Grateful thanks to Graeme (MX250) who supplied the frame for my "Built-from-spares" machine, it was just what I needed to get started ;D ;D

Looking sweet God, at least you go tyres on. What are you doin with the motor?
-
And it has the same horsepower characteristics as a Bultaco
-
The usual WAITING FOR PARTS >:( >:( >:( >:(
Actually just waiting on my next oversize piston kit and gaskets to arrive, bottom end mostly done except for bead blast/paint and fit magnesium YZ clutch cover I got for $10

I love looking at these projects and watching them evolve!
The marque doesn't matter - the effort, care, improvisation and workmanship on display is inspirational!

cool bike 8) i like it
if it goes as good as it looks you will be laughing ;D
-
C'mon CG get it on utube i want to hear it running. Sure Looks the business well done.
-
You'll have to let us know how them rear shocks go. I think they look soooo cool :) Darcy
-
Jeez that looks good 8) 8)!
For some reason the top end reminds me of the 501 square barrel.
I think it's the big boofy shape, how it almost seems too big for the space it occupies.
And that's not a criticism - it's an observation.

-
I hope so, but the only day I can have off work is ANZAC day and I am chomping at the bit to have a go right now :o :o :o :o
-
Havent you heard of sickies or I think you guys call them doona days? Just the thing for testing a bike. ;D
-
Um, doona days??
Is that an acronym for something?
As Pauline would say, "please explain?"
-
Nice day for a running in ride.... that is until I popped a crank seal (magneto side...phew!)

Hey CG,
that 250 has got a really nice note with that pipe on it, sounds very Crisp! Nice job.
-
That's a great resto CG and I agree with Hoony on the note - sweet as!
All it lacks is a nice caking with CD5 mud!!
-
That wasnt mud it was cement at CD5, The bike is looking beaut CG.
-
Hope to do some of this on the same track later this month....

Fixed the seal and took this arvo off work to finish the running in ALL IS WELL (except for the pipe just barely touching the webco head)
Hopefully work won't keep me too busy next month and I will actually get to race this thing (not very likely as its the end of the financial year >:( >:()
-
hey CG,
what colour silver did you use for the wheel hubs? i'm haveing trouble finding something i like for my MX.
and how do the shocks feel?
-
does look good!

Next time you think your having bad luck think on this....
I absolutely flogged my guts out to get far enough ahead on my work load to have a weekend off to go racing, I fill up with fuel ($95) for the trip to Narrogin from Perth (220K's) load up my van with bike, gear bag, and everything else I need. At 3.30AM Me and my mate Marc hit the road and arrive in Narrogin at 6.45AM only to discover that no-one is there :o I check the printed version of my club calender (VMXWA) and it sayes 22 JUNE Narrogin so I wonder "What the fork" I have my mate ring his Dad at 7.15AM to check on the clubs website but his new computor does not have adobe .pdf reader installed >:( so back to Perth I go :( :( :( when I get home I check the website and discover a venue change on the calender which is different to the one I had printed. So when all was said and done I had wasted almost $100 worth of fuel over six hours of my life I won't get back and the most perfectly clear and sunny day for racing I have seen in a long while all because some worthless motherforker didn't bother to email me an updated copy of the club calender when it was rewritten (I see little point in suppling a club with a personal email address when they NEVER send me a newsletter or any other acknowledgement of my membership with that club (5 months and still no membership card!?))
-
I feel for you Cyclegod!!
Let me start by saying I along with my Dad have run meetings and I know the sport is run by volunteers, mostly very well BUT that sort of thing drives me insane and does no good for the sport. I had a similar experience travelling from Melbourne to Oran Park for a race where the promoter forgot to book the track >:( and didn't notify us until we were all ot the track!!
It was that sort of thing that killed supermotard racing in victoria.... cancelled meetings on the saturday before raceday & constantly rescheduling meetings, people just get sick of it and start to drop off, for me being a shift worker I have to reorganise rosters and beg and plead for race weekends so when they get cancelled its a major pain in the arse.
It makes you appreciate the majority of people that run meetings successfully, they deserve a huge pat on the back because the ones that miss the small details like notifying of cancellations, updating websites etc can really leave a bad taste in your mouth.
-
What annoyed me most was that no-one else seemed to have made the same error, I didn't see another vehicle with VMX bikes on it the whole trip home. It seems all the "CLUB" members knew but not the newbie who is "not in the loop".
-
That's a real bummer! I'd be pretty unhappy too. Luckily in all my life that's never happened to me, although that's partly because I am anal about checking things ten times before I do it...
Anyway, it turns out they must have emailed me because the OzVMX calendar appears to be correct! I feel good because as I read your post I started to get the sinking feeling that maybe my version was wrong too. Whew!
I'm guessing if you aren't hearing anything, including not getting your card, your name must have slipped off their list. Give them a yell and let them know, even the best of us make mistakes. I am sure they wouldn't be going out of their way to bugger things up for you and they'll appreciate the help.
-
Club meeting this wednesday, I'll be there minus the anger to add my two cents
-
That's a lot of miles and a lot of disappointment for such a simple thing as pinging an e-mail to everyone on the database.
Ya know what I hate?
People who put their e-mail address and phone numbers as THE contact for the Club but don't respond to the e-mails and don't answer their phones!
I expressly ask for a response to my e-mails and I leave my phone number on the answer machine.
I mentioned this to another forum member and he said he'd e-mailed the same Club eight times over his two year membership and not one courtesy response!
If an answer to my question is not known then bloody well say so!!
A simple acknowledgement takes about 30 seconds...
-
Cyclegod
I hope you do go to the club meeting.
Will it be your first ??? :o
I am surprised you had not followed up on the lack of membership response given that it had cost you more than half of what it had cost you to get to Narrogin - yet for five months you were not concerned about this ...... ??? ???
Please dont bag the guys that are puttin in there time as volunteers to run a successful club. Given that YOU were the only one to turn up at the wrong venue may be the lack of communication / investigation was from your end.
Get the contact details off the VMXWA web site and make some phone calls about your membership - hey there could be a genuine mistake. It wouldnt be the first in a clubs history. :-\
See you at the next race meeting :)
Steven

Ahoy there CG, try to keep up with the club website mate, there has been plenty of info around re Bunbury including a reminder that it was coming up. What happened to you was unfortunate, but without wishing to appear in any way indelicate, you fell for the old " not enough research' trick. But if you do go to the club meeting tonight, I am sure you will make some contacts, the WA guys are very approachable from President Pete down, and will make you more than welcome. Try not to worry too much, as there are some good meetings coming up, including the Dyjak Park new track, and of course Wandering, it'll be worth the wait. ;)
-
Ok Ok.. so did you take it out for a play and how did it go..?????
hangin out for a report ... ;D
cheers alison
-
Went O.K at Dyback park, until the hand cramps set in :(

That looks like a good track, green grass and all, must have been a fun day. The bikes looking good CG.
-
thats spot on CG! good to see you out here having a go!
Viva la MX~
-
Actually Steven/Alison and others - the VMXWA club has fallen down this year in the area of newsletters! And I dont think there is an excuse for not sending out something via email when all we hear from the club is how they want to be using email instead of posting things out - it really isn't that hard to send out a one liner to the already set up distribution list really!!! Com'on!
I feel for you CG - I would of been spewing!
Now all that aside - I wont be at Wandering but will you be at Narrogin after that CG?
cheers
Rossco
-
Looks Great CG it's good to see ya out cutting laps .I,m spewing the weekends over and i didnt get a ride in . Well done.
-
I'm kind-of financially limited to 1 meet per month (plus the heavy work load doesn't help either) so i will be at Wandering, York, and Beverly (early Oct calender change :o) and possibly Narrogin after. I will spectate at Clackline because a mate will give me a lift (saves petrol)
-
Great stuff Mark.
How the tide has turned now your going and I'm bloody workin.. >:( :'(
Great photos you have there. The VMXWA club may be interested in the one on the start line(did ya get the holeshot ;D ) for the webpage or newsletter.
cheers catch ya track side some day.
Alison pm sent

If it wasn't for the worthless motherforkers you refer to you wouldn't be getting a ride at any venue. I wasn't at the last meeting (first one i've missed in three years due to the fact my two month old was in hospital on oxygen). I hope you managed to get there and air your greivance because the people who give up there time to run this club genuinely try to satisfy everyone, even people who should be able to visit a website like everyone else that managed to get to Bunbury. For goodness sake, I presume from your number of posts on this website you do know how to access info on the web. I'm sure if anyone wanted to volunteer to be the editor of the newsletter this info might be delivered to your door or e-mail box but alas not everyone is willing to help out. Anyway, hope to see you at your next ride and I hope you enjoyed your ride on the weekend. My name is Mike Gordon and my race number is 45, come and say hi.
-
Geez CG, looks like you're going to be very busy next year - in addition to your normal day to day job I assume you're going to be either the editor of the club newsletter or the webmaster or taking on the new position of personally emailing everyone of venue/date changes for racedays! (hang on though - all the other commitee members can manage it so you should be able to cope too - how does the old saying go - many hands make light work!)
PS: THERE IS A NEW REVISED CALENDAR AVAILABLE ON THE WEBSITE NOW DUE TO ANOTHER EVENT BEING ORGANISED BY USELESS MOTHERforkERS FOR YOUR RIDING PLEASURE - if you can't ride that day you're always welcome to help out (flaggies etc are always needed)
PPS: THERE IS A BUSY BEE AT MILLFARM IN WANDERING ON SATURDAY AUGUST 9TH TO SETUP FOR THE MILLFARM SCRAMBLE THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND - START TIME 10AM - SEE YOU THERE!
-
Mike - (hope the young'n is better???) - and Pbear (who shall remain nameless ???) - stop and take your valium eh!!!!! How many meetings have you guys been at where we have complained about posting newsletters to the Bunbury guys and told them to use the internet - many eh! Tell me how difficult it is to send out a one liner via email to the list we should already have together.
Now rather than get defensive - lets fix the communication problem?
Now - we all need to get round in a circle and have a group hug - and if I am prepared to hug Suzuki riders then the least you can do is hug back!!!! ;D ;D ;D
luv yez all!!!!
Rossco

I hear you Roscoe and I agree. The newsletter has found an editor, sad that it has to be the same people putting their hand up to do the job AGAIN. What offends me is people who don't take responsibility for their own actions and like to put the blame for their mishaps squarely at the feet of others. Also you know the people and the hard work they put into making sure we have good events and new places to ride, to have them reffered to as worthless motherforkers, by a new member to the club, on a public forum, is just plain ignorant. Anyway karma can kick arse.
As for hugs, I'm all for it Roscoe, see you at Narrogin late August.

After a blisteringly cold night the MX emerges from the misty two stroke wasteland of the Millfarm scramble.

Great job CG ... which track is that? I'm still trying to squeeze my way past the front door (I have a big door stopper who answers to the name of Wife) so I can get to a VMXWA meet. Mud! I don't like mud. The first 3/4 of Dyback Park last year claimed me and knocked off my clutch lever. As slippery as ice.
Great job on the bike. I'll look you up around rthe traps this season. - Felix 717

That track is Narrogin, I've posted a second video but it hasn't been released by Youtube yet. Next race is in 3 weeks at Collie, lots of sand but no mud.

Numbers dont meet regs unless they have come up with a new arial font, so there another project to fix CG before the next meet or they might let you sit it out ;D ;D ....
on another note, not related 8) 8) i try to keep our clubs forum calender/ website up to date so its up as soon as a change happens, but which handfull of people do you think actually go online to see the changes, they reackon its tooo hard....... not as freakin hard as someone calling them on the off chance there coming or in fact there membership is actually up to date so as to warrant us posting them anything.
i cant get why folks cant get into the 20th century, how many old guys on here use the PC ? heaps and they do a great job of navagating and posting pics etc, and those dummies cant even open a web page, now im not saying Cg is in the wrong, but im just saying it amazing me homw many people still find it hard to look up online, yet its the 30 sec option and saves som many hours just like the emailk thing does for everyone.
i think next meeting ill make a fire and send smoke signals...........
now you boys play nice. specially you Ross or you know whats coming........... ;)
-
Marc has more pictures than me, I just haven't got hold of his SD card yet to upload them.
In response to freakshows belated comments, a great deal of work was done by the commitee and club captain to update the calender and newsletters, my only gripe from last year was the 36 hours notice for the Northam motorcycle festival hopefully a better effort will be made next time.
One new update is the success of the flaggie roster system we had a full compliment at Narrogin (nearly ran out of yellow vests ;D) and Marc and I will do our duty on May 17th and "fly the flag" for the club.
-
...adding bauxite to the sand at Collie track...
Help me out here pls. What does bauxite do to your track?
I've never given a thought to bauxite - we export it ... don't we? :-\ :-[
-
ahh bless ya Wombat ya bloods worth bottlin. ;D
Bauxite has wee rocks and clay particles-yep we export it as Aluminum- but has been through the baya (?) system though.
Is it you, that lived in WA for a few years and also loved our sand ???.
Thanks for that Alison...and yes I lived in WA for three years, top spot indeed.
I think you posted photos of a WA mud race and I asked if you'd had the mud imported from over east or some such thing. ;)
I didn't ride bikes during my time there but I couldn't help notice all the sand.
WA; Australias biggest beach! and a very nice beach it is!
