Quote from Jack Miller when asked about the pesky KTMs in front of him " don't know about that but I need a piss "
While sitting on the start line ;D

I'm sick of hearing the Spanish national anthem.

You're gonna hear it a lot more in the coming years! Thank god for Marquez's stuff up, we still have a title race..
-
Did you see the Jap guy in Marquez camp. Very calm when told he was disqualified. I'll bet he changed his tune when they locked the doors and read the retard the riot act. What a dumb shit
Dungey did similar in the MX today as well. In the 10 lap races you had to use the joker lane once each race. Villopoto uses lane on tenth lap while Dungey doesn't. Dungey first over line followed by Villopoto. Villopoto pulls Dungey over and says why didn't you use the lane. Dungey goes Oh Fark I forgot.
How much are these imbeciles paid

The tyre f up was insane. But it made for a very exciting race and I would like to see more of it. Jorge near catapulted himself off his bike when he hit the picks so hard in the pits while changing bikes! Not happy with getting shortchanged by 8 laps in MotoGP and by about 10 laps in Moto2. Bet that won't happen again.....
Good to see Jack Miller get 5th in Moto3 on a underpowered bike. Ant West is not in a good space and I bet his sponsors are not happy with his grid interview.
And the supercross was good with the skill levels absolutely amazing. Megan Rutledge is insanely good and made the rest of the women look silly. The interviews were shit as the PA was so poor you couldn't hear what was being said.....at least the viewing was better than last year so well done to the organizers.
-
Maybe I'm missing something but I thought the MotoGP was as dull as dogshit. Those bullshit bike change/pitstops are an embarrassing wank. When they have to inject these artificial facets into the race to supposedly make it more exciting something must be very wrong with motorsport. The Joker Lane is another example. Sheeesh.
-
Agreed
-
Nothing beats being there I guess. Like most sport it's best viewed live. Definitely not boring as batshit. Great to see Rossi on the podium doing a Stephen Bradbury. Marquez coming out of pit lane and hitting Jorge was another highlight. You guys are a tough audience.
-
Do they have to change silly outfits, bra and panties too like a club day drongo race?
Is the Spanish anthem in the tune of "Broke again" by the Little River Band?
Anyone tell Count Yorga Lorenzo Silver Gulls are actually a protected species of a shitfully annoying bird in Victoria?
Why is the Australian leg of the MotoGP run offshore?
They shortened the races because Dunlop and Bridgestone claimed (well actually admitted!!!!!) their control tyres would not last the distance!!!!!!?????

Totally agree and due to the shortened race it was over in a flash. I got more enjoyment from the interviews with Casey, Mick and Wayne and the parade lap they did.
-
the shortened MotoGP race with bike change and black flag for Marquez was as unsatisfying as coitus interruptus

The flag to flag race was brought in for serious tyre issues, chunking outside and the race was further reduced to 19 laps after Bridgestone found internal blistering. With top speeds of 215mph and lap average of 110mph there was nothing artifical about the rule being enforced. This was Marquez's rear after just 11 laps. Dunlops from the shortened Moto2 race were worse.

When Chris Vermulen says he was blown away by how fast MotoGP bikes are these days you can be certain they are faster than wheat you ever imagied. What is awesome (unlike F1 or top fuelers) is you can see that is all down to the rider not the machine.
-
I thought it was the most interesting GP of the season.
Notice how Wayne wasn't interviewed at the same time as Mick & Casey.

I fully understand the reason for the shortened races and bike changes but using the premise that motor racing is entertainment.......I wasn't entertained as much as I have been in the past. Surely in 2013 the Dunlop has a compound that can handle the sandpaper surface at PI??? If not, why not?
I've got every race of Wayne Gardner's championship winning season on VHS which I like to go back to whenever I start to get a bit down on GP racing. Every race was a toughie with any one of six or seven racers capable of winning. Compare it to today's MotoGP and you'll easily see how far backwards we've gone.

Dunlop AND Bridgestone din't have a tyre that would hast the distance. Comes from a spec tyre and there was never a tyre test at PI.Without a test they were caught with their pants down about the surface being radicaly different to last year(after the resurface).
Bikes being terribly expensive to produce and run and the ending of the ciggie money sponsorship is the biggest reasons why there are only 6 full factory bikes on the grid.
-
Those horrible caffine drinks have taken over the ciggie money....didn't they have issues at PI with the Superbikes earlier this year?....just bad decisions made by overpaid purse string money shufflers.. For what it's worth, the 3 amigo's put on a pretty good show, pity Casey wasn't in the middle, the others are not up to it....the old man (Valentino) just embarrasses them all...I think he's 34 or something like that....power to him. I'm still over the Spanish National anthem.

How old would Colin Edwards be? It seems like he's been around for 20 years (but I know it's not that long). I wonder what drives him to keep doing it year after year without much success? Most others would have bailed out by now.

He's 39.. He must really love racing to be a former world champ and be happy to run around at the back of the pack on a second rate bike ..!

That's what I was thinking John. You've got to admire someone who still has the fire in his belly, knowing that there's no way he'll probably ever win another World Title even if he went back to Superbikes....

in motorsport is there such a thing as 'former world champ' ? Edwards won the 2000 and 2002 WSBK championships, nobody can take them away from him... it's not like boxing.. ;)
anyway i thought the whole affair was a joke, you can't blame Bridgstone as they couldn't test on the new surface, the fault is dorna's for coming up with the stupid rules in the first place.
good for spanish TV i guess... and thats the most important thing to them

Its a figure of speech, you can't call him world champ because he's not the current champion therefore he's a former world champ..
-
Its been interesting watching the riders as they wait to go out for the podium as they fill their redbullshit or monstercrap bottles with water , watch at the next podium they all do it . the interview with Westy after some promo bloke gave him a hat and tried two or three times to give him a drink bottle Ant just ignored him . The FTR Kawasaki took a big jump in performance recently (pneumatic valve head) to put a privately engineered and developed machine in amoungst factory machines is far from second rate.anyway i thought the whole affair was a joke, you can't blame Bridgstone as they couldn't test on the new surface,
If they had wanted to test they could have, Bridgestone AND Dunlop had chunking tyres caught out buy 10deg hotter temps (ambient and track) and the new surface.
Ant West is sometimes his own worst enemy.

Always was, had help earlier on in his career from his dad who was keen on a bit of biff...

I missed that part of the telecast .. what did he do?

I realise this is OZ, but in the U.S. even George dubullya is still called MR President.

I didn't see it either but I think someone said he ignored the staged energy drink handover. Plenty of other good stories though. Matt Oxley's blog is a good read.

Lozza,as someone whom seems to have their digit on pulse re the Moto GP caper can you give us your opinion on why if Race Direction (or whom ever) deemed that 9 to 10 laps was the safest option on rear tyres (and possably fronts) that were having serious degredation issues that they could not have run race distance and had two bike changes.
Ditto the 600 race, only they would have only needed one bike change to go race distance.
Only thing I can think of that may have thwarted the above option is number of tyres available.
Anyone else got any ideas re the above. I would much prefer the facts but in the short term rumor and innuendo will suffice.
-
While we're waiting for The Lozenge, I'd reckon it was because two sets of bike changes would present the possibility of twice the farce, twice the pit-lane collisions, and twice the re-entry collisions (Lorenzo/Pedrosa-turn 1-style).
And maybe twice the lap-counting ballsups...
As big a schemozzle as that race was, you didn't dare look away for a second for fear of missing the next drama : so much so, that ch 10 ran it ad-free for once !
-
Moto2 don't have a spare bike so couldn't do a bike swap. Could have done a tyre change like the enduro boys I guess ;D ;D
Bridgestone only provide the MotoGP teams with a certain number of tyres - 9. rears and 7 fronts I think for the race meet. Not enough tyres for a second bike swap I would assume. Plus it was embarrassing enough having to swap once.... :-[

As above tyre allocation is strictly limited, with only 2 of the 3 options for rear tyres that actualy work and the softs get used for QP2 to get a shot a to pole. Worse is that the race is at the end of the weekend when they have used most of tyre allocation. A tyre swap on a MotoGP bike is pretty slick operation only something like 20-30 seconds, goes very smoothly with only the axle and axle nut and the chain to remove/install . Brake caliper and chain tensioners all stay in place. Great to watch the slick pit work in the last 10min of QP2.
GD you comig to PI next year?

No, Loz, I'm done. Have admitted defeat in battling with those two numpties in the comm box, and my ticker is shot so have sold the race bike. We have historic nats here in three weeks though, looking forward to seeing, and more importantly hearing Jerry Kooistra's new toy.
