was excellent. The legends! Met Stephen Gall, one of my boyhood heroes.
-
Awesome event, ran like clockwork. A massive thanks to all that organised things, especially those from the Sunshine coast club who are truly a well-oiled machine.
-
got a heiki siggy on the sidecover of the 510...what to do :o I rode it of course! big shout out to scmc who pulled off a blinder. highlight of the weekend was a heap of laps around the pre 78 course on one of johnny boags CZ's. never ridden one before and now I know what the legend is all about. awesome fun on the old girl. thanks to wayne for a loan of a short circuit tyre, ripped a dozen or so laps around there and loved it!
-
Fantastic weekend ... just perfect!

Another Cd done and dusted. well done VMX mag and Peter Bell and the crew. Brilliant weekend with good mates. Burgers could have been warmer and nominate could have been user friendly but over all a very smooth performance from a professional crew. Cheers to all involved and all who participated.

Broc Glover came down to our camp on Sunday to have a closer look at my Dot, he spotted it as he rode by after a demo lap. He ended up staying there for almost an hour, just like one of the boys and a real motorcycle enthusiast with a good knowledge and affection for the older bikes.
He wanted to take the Dot for a ride ( one more off his bucket list he said ) but wouldn't you know the bastard would not start, so he settled for a sit on it. While he was there he had a few photos taken with a couple of the boys then had to leave to go and fill some of his commitments. A really nice bloke and interesting to talk to.

G'day Mick, Hannibal was a no show. I can't fit the new carbies to the old manifolds as they are smaller. I wasn't happy but left it to late to sort something out, as always I'm to slow off the Mark with fixing things. Jimson

I always try and support the pro photographers:
1. They make me look good!
2. It encourages them back.
3. I spend about a million bucks to ride - the pics will help when Alzheimer's sets in, so a few dollars more seems worth it to me.
