I think this is Going to Be Bigger than Ben Her ..even Can Beer its Going to Be BIG ..
What kind of Track is it going to Be ? ? ?
I need to know so I can work Out What Bike to Take Tto This ...
It going to be a Bike Vent that just keep on giving a shit load of Fun ..I can not wait ...
-
Dennis you need to speak with Greg S he will post the track info with the Heaven Flyer ,was given thisFlyer tonight to post by the local Rotary Club, I was invited as Guest Speaker to give them a spiel on the Riders Against Depression Aussie 4 day they are going to come on board to help raise funds for it and will probably donate some of the takings from the Expo .If the weather Gods shine upon us this will be a heap of fun ,a really nice venue ,open bar and live band till midnight on Saturday night I hope everybody that attends has a ball.
-
Dennis it will be similar to Canowindra with a couple of small ski jump. A bit like a grass version of a US TT circuit. Anything set up for VMX or CDT will be fine, except sliders I guess.
All details within a few days. Trying to finalise a few details before the flyer will be ready.
Yes it should be BIG.
-
The locals are very excited about this one, some have even got their sites picked out for the weekend already.
Having attended this show last year the racing is just what this event needs.
Whats the deal with day licences, I have been asked do you get them on the day or organise them in advance?
If they are best organised in advance who should they contact.
-
Visited Gloucester in the last day or so to help Carl and the local guys laying out the track. What a great town. Steve & Craig were fantastic and are the locals club guys.
The flyer will be out over the weekend as almost everything is now in place.
Pre-entry is the way to go and request a 'one event' licence then. There will also be licences available at the meeting we always have a spare dozen or so for late late entries ;) The more entries the better the fun.
We have come up with an interesting format. Well we hope we have should give everyone good racing and an oppurtunity to do well in their final.
Hot showers, some powered camp sites (included in entry fees)
Entry will be $60 (for pre-entries) as usual, one event licence $70, Juniors $20 (12-16y.o.) Pre85 125cc or 85cc moderns
Pre65 & 70 free entry for riders that enter those classes only so get'um out and tuned.
Riders get into the EXPO site free but others will be charged the $15 entry fee for the weekend (<16yo free)
This is going to be fun ;D 8)

So is a 1984 YZ 80 in or out?
-
Why wouldn't it be Ted?
Just cut a small length of fuel line and place it over the throttle cable, right between the slide and the slide cap.
that should tame it a bit if you are worried about it bucking you off :)
I haven't been to one of these showground doo's before, what would be the go for a rear tyre?
Should I fit a trials rear or would a half worn knobbly be good enough to stop catastrophic hook up ::)
Any advise would be appreciated, Thanks.
-
So is a 1984 YZ 80 in or out?
What am I missing ted? I just bought a cr 80 for my boy?
-
My understanding for juniors is :
250 4T cant be on track while a 85 in out there.
125 2T can't be on track while a 65 is out there
As HeavenVMX has not included Pre 85 80cc, just modern 85cc and Pre 85 125cc i am confused.
Seeing as it is a natural terrain track I think up to 150 4T can also run.
-
Ok mate after re reading it I see.
Surely it will be ok to run pre 85 80cc
-
If its a Junior riding? he or she should be able to run with the modern 85cc, witch is still all fun.
I imagine there wouldn't be much point of starting a pre-85 80cc class if there is not enough for a race.
Collate expressions of interest?
Maybe there's more than one? two? more?
-
Ted and Mick have me thinking
Junior is 12 to 18 right due to year rule so I guess this is 85cc to 250f or 125cc
That is a pretty big jump 85SW against full size 125cc (ability also 12 year old going round with a
18 year old )
I am sure there is a ma reason why but why can't you have the following
10>16 years 65cc>85cc BW and run the 16 to 18 with seniors? Or ladies+ 4t
I reckon the gap is smaller/safer and opens up racing from 10 years old. (And yes my son is 10) :)
Sure there is a reason why it doesn't work?
-
MOMS specifies only a maximum 4 year age spread in a single race. Therefore 12-16 y.o. fits best for our club
when a rider turns 16 y.o. they can continue for the remainder of that year as a junior. If they ride a senior race as a 16 y.o.they can not technically go back to juniors.
17 & 18 y.o. are absolutely senior.
The 250F 4T / 125cc 2T are not allowed to race against 85cc 2T / 150 4T. MOMS does not allow 250F in the same race as 85cc as capacity classes cannot be mixed. 85cc 2T and 150cc 4T are considered the same capacity class. 250F 4T and 125 2T moderns are considered the same capacity class.
Junior class at Heaven events is:
12-16years - 85cc 2T / 150cc 4T moderns (small wheel or big wheel no 65cc allowed as it is a different capacity class) or Pre85 125cc. now Pre85 125 in this context also includes Pre78, 75, EVO up to '84 etc etc as usual.
This is all as per the MOMS except for allowing 125 Pre85 which is the 'Heaven' way of encouraging VMX bikes in juniors. the 125cc Pre85 are about the same size / performace as a good modern 85cc 2T 150cc 4T particularly the big wheels.
The junior event is not critical to the HVMX program persay but is offered to allow our members to bring along their kids to make it a family weekend of riding. It is an important class to those families and the races are used to 'space' back to back races for us 'older' kids ;D. I think everyone in the club supports their presence and several current senior riders have come through the Heaven junior class including current Heaven club champ and Pre78 125cc national champ Liam Beverly and 2013 No2 Carl Rindlisbacher.
Ted correct me if I'm wrong but a YZ80L would be completely legal at an 85cc modern race. One of the clubs juniors had his RM80 in the trailer last year at a modern meeting and his 85cc KTM had a very rare failure so he dragged the '78 RM80 out and rode it at the meeting and finished mid pack ;) The YZ80L does not qualify as a Pre85 125cc due to the wheel size as per the MOMS but this does not matter for Heaven as there is only one junior class.
So just to clarify in simple terms the YZ80L is most welcome in Heaven junior races.
We have had this clarified again by a member of the MNSW MX Committee. MOMS only allows juniors to race bikes retailed as MX bikes on a man made track. Bikes such as TTR125, XR80/100 can race on natural terrain tracks. Gloucester is considered man made because it runs under a stadium cross track licence and has man made jumps even if they are only small to accomodate Pre65 etc. CRF150R is considered the same class as KTM SX85 and is sold as a junior MX machine.
We as a club try to encourage families to bring their juniors to Heaven meetings. The posts here seem to suggest that it is being made difficult when that could not be further from the truth. We try to come up with the best possible combination to allow the juniors to take part while still staying within the MOMS rules. If members feel we have misinterpretted a rule or can see a way to improve things then talk to a committee member. We welcome any suggestions as we are just guys that are trying to make the club run for everyones benifit. Other members, more often than not, have fantastic ideas that we need to know about for everyones benifit. Sometimes there is a very good reason that it cannot be done other times we go 'why didn't we see that' but all suggestions are explored.
This forum can not change anything in the Heaven Club the only way to do that is to bring it up to the committee or at a general meeting. Finally we are bound by the MOMS rules so often what looks to be an obvious solution may not be acceptable. A perfect example is juniors at Vinduros, that would be great, but the logistics of acheiving that is a nightmare.
Now can we get back to the approaching fun meeting at Gloucester ;D 8)

Thanks Heaven for clearing that up.
I thought I'd bought the young fella the wrong bike ;D ;D again
-
Thanks Heaven for clearing that up.
I thought I'd bought the young fella the wrong bike ;D ;D again
eons ago I put scrivo's phone# into my mobiles contacts list. I simply saved the contact as "Heaven"
For some reason my phone speaks when it gets an incoming?
Anyhow I get some strange looks, when the sheila inside the phone erupts, and says
"incoming call from Heaven" :o :o ;D
-
Bump, please
I haven't been to one of these showground doo's before, what would be the go for a rear tyre?
Should I fit a trials rear or would a half worn knobbly be good enough to stop catastrophic hook up ::)

-
Go the knobby. I will be bringing my xt flat tracker fitted with a trials tyre but the rest of my bikes will have knobbies
-
Unreal, that means one less thing to do. Thanks :)

We'll that makes 100 % sense.
Thanks for taking the time to write the post.
Funny my son can't wait to ride a "old bike" :)
I never thought he would.
Pretty cool I reckon "build em then race em" he might even learn something :)
Thanks again

-

No age races Ted there will be a qualifying system so that everyones gets into a final.
Only one round of racing on Sunday. Last year at CRC, Canwindra Cup and EVO Challenge meeting there was a massive drop out race during the second round on Sunday to the point that some fields were very small and marshals were hard to organise.

Mick anyone that enters Pre65 or Pre70 or both Pre65 & 70 but no later eras get free entry. If you also enter later eras as well unfortunately you pay the entry fee.
8 Pre65s and 9 Pre70s so far would be fantastic to break well into double figures for both
How is that Pre60/65 Maico going?? My Pre65 BSA will be a no show :'( the '69 Monty GP250 will be there 8) hope the flywheel doesn't try to escape this time :-[
Looks like being a good meeting the public hols has caught people off guard a bit. Entries been pouring in the last day or so.
-
Is the club sending any confirmation of receipt of entry? I've entered but just want to make sure it's been received.
-
I would say that you would be right Pete.
All though it is niether required or necessary, I always send a self addressed, stamped envelope. The turn around then is amazingly quick.
-
Just bring a copy of the entry and payment receipt.

Crystal clear Greg, thanks.
My Bike work has stalled for a while. Been doing foundations and peers with my spare time instead. I am doing better than I have for 25years though. My pre70 will be first. It is nearly ready.
At least you have one of yours going. Good stuff.
Is the pre70 series open capacity? All one class?
-
Is the club sending any confirmation of receipt of entry? I've entered but just want to make sure it's been received.
I am afraid I can not confirm your entry unless you entered as Yamaico as I am always a shocker with putting names to forum tags. If you entered your RD350 D/T master piece (meant in genuine admiration of a great build) then no I have not received your entry. Send an email to [email protected] and I can check. As it is only a club meeting we do not normally send out entry confirmations. If you show up with copies of your entry all will be good.
-

Pre70 is always all powers so we need to shield ourselves from the roost off Noels CZ ;) 8)
I would love nothing more than to have sufficient entries to split both Pre65 & Pre70 into capacity classes :) that would be Ummmmmm Heaven ;D

Thanks for the reply. I didn't enter as Yamaico but knowing that you don't send out confirmation is good enough for me. I emailed my entry and transferred the money so should be all good. Can't wait for the weekend....

I can't wait to see the RD in the flesh!

I have a pile of your self addressed stamped envelopes for sale Mick do you want them at a good price.
I was going to send them to 'Deals Direct' for the spoters fee but if you offer slightly more I'll shuv'em into the largest envelope and pop'em in the post back to you :o ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D jokin OK jokin

Hey Scrivo, Pete(Yamaico) didn't enter an Alpina did he? >:( ::) :o ;D ;D hey theres a plan, is there any law that says you have to race with mudguards?
Pete, I know you are bringing the 400 to ride, but I hope you are bringing the RD as well,
it will make an awesome display, and that is an opportunity that this style of event/venue is begging for to showcase our world8)
I am hoping that some other interesting classics may turn up on display as well, even if they aren't intended for getting down & dirty.

No Alpina entered
There is a show and shine at Gloucester (part of the Expo) and Heaven members will be encouraged to line their bikes up for 30-40min before practice for spectators to have look see 8)
Next Vinduro you should bring your Alpina and I'll bring the Montesa Cota348T and we can have the vintage equivalent of the KTM freerider ride off ;) 8)
-
Hey it sounds good :)
I know Gloucester had this event last year, great that Club Heaven have got into bed with them.
Reasonable assumption that this is set to grow as an annual Gloucester mecca pilgrimage, and hopefully including VMXer's on a regular per/an-um basis as well ;D ;D ;D ;D :) :) :) ;D :) :) :) 8) this thing sounds cooler than snow flakes ;D
I have what I reckon are a few real unusual good sorts to display, but I only have two tracks on my trailer at the moment, one of them reserved to bring the Alpina home ::) a six bike capacity is close, but she isn't singing yet.

I did plan on bringing the RD up Mick, but I don't think I'll have it sorted enough to race. And no, I didn't enter the Alpina :D :D

The Gloucester Rotary club runs the Motorcycle Expo as a fund raiser for motorcycle safety on local roads (Bucketts Way and Thunderbolts Way mainly). Last year they held a recreational ride for VMX bikes and asked MNSW to be involved. MNSW provided a representative to help organise and run the events.
Well done MNSW 8)
The Rotary Club wanted a race event to be a highlight of the weekend and asked MNSW how to go about it. MNSW recommended that they contact Heaven VMX and here we are. Gloucester Rotary Club and local Heaven Member Steve Relf have been a massive help.
again well done MNSW 8)
Well done Steve Relf 8) :) :)
Well done Gloucester Rotary club 8)
We would welcome anyone that wants to be part of the event to flag, help out, display bikes in the Ulysses Club show and shine. See the flyer at the top of this thread.

Rowey's ASTRO
Greg and Dean are both entered so I hope they bring the Astro at least to display. I didn't know tthey had one.
Monty and Bully in the same shed :o ;D ;D ;D ;D joking OK
-
http://Big brother Grant owns the Astro
I think he has been an Astro fan since Jeff Lawrence had one in the mid 70's

Flat track with three very small smooth jumps (will not even trouble the '58 model Jawas) equipment on hand to keep the track that way
-
What no big USA ski jumps ??? ;D
cant wait for this one ;) is NBN going to be there :o 8)
-
Will there be a program/riders list/ comentator, so that the spectators know what is going on.?
-
With the expo side of things what sort of bikes do they get eg Indians, bsa etc
-
A variety of bikes are on display pending who wants to bring part of their collection , the motorcycle museum at Nabiac also bring along some of their bikes
-
Joel is taking his Astro, that will be two lovely bikes and one lonely Montesa. ;D
-
Can anyone south of Sydney transport one bike to Gloucester for me? Happy to drop it around to your place during the week. Please PM me if you have a spare slot on your trailer.
Thanks
Peter
-
Will there be a program/riders list/ comentator, so that the spectators know what is going on.?
I had tee'd Firko up for some commentating but still to confirm that he will be there with the recent situation with his mum.
I will be contacting Pete Ringo and Ted to grace us with their salubrious style of theatre and entertainment with their knowledge of the bikes and riders.
There will be programs available but not sure how many to print 50? 75? 100s?
-
Joel is taking his Astro, that will be two lovely bikes and one lonely Montesa. ;D
5 lonely wonderful Montesa models ;D
-
I plan to be there and not riding so if you need a slave on Saturday afternoon for flagging/scoring etc you can pencil me in.
-
PM sent Pete
-
Do we have access to power plus due to a broken carving tool I will only have a handful of work on offer
-
that's a shame Ekka, I was hovering around your wares at the Vinduro, tasty display, for sure.
the budget was a bit bashed up then, and the Alpina just bashed it again.
But, i am thinking some sort thing is in order
I think this is the emblem on the Bulpina
(http://i677.photobucket.com/albums/vv132/mc125mick/Bultaco-logo-E170CA5466-seeklogo_zps5cf9f631.gif~original)
mabee i only need some sort of a simple scorched thumbs up on the right piece of stump.
Anyhow, it will be there at the week end. So lets catch up, give me some sort of a ball park price please.
You seem to have oots thing going on so probably best just leave the creative bit to you.
-
Think about this for me Ekka

I spoke to yamaico today, he just picked it up for me,
He said Andy is a decent man and the bike is as described, a genuine 600miles on original tyres with no lever marks on the rims. Pete seamed more excited than me ;D I was just hey Sara, Sara, until now, but he has got me going now that I know it is indeed genuine, yipee ki yay, I reckon ::) ;D
So get your thinking cap on Ekka :D
-
You cant do leather work, can you?
maybe I should get some sort of long pouch down the side,
not for a riffle piece, but maybe to carry a big stick or something for protection. Theres a good chance the chicks will go wild when they see this at the local coffee shop(http://i677.photobucket.com/albums/vv132/mc125mick/DSC00900_zps4a99611f.jpg~original)
-
No leather work all wood mate if u print the bully logo the one u want and size and bring it on the weekend cheers Ek
-
Thanks, all my printers are out until I have time to sort it. That is one reason why I have not entered yet. One reason.
Most important;
What about fire wood? do we need to bring our own? or is it sorted?
-
Do we have an update on entries?? How are the Pre 65's and 70's class's looking?
-

Unfortunately we won't be riding Greg, but we are coming up on Saturday to help out.
Thats a bugger Tony, dam hard to get the starts to align some times. Mine are out of whack too ::) ???
I know late entries are a pain for you blokes, seriously If my printers were going I would pre-entered and sprung an excuse, if I couldn't then get it together in time.
if it doesn't rain here Thursday, I will try to get the my Xr500 happening, haven't washed it or started it since it bit me, but it will give me two classes. If I get time I will tie a plank or something on my trailer, bring and enter the pre-85,250 class as well with the 83cr250. If it doesn't precipitate here at rain central on Thursday. So bring save a blank entry form for me please.

What time will the showground be open on Friday to set up camp?
-
Pete, I read it in either the Heaven flyer or Alison's Feces book link. I am 100% certain one of them said camping on Friday from 2pm. One of them also said Firewood is supplied.
-
Maybe SNOW on Gloucester Tops Friday / Saturday nights
Crazy cold
See how good the Weatherman is.

Swap meet and markets would be good ideas but it would be very hard to improve on the actual event. What a great weekend - awesome track, great format that gave everyone a good chance, rocking good band on Saturday night. First Heaven event for me, but it won't be the last. All round great bunch of guys that made me and my wife very welcome. Can't believe I've been missing this all this time.
Thanks to everyone involved,
Pete.

Sounds good

We were blessed to have the professional skills of Diana Hardman and Bill Forsyth capturing the real moments and sights,
But I just got to add this one

Nuh, just kidding ;D the Bulpina didn't have a snow flakes chance at Gloucester ::)
I borrowed Yamaico's trophy while he had his back turned ;D
There was some great competition in the show and shine, but the judges awarded it above all, to
Yamaico's RD Flat Tracker 8)

The RDT 350 is actually way better in the flesh than any pics to date.
And many thanks for safely delivering my Bulpina to its new home Pete and Jacquie(yamaico)

Had a ball - great way to get back to VMX after a few years off. The track was fun and I think everyone was ready to enjoy the weekend after the false starts. Great town, beautiful setting and friendly, positive people. And the band saturday night were way better than The Stones.

Barry unfortunately has a minor (if you can use that word in this context) fracture of the pelvis.
He is a tough ex-speedway rider who didn't make a fuss at all really but the Ambo took a short look and called in the helicopter :o.
Barry is schedued for surgery tonight or more likely tommorrow morning to have two pins installed to go with the plate and screws on the others side of his hip. Like I said tough speedway rider. It was a very simple get off as they often are.
We all wish him a speedy recovery and hope his wife does not ban him from the track :-\
-
We hope everyone enjoyed the event in the end we had 107 riders sign on and take part. The Pre65 and Pre70s had a great roll up with a heap of new faces all round.
We have been invited to return next year with more riding under lights on the cards
-

What a beautiful region, nestled in the foothills of the rapidly ascending Great Dividing Range, to then form highlands known as Barrington Tops. It is serviced by a route called "Bucketts Way", a length of 149 k's. It is a scenic favorite littered with cafe's, hotels, etc. It is a country road, in a lot of places it is a twisty winding dangerous road. As Deb my partner a senior triage nurse testifies, it has at times produced a steady stream of injury and carnage, in particular, motorcyclists.
What a wonderful warm community that is proactive to reduce these numbers through awareness to all road users and combined that with their support for the fight against depression and the sad toll that it also brings to bare.
Would welcome any feedback with regards to Gloucester for next have suggested to Rotary Club maybe a swap meet and markets to attract more spectators, they were blown away with the success of the heaven event, cheers and thanks everyone for making this a great weekend.
What a Great idea Steve. You certainly have the room, facilities and community-spirit for it. I haven't been to a swap meet without a crowd yet! I had told no one about this. Now we have a feel and know what to expect, I for one know 50 or so motorcyclists in this Hunter Region, they are now on the mailing list for the next Gloucester Motorcycling Expo and swap meet.
Huummmm PS; I have a truck load of swap/sell crap that no longer interests me too.
And a big thanks and praise to the warm way your whole community accepted and supported ours.
Take a massive bow, a brilliant weekend of grass routes motorcycling. Thank you to all.

You can watch me put a Green back into the donation slot! If you book that band again 8)
And I will leave my travel larder unpacked, now that I know how good the Gloucester tucker, grog and coffee is 8)

Just to show that the more modern eras did not have it all their own way Dean Rowe top qualified in 'North' group on his FAST Honda CR125M '74
What is the 'North' group well the event was ran using a variation of a compass draw used in many sports to ensure that everyone has the same number of races and makes it into a final that matches their results. We had three very closely matches finals (well except for 'Chook' Cherret in the Presidents cup who had two shocker round results (DNF's) then fired on all cylinders in the final).

Congratulations to HEAVEN for producing the event to revive my moto mojo. I managed to get away from my old mums bedside enough to spend Saturday up there in cold old Gloucester. The event was an absolute blast with very little need of any change......the concept is perfect from the git go. My arthritic old knee decided to chuck a wobbly mid afternoon but that didn't detract one iota from my enjoyment. It was a hoot to catch up with old mates Slakewell, Bernie E, Pete and Jackie Yamaico, Shoey, Col Metcher and many more. Even Little Reggie Firkin had a ball despite having to wear two doggie coats to ward off the cold. I'm so glad the poor bugger who was transported off by chopper is OK and it was good to see Scrivo laughing and joking after his forks came apart in mid air on the orange Monty. It could have been much worse. The show and shine was brilliant and Mick D is right.....Pete's RD Yammy is even better in the flesh than any photo can show and thoroughly deserved to win best of show! Billy Forsyth and I are putting a piece together for VMX so stay tuned..........Apologies also to Ted for sticking him with the announcing duties. I'd promised to give him a hand but got caught up in the social interaction and then my knee carked it so I stayed in my chair. I'll make it up to you. ;)
-
Just got homefrom Gloucester. What a great fun event, well worth the drive. The "round robin" format added interest and racing under lights always adds another dimension. Well done, Heaven.

Congradulations on an epic event.
Any idea on spectator numbers ?.
Three times as many as last year and half as many as next year :) ;D
I think 107 racers entered, and just about everyone has way more than one bike,,,,,class 8)
It is an event to top, simply fantastic weekend, so good to be there.
I checked out the whole joint, hard to see how they could better it, but a swap meet would certainly get some others in. And then they will be captivated by some of the best racing around. It was great to see a young local called Mitch Kellner push two of our top fastest riders home for a very well deserved 3rd place in the Legends TT He worked hard and kept them honest(no offense fellas, but I was cheering young Mitch home. Spectacular racing, for sure. A real spectator friendly set up.

Nice kickin' Dennis!

From that angle it looks like you took out your team mate Dennis ;).
I hope I wasn't too aggressive and offend anyone, it was difficult to overtake and I do enjoy racing ;D. I did have to apologise to Rowy for running him wide, he did build my fast Can Am after all.
A big thank you to everyone that put in the effort to make this terrific weekend come together.

Or will I be forced into the mega expense of a Honda only postie.
-
Posties could be a very popular class next year I think , although it must be compulsory to run trial or road tyres only ,and races (challenges) to be run straight after the water cart has done its thing.
