Great shots, superb bikes. Reminds me of being a young bloke out at Brooklyn watching the guys go around. Great memories. J

Slightly off topic but something I've wondered about for quite a while, what was the reasoning for sidecars being built to run the opposite direction around the track to solos?

Not being a speedway sidecar guy although am in awe at their ability.

I would suggest that it would have to do with most British Commonwealth nations (the origin of speedway) drive on the left side of the road and therefore the sidecar is on the left. As the original racers were just stripped road sidecars it would be natural to turn right?

That has always been my take on it as I have also pondered the same questions while standing open mouthed watching speedway sidecar guys do their thing 8)

Am I correct?

I've wondered the same thing. Commonwealth angle seems logical. Auscar went the other way to NASCAR out at the Thunderdome for obvious reasons but no apparent reasons for sidecars??? J

If the side of the road that was driven on was the reason then why don't solos go the same way?
I enjoy watching them run, our local guys are 1,2 & 3nz at the moment, from memory 1 & 2 retained their placings from the 2012/13 season. The swingers are the nutters, trusting someone elses throttle hand when there aren't any brakes
