I believe that as well as the fuel dump point, there will be "Euro Repair Stations" dotted at approx 20km intervals to ensure our European brothers at least get 1 lap in :P

News Just in!! There will only be 3 ERS points this will mean that any bike of European persuasion that is unable to complete the final leg will be shown respect as we are arranging several Polaris quads to Tow them to the finish line. Of Course the Yamaha Quads will be on standby to tow the Polaris Quads but thats a whole other war :P
might be time to get some old enduro results out and total up the figures.... ;D

And that wasn't my card she's going for.......... ahhh, the animal magnetism of the euro riders!
The VERi committee goes to great efforts to enhance entrants riding experiences at all of our events ;D
Fab..... I cant wait...
Oriental vs Occidental, Japanese vs Rest of the World, Big 4 vs Everyone Else...Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki & Kawasaki
versus
Can-Am, Husqvarna, Maico, Beta, Rokon, Triumph, Penton, BSA, CZ, Hodaka, Jawa, Moto Villa, CCM, Harley Davidson, SWM, Montesa, KTM, Bultaco, MZ, BMW, Benelli, Fantic, Hercules, etc, etc...
What about guys that have put a Japanese motor in a Euro frame (like an XL motor in a Maico frame) in order to make it go faster and make it more reliable?
Which team will these poor disenchanted souls enter?
I like the cheaters line, that must be for the jap crap that can't go around corners, and can't shut off throttle because all your hear is baa baa ba.........And he has a snorkel made to lm surprised he hasn't posted the photo yet ;D
Lets hope the the river is deep this year then we will see the euro dominance.
Long live the euro ( bikes I mean)
Even Dennis ktm started after snorkelling the river checking depth. Say no more

Was that the TT Eric? Is it all sorted now?No the IT
Are you allowed to take a pillion?
3 bendigonians are teaming, just need a name that the rest of the team wont vomit over.... ::)
Are you allowed to take a pillion?
Interesting question, id be interested to know the answer to that one. Although i think you're nuts for even considering it, it would make for a great spectacle and achievement if you're the first person to ever complete a Harrow loop 2 up! 8)
What sorta outfit you got planned this year Luffy old mate.
I think the bar was set high last year.
MMMMM what they got planned eh 8)
The entries received to date have the Occidental entries level pegging with the other P'sOS, I mean, Orientals. ;)
Pre-entry numbers are strong even at this early stage so get in and secure an early(ish) start position. Be a bit handy for the Orientals as chances of their recovery will be greater if there are more riders behind them.......
I think I've seen more times a ktm towing them red things then the other?
That's why euros have left handed kick starts, cause your right leg is shagged kicking some jap crap riders stranded machine for 15 mins with not a sniff on going.
Euro riders are ever the optimists

what are you riding?? have you got a scooter sorted?
As a Harrow first timer, and with all this talk about Euro bikes not being any good maybe I should bring an oriental backup bike for my Husky Auto?

Id luv to fix it mate but a yammy is too complex, you would end up with a 3speed ;D
2 cars in the one evening? You had been at the pub and I reckon you might have been seeing double!
How dare you suggest any thing underhanded by the Welsh team we bought our medals fare and square I suggest you take a look at the cheating snail eating french!
Probably belongs to some Jap bike rider that borrowed a European machine to get it and is now trying to raise enough funds to buy a European machine.
Something smells of the Welsh team
Talking of French riders is it true that One has put a Snow Mobile motor in a Hodaka frame with a Rope pull start of a Victa Mower ....
QuoteProbably belongs to some Jap bike rider that borrowed a European machine to get it and is now trying to raise enough funds to buy a European machine.
Well, well, well... I was casually scanning through the Harrow entry list when I noticed that team Husqvarna NSW includes a rider on a... Honda. Trying to discreetly improve your team's chances of success are we? ;DQuoteSomething smells of the Welsh team
They always smell like that.QuoteTalking of French riders is it true that One has put a Snow Mobile motor in a Hodaka frame with a Rope pull start of a Victa Mower ....
Yes. That is 100% true.

1977 to 1984 were white - if you ignore the ITs and the DTs.... :D
I think only one white model IT made it to Aus.
I think the IT 425 was available in white , my Dad had one but I'm not sure wether he brought it home from the USA or purchased it here in Aus.
It was a nice bike for Yamaha ,lots of mumbo , lucky for us next year he regained his senses and the next year he got another Husky

YZ? What're they? No lights, no good!
Far be it from me to cause dissent and rancor within your team Canam370
So, whats this then?
Gentlemen, may I remind you of the XT? Available in stunning white, in both 250cc and 500cc versions!
Its best you do remind people of them - no-ones going to remember them otherwise!
Tex
Now now children, there is nothing wrong with XT's, I campaigned an XT500 for a few year in Pre-85 reliability trials with great success.
If I didn't have the 390 auto to ride, I would have entered on the 500.

'Up for grabs' is a 2014 Harrow Gold medal
Normally one must ride endless hours through mud, slop, sand, creeks, hills, off cambers and over logs all the while continually looking for rare to find arrows in order to find the direction back to the Parc Ferme.
But why go through all that when you can just buy one ahead of time and then brag to all your mates that you earned an elusive Harrow Gold Medal (by way of your healthy bank account)
This item is particularly sought after by owners of European brands as they don't usually make it to the finish, Japanese owners please be aware you may end up bidding against some desperate owners of European machinary that have only ever seen a Harrow Gold medal in the hands of there mates who own Japanese bikes.
Then again if you think this too expensive you could just pay $60.00 entry fee and ride the 3 loops and acquire your gold medal honestly.
You will need a road bike licenceand a pre 85 registered bike (Classic rego is the go these days)

How many water crossings (rivers) do we have this year?
The course is suitable for beginners as well as experts. With the change of format this year the problem of the Glenelg River in bad weather has also been addressed." from Tex.
my taillight globe blew after a1 hr ride (again) whats the penalty for no taillight working???
who knows what that means......
Tex- If you're on a Husky, that's probably a good idea anyway.
ill take your advice tex and go the long way, I hate wet feet! ;D
hitting the water that hard is why its taken 2 years to rebuild it! its not a jet ski.....
It was bloody hard to kick start it standing on 3 spare car wheels, while it was still strapped to a work bench on a centre stand with no wheels in it.
and a spare shocker!
The KDX!!! where are my tickets! :o I put them somewhere I could find them.....
This was my first Harrow and l must say it was an amazing weekend.
l arrived Friday afternoon to a cool wet camp ground and got set up. It rained on and off but the weather forecast for Saturday was for a fine sunny day. It was fairly quiet until later in the night when a lot of riders arrived to set up camp.
Saturday and the sun shone through. The course opened at midday so the morning was a easy one. There was a fuel truck going out on the course and setting up at the 35 km mark. l was thinking the course was around 90 km long at this point so sent fuel out.
There was a real mix of land that we rode over from tight slippery boggy sections, sandy treed sections, open paddocks with outstanding views of the surrounding farmland, plenty of creek crossings and a swampy area finishing off with a crossing of the Glenelg river. The course ended up being about 50 km so l didn't need to send fuel out Sunday as l could easily do it on less than a tank. Sunday was more of the same with some sections better for the traffic and others....not ::) There was also some road riding between sections.
Many thanks to the Harrow community. We had dinner in the hall on Saturday night after the VERi meeting and it was a great feed ! The local police were in attendance both mornings spectating at the start and there was a Troopy ambulance there also. To the locals that opened their land to me for the ride l thank you sincerely for the opportunity, its really beautiful country you have there. l had a great weekend and was worn out ;D
Great job to the blokes who set the course and did all the work there too. It was well signed but l did find myself off course a couple of times in the paddocks admiring the views, just sort of riding along distracted until wondering 'where did everybody go ?'.
See you next year at Harrow :)
Cheers
Geoff

I should also point out for those that weren't there that VERi made a significant donation to the local Bush Nursing Centre, and that local businesses did very well out of the weekend as well. Win-win!
Tex
Yep we will get our 90km 8)
My mistake in the calculation. :-[
8 is 12 , is more like it ::)
so next year we might actually get a 90 km loop shoey??? what have you been telling your women?? 3 is 6 or what!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
What's attacking Den's face!?
When we set the course it rained for the 3 days as we where doing it would have been a lot tougher if it had not stopped.
I think the length for the loop was good
The Jap riders are just sore loser's
The Jap riders are just sore loser's
Not me, my BMW and I were on the victorious Euro team
Does anyone really want a 90km loop?
TBH, the talk of a 90km loop sounded like a negative (although I admired the ambition).
Maybe I'm the only one?
As a committee member i think the course terrain and length was near on perfect…
As a sweep rider i saw that course was enjoyable and challenging
As a interested person talking to riders after the event i was pretty much told it was "FLUCKING FANTASTIC" :)
I think we and especially those laying out the course did a pretty good job
Cheers, Brendan
As this event gets bigger its all about the enviromental impact that we cause longer distance less laps less damage the distance is irrelevant. We want to be invited back .
As this event gets bigger its all about the enviromental impact that we cause longer distance less laps less damage the distance is irrelevant. We want to be invited back .
Fair point. 300 bikes making one pass will do less damage than 150 bikes making two passes, will do less damage than 100 bikes making three passes.
I guess the problem I see is that when you run multiple laps, riders get to choose how much riding they do. A typical vinduro loop of 10~15km gives riders a lot of flexibility to choose how much riding they do - one lap or twenty or anything in between. Obviously Harrow needs longer loops - the question is how much longer.
As the loop gets longer, that flexibility disappears. The casual riders are presented with a bigger challenger than they may be comfortable with (90km or nothing), while the more serious riders may also be limited (90km may not be enough, but 180km might be too much or impossible).
No idea if the new area lends itself to a cloverleaf pattern, but maybe that would a good solution? Maybe one leaf of the clover could be an optional "hard" loop, which would distract/slow down the more gung-ho riders?

Wooo Hooo u got my crash at 4:40 - 4:48 hahahaaaa nice work thanx for that 8)
Good footage of the thundering Tex on his DT125 - I can't decide if you were showing the 600 new racing lines or he was just apprehensive about trying to pass you!
Just goes to show that there are plenty of bikes out there that you mightn't have thought about riding in these events but which are cheap to buy, fun to ride and will complete the vinduro courses
(albeit without any class or dignity)
