Hi Dan any chance of combining some of these classes and starting the day
earlier so as to get in 3 - 4 hours of practice. This may encourage more to
come along therefore having more riders there to flag and avoiding a repeat of last years
Evo Challenge at Clarence. Just a thought, cheers............
-
Wotto,
I hear ya but with the Evo Challenge last year, there were a number of factors I think that lead to the down turn in numbers for the event. Problem with combining classess is that there are a number of guys riding two or more classes in the same era. Lakes has been a very popular track for HEAVEN riders over the last couple of years and I believe that there will be a heathly amount of entries in each trophy class. We shall just have to see as the entries roll in and then make a call. Hope to see you there. Cheers.
Dan
-
Hi Dan,
Put me down to flag on the Saturday, as a non EVO rider i'll only be riding on the Sunday but happy to help out, any others out there?
Mike #278
-
Mike,
Thanks for that. What about the Pre 78 race though? Would you like to run in that? Have you got the Can Am runnin yet? Cheers.
-
Hi Dan,
will there be a special entry for this or just enter on a standard form .
Cheers
Noel
-
Hi Dan
I agree with Wotto's comments that we need more practice on the Saturday alot of members purely attend these meetings for the Saturday practice/social ride, I think by limiting it to a 1 hour session will limit entries and limit bike set-up time etc.
I would like to see a full days practice on Saturday and the evo challenge races run on Sunday morning with the Heaven round following the completion of this.
Just my 2 cents!!!!
Damo
-
Hi Dan
I think the format looks great. Its only once a year that you run this for the Evo/Pre85 class bikes. I am looking forward to it. When will entry forms be available?
Cheers Neil.
-
Guys,
The entry forms have been sent to the administrator to upload onto the net and also email out to members so hopefully that will happen over the next couple of days. If not, I shall start to email out entry forms to members or any potential new members that wish to attend the race.
I take on board all feedback regarding the format and appreciate it. Thanks.
Dan
-
Hey Dan,
Is there only one Juniors race on Sat? (Race 4 )
-
Yeah, it fits into the age race category. This may change depending on entry numbers though. If any classes end up combined due to entry numbers ( and no issue of riders wishing to ride both classes), we may slip another race in. All depends on entries recieved. Cheers.
-
Dan
Want to ensure a good turn up of riders for the Saturday's racing
add in Pre 90 (they are 21 plus years of age) and a couple of more
junior racers.
A blokes got to keep trying, Pre 90 is the future of VMX! The class is going strong in Qld & Vic, it's Vipers most
contested class. Check out their point score. Over to you Damo, Sugar, Neily and the rest of the young one's
(40ish) of Heaven VMX. Cheers from the old Dude with the trailer full of 89 CR's...............
-
I cant be there early enough to ride on Saturday, but would like to ride sunday. Will there be scrutineering and practice Sunday as well?
-
Cheers from the old Dude with the trailer full of 89 CR's...............
Too Funny.. ;D ;D ;D
-
Cheers from the old Dude with the trailer full of 89 CR's...............
Hey Wotto ya old palooka. You must have sold a few if your down to only 89 CR's ;D ;D ;D ;D
What do you reckon about a Pre '90 ride weekend at Louee sometime soon?
Cheers
Shaun
-
That be good Bud but Louee's a bit cold at night
at the moment. October on it starts to warm up.
We should lock in a date.
As for PRE 90 I'm told if Heaven dosen't pick it up next year there is a
modern club based in Sydney keen to accommodate PRE 90 and PRE 85
with a combination of MX and Grasstrack so either way we should be racing
them next year in NSW some where. So all is good Doglips.
-
A bit cold..tch tch
Harden up you poof!
-
Yeah Ted (Edward) it is a bit to cold for this old fella
and incase your looking for your slippers you left them under my bed, bitch.
-
Sunny weather finally here, should dry the track out for perfect racing condtions. Just over a week to go, so keep the entries rolling in. Cheers.
-
Hi Dan
Looking forward to racing at the Lakes next week. I didn't get the flyer with the broadcast email but just been sent a copy. The online entry said $50 entry when I had a look but I see the flyer says it's $70 for the two days. Fair enough given there's trophies etc. but I imagine that there would be a fair few people that travel and can't make it for the two days of racing. Is it the same entry fee for just one days' racing?
cheers
Woody

Hi Dan
Entries closed yesterday for the Evo Challenge.
How many entries did you receive?
Is the plan still to only have 1 hour of practice on Saturday?
No chance of a repeat of last years Evo Challenge at Clarence is there.
Only asking as my son and I would love to ride this track on Saturday but unfortunately the Evo program
doesn't cater for the bikes we currently race. Cheers..........
-
Wotto,
Entries officially closed yesterday evening but still taking them. Even with the late notification etc there are still good entries so far. Certainly nothing like what we had last year ( they were ecxceptional circumstances ). There will be some entries that will still roll in up until friday night I am sure and even on the morning of the event.
As for the program, it is still the same as originally posted. This is the format that was decided upon for this years event but who know's what format next years committee shall adopt and what the classes will be?
Cheers
Dan

There is a club that will probably "run it" and they are a great bunch of people, but there are a few catches to it or to put another way, lots of work involved.
You must join the Club
You must form a sub-comittee
You must have good financial plan , dont expect them to run a meeting with out a financial plan , they wont entertain losing money just for the fun of running a meeting.
Try and bring some sponsors
You must develop a team , also club members, to execute the works required to set up the meetings
You must find the course to run on
With the assistance / overview of the club Sec. , You will be required to handle all the administration associated with the meeting including applications to MNSW , organising the Ambo's , flaggies etc.
If required ,You must if required , liase with the landowners and handle the track licensing including inspections if required.(If its an existing facility , well just the general requirements apply)
Generally you need a good team and must be self sufficient. (Thats all they asked and thats very fair and reasonable)
The club will supply officials to run the event, providing you have given sufficient notice of your intention to run a meeting
If you are very organised and go about your business with little fuss they are a great resourse to use.
We are members and have run a number of successful motor cycling events with the club , which have been loads of fun.
Its certainly not easy but it is loads of fun
-
Hi Shoey, so it's not just a rumor I've heard. Which club is it? I for 1 would be keen to be involved
with the organising side of things. I don't believe the sponsorship would be too difficult to arrange, with
the attraction of a stylish newsletter/race program businesses would be more likley to come on board.
I would rather Hevean VMX to pickup Pre 90 and run with it but if it has to be another club so be it. Cheers.....
-
Talk to Damo , i think Damo may have spoken with one of the club officials at recent event.
I myself, have no interest in running moto cross meetings.
I also agree that it would be good for the Heaven Club to host the pre-90 , maybe not at the moment but definetley in a few years. I'm out of touch with the moto cross and Heaven thing so my views in respect to classes is just an observation.
-
At the end of the day, Pre 90 for the HEAVEN club is up to the clubs members. If the members decide that they want Pre 90 included in the race format ( remebering that any bike can be ridden on the Saturday Rec rides ), then they can make it happen by following the process as set out in the clubs constitution. All it needs is somebody ( or a group of people ) to be the driving force behind it to make it happen.
-
All it needs is somebody ( or a group of people ) to be the driving force behind it to make it happen.
Agree,By starting a new Pre90 club at grass roots level at least they can build on them selves and it solves all problems of a break away group in the future.
Oops hope this doesn't turn to a pre 90 20 page topic- sorry
cheers from the newly emerging west 8)
-
Dan it was in the consitution. It did read that the club (Hevean VMX) would cater
for bikes of 15 years of age and greater. I know this as I was a sponsor of the club
in the early days and when the original consitution was put together I printed approx
250 - 300 copies for the club, but someone along the way found in their wisdom
to have the consitution changed.
-
Fair call
But it's also the responsability of the committee to guide the club members in terms of long term viability and to insure the "long term" future of the club.
Forward planning for change only affects long term viability of any organisation in a positive way.
-
I hear ya Wotto, but I am only offering information on the way for it to happen from this point on. We cannot change what has happen in the past, we can only work with what we have at the moment.
I totally agree with Shoey in regards to the forward planning and long term viability.
I personally ( my view only and in no way speaking for the current committee ) beleive that Pre 90 will become part of the HEAVEN clubs format but not sure when. Again, THIS IS ONLY MY VIEW.
-
Hi
I will put my few cents worth in here.
I am with Dan. I have had several discussions with a couple of you that want to run a pre 90 and at this stage that is about 3 people.
As I have said before to you if you want to change something in the club, get together, become involved, help out, form a quorum and lets put it out for a vote. The committee can only guide the club.
I personally don't have anything against the pre 90, but it has to come from the members.
And Damo and Wotto there is plenty of riding over the 2 days, its called racing!, so I hope you have entered.
I heard the club that may want to run the pre 90 maybe Manly??????
rgds
Carl Blecher
-
Hi Carl, so it's Manly. I heard possibly Oyster Bay. Maybe theres 2 other clubs interested.
I'd love to race the 2 days this weekend but I woke up 1 day recently and found I only had
moderns and PRE 90's in my shed. I had a couple of Evo YZ's but you stole them from me. Cheers, Wotto.....
-
All good stuff guys but back to the original intent of the post - 2010 Evo Challenge
Forecast is for the weekend as follows;
Friday - min 10 deg with max 17 deg, overcast with possible shower of up to 1mm of rain.
Saturday - min 8 deg with max 19 deg , no rain in sight.
Sunday - min 10 deg with max 19 deg, no rain in sight but windy
Slight chance of amber fluid being consumed to excess with high chance of fun and good times!
Perfect weather for racing so even if you can't or don't want to race, good opportunity to get out for a great weekend at the track!
-
Hey Michael you wanna buy a Pre 85 ..huh huh
Seeing as you aren`t going this weekend, Clean out your trailer and i will swing by tomorrow to load it up with Heaven legal bikes
Gave up smoking 2 weeks ago ( thanks to Mrs S for Brains )...If i get thru this weekend i may stand a chance
-
No hope Eddy the boy and I will be going to Mt Panorama Sunday to do a club day (moderns)
and maybe play in the snow. I'm sure it will be 10 - 12 degrees warmer at Lakes. Don't be afraid
to turn the throttle on that 5 hungey, braappppp. Cheers.........
-
A big congratulations to the Heaven Committee and Lakes MCC for organising a great meet. The track was in fantastic nick and there was some great racing. Well worth the trip.
Hope that Scotty Copeland is doing OK.
-
Great weekend thanks guys fora great track and a well run meeting

Racers Weekend Review -
What a weekend. An EVO Challenge to remember. Highlights of a brilliant track, prepared bikes, weather and post race fellowship.
Entry levels were good. Average around 20 racers in the EVO 250, 500 and Fourstroke events. Bit less in the other classes, plus age races including our (ever faster) Juniors. Reviewing the official race programe for this event shows the Jap bikes were the weapon of choice. Plently of YZ, RM, KX and CR with a sprinkling of Euro beauties from Scandinavia and Western Germany. Several brave soles deared to be different, riding a Can Am, Montesa and a KTM. With mixed results.
Around sun set the results from the day were put on display. Trophies handed out. Shots of Fernando Fire Water for those brave enough. Absynth was in the bottle - banned from most Countries for its hypnotic effects when drunk without moderation. After 6 shots, the author had no more pain in the body or issues with being taken to bed by 4 bright green fairies. Race talk around the open fire at Pete's Big Bus topped the night off for those left standing.
The day was not without incident. Scott Copeland got off his 1984 KX 125 over the centre table top, resulting in a broken tibia. Latest info from Dan is he needs surgery in Sydney. Speedy recovery Scott and thanks to those who assisted. Capt'n Carl coped a rock just below the left eye - result - 3 stitches and a tuff looking Capt'n.
Special mention to the winner of the Pre 78 under 45's - Heaven's No. 1 plate holder - Sean who was the only entrant.... Why make it so easy for him is the question?????
To be conintued
-
Scott Copeland had surgery today in Sydney, tranferred from Newcastle at his request. 5hr Operation apparently :o many plates and screws involved. The tibia had multiple fractures not far below the knee. I spoke to his wife as he had not returned to the ward at that stage. Best wishes to Scott for a speedy recovery.
-
Really enjoyed the weekend, thanks to the Heaven comittee for making it happen.
The track was in awesome condition, a little bummed that only the Juniors enjoyed the full length track.
Hope Scott has a speedy recovery.

Hey Damo you could always put your age down with those youthful good looks no one would know.
Stewart,
Do you really think so :)
Don't think Dan or the committee would support it though, probably easier just finding the 3 or 4 extra flag marshalls :o :o :o :o :o :o
-
Extra flag marshall's are about as common and easy to find as a brand new & never started CR250RZ :o :o ???
-
Still not as hard as finding somewhere to race your PRE 90 bikes in NSW, hey Damo.
-
Hey Wotto,
You crack me up dude ;D :P ;D

Still not as hard as finding somewhere to race your PRE 90 bikes in NSW, hey Damo.
We have a Pre 90 class at Hunter club and as not to discriminate, we let up to 2010 models have a ride in the same class, also riders over 35 get to have a ride as well ;)
-
Hey Turtle,
You crack me up dude ;D :P ;D
Birko. PS, Thanks to all had a great weekend.
-
Hey Damo, just finished speaking with Tony Abbott on radio 2GB and he's right behind
your push for PRE 90 and more flag marshalls for NSW. He agrees NSW is WAY behind
the other states especially as PRE 90 is to be a Australian title class as of next year.
You really do have some pull in the right places. See you tomorrow at the PRE 90
committee meeting, we'll sink a few bottles being Friday arvo. Cheers from the Captain.......
I know, I know I crack you up dude.
-
Geez, here we go again... Just so's you all know, this one is going down the tubes isn't it? So, I'm gonna delete the last several posts. Please leave it there or I'll lock the thread entirely. Let's just keep it civil, OK?

Three posts snipped.

Nobody from from our club has contacted me regarding any inquiries regarding people wanting to run some pre-90 events.Dont be shy guy's , make a plan and make your pitch

To say I am totally disgusted by Wotto29's mouthing off at me,is an understatement, but given his standing and reputation,I think I will survive. It appears thats he has done his usual party trick, mouthed off; abused people (poor little me in this instance)and then run off home with his bat and ball, typical of this guy.
A real man with ticker would do as Shoey said above and stump up and help get Pre 90 up and running, but my old 'mate' would rather throw verbal hand grenades from behind lines.
By the way I am a Pre 90 fan but given I now live in New Zealand (for nearly 4 years)I unfortunately cant lend a hand in NSW.
Good luck guys.
Over and out.

I wonder why you felt the need to poke your nose into VMX in NSW?
Until your interjection this discussion was light hearted and tongue in cheek amongst guy's who know each other pretty well. Then you come along with your attack on Mick saying he should put his money where his mouth is, talking about the amount of HEAVEN events he has attended etc. This resulted in him arcing up and having a go back at you, which I think any of us would have done in his situation.
This gets him banned by Graeme while you continue on your merry way with your childish gibbering as evidenced by some of these classics;
"CMD,given you are selling your Honda, you are hereby banished from this section of the Forum.I suggest you retire to the gardening/transexual cross dressing geriatic forum (kawasaki) where you belong!!"
"I guess the HIV is taking a real hold of you.
Get well soon my 'little' retarded friend"
"Its all about my y fronts"
"Ha ha pulling out the grammar call are we retard boy??
Is that all you got bearch??? You deserve a Kawasaki you idiot"
"True, but at least I dont swallow like you bearch!"
So can you do us all a favour and shut the fork up about things that really have nothing to do with you. Tool.

Shawn and Damo
I used to be a Heaven member from 2001-2007 so forgive me for sticking my nose in.You are very correct its not my business, and in hindsight I probably shouldnt have had a shot at him on the forum.
But if you knew why I did Damo, I am sure you would understand, given the grief he caused a very good mate of yours whom you knew very well.Better yet why dont you guys ask Wattsy why I had a shot at him,I would be interested if he told you the truth.Feel free to email me your telephone numbers and I will give you a call and let you know the truth any time you like [email protected]
In the interests of letting sleeping dogs lie,I wont repeat the story here, but needless to say my memory is long, and when I saw Wattsy whinging about Heaven not having Pre90, it brought back some very unpleasant memories, but you are right,I shouldnt have done it on the forum.
Shawn,I am truly sorry for upsetting you with my inane comments, they do appear childish in isolation, but when put in context of the discussions I was having at the time, they are all above board, but forgive my sense of humour, its obviously not your bag.
As far as feel remorse for my comments to Wattsy,I am afraid I have none,he deserves everything he gets.
-
Leave it there before anything else is said.
Lock it up.
-
Ted,
Dont worry mate I won't put the reasons for my hatred of that 'man' on here. Those that matter know what went down at the time.
I guess rightly or wrongly, I couldnt stand back and be silent after what this bloke did to a very good friend of mine, who is sadly not here any longer.
Graeme I apologise for this going down mate.Feel free to can me off the Forum, to be honest I have a very dirty taste in my mouth after having exchanged verbal blows with that sewer rat.
-
You guys crack me up dudes ;D :P ;D

I did say we should stop there, this isn't the sort of thing to air on a forum. No-one has been banned, but the thread is now closed. Let's move on.
