Here is a clip of the runner at a private track a while ago, have started on the scoot and have had Radchrome redo the fork tubes, cleaned greased and painted the front brake, cleaned the frame ready for blasting painting...trying to get a RAL code for the paint... starting to get keen.

biggest issue is the 3 4 and 5 gears...badly corroded in the bit sticking out of the gbox oil :-[ also the main gear shaft has some pits as well... thats what its all about..

mate raced a kwaka 9 speedway outfit in the 80's. i had a ride on the chair once and decided ïts not for me"... his short career was interspersed with significant bingles. the best bingle had the outfit 10 metres in the air with the rider and passenger not far behind.. it landed on its back more riding that day.

another close one was at the bendigo speedway when curly spun out in the first turn... he just got it straight when clarri jones who had bogged the start came thru and punted them down the straight back to racing speed and they were off and running.

last time i went i rode the track on a 400 enduro with 10" travel and it was fun until a short kicker jump which had a real splat landing hard down onto a flat ground gave  me a jolt in the shoulders and wrists every lap. On an old cr 250  greenback!!?? i couldnt entertain the thought at all. yet a youngish bloke the year before flogged an old bsa mx bike around there like he was mr mx. its the age factor i think. a lot of keen vmxer's over the last 10 years are hurting more and looking at vinduro short track etc.

A rattle gun will usually spin out the bolt without having to use a damper rod holder.

Even wacking an allen key with a hammer can sometimes crack them...leave the springs in and push down on the forks (upside down) to tension up the damper rod as you try to undo it.

maxima 727 castor at 30:1 should be all you need. smeelllss so good (when your second) air filter clean? muffler freshly packed?

if your talking about the start up missing and clearing out till it warms up, all two strokes do that and dont worry about it.

if it does it all the time then try this...

sounds like your needle clip needs to be dropped 1 notch or lifted 1 to clean it up. if it hesitates or feels like its dragging a bit as you open up, the needle clip may need lifting 1 to lean it out a bit.

if its missing a bit as your roll on the throttle a bit, it may need lowering 1 clip to richen the mix going on to your main jet.

try leaning the needle 1 clip and see if this smooths the hit. does it feel like its dragging a bit before the top end rush? it may be a little rich on the bottom. you could try dropping the pilot jet 1 unit as well as get the airscrew out to 1.5 turns.

check the float level is right as well.

packing the muffler with steel wool instead of glass can also give more bottom end.

with the mods to the bike, its hard to make any simple suggestions without going "mechanical"as sleepy suggested.
