hi all, can an IT 490 ign (stator and flywheel etc) be utilised on a yz 490 ?

Vinduro / Australian 3 Day Vintage Enduro- event notes...

Just competed in the inaugural Australian 3 Day Vintage Enduro for pre 88 muddaboiks. full competitive timecard event with transponder special test timing. My first Multi event. while there is lots of stuff on FB, i thought i would post something here for those not seeing that stuff.
my prep for this event was poor, i had left the prior two weeks free but with a sudden job out of town and family commitments that suddenly materialised i was only able to get to the bike on weds nite. A test ride of the LC 400 twin shock a few weeks before revealed the 34 year old shock seals had failed!!
must be warranty on these surely?? 
. so they got sent to the mr mcHanics for a new set. As there were 3 special tests that i did intend to walk all this intent vanished and as things happen, on the thursday morning of scrutineering i had the front wheel out awaiting a HD tube, and having read the GCR's realised i had no x brace pad, sidecovers on the bike and the stand needed fixing! Additionally a noise and light test :doh: so arrived at the site late, passed everything and put the bike into impound....Realising i had only half a tank 
From that point, after 300+ kms in the slippery greasiest rutted rocky tree root infested sections (was lots of easy stuff too) all i had to do was fuel it, lube the chain and tighten the front axle nut once. cant ask for much more than that from a bike.
Highlights were the special tests, so great to ride! Hats off and a big cheer to the team for the commitment and work on them. (Having NOT walked the tests i got lost in every one
) The powerline red clay slippery slide was pretty awesome as was the swamp with the red clay exit wall. the mix of trails and road sections was pretty good as well. its a 10 / 10 score from and im looking forward to the next one.

looking thru a folder of race results i found a page from the Mt Despair Supa Challenge in 1984? I see i managed to beat a young G Morris in the Hare n Hound section...woo hoo has made my day. (assuming it is the GMC we know

are these the same unit? or different beasts?? mate has an 84 490L with a poohed shock body, will the yz one fit?

been carting these around since the 1980's 1 pair of early koni style shocks, rusted shafts, no oil, springs have yellow and purple codes on them. they are not Koni's but i think they were S&W's of a mates ts 125.
2nd pair are red (whoo hoo ) ~15" long with black springs, much bigger that the koni style in better condit but will need full reco. i suspect they were on a red tank xl 350 i bought and the arse was 6 feet in the air so i swapped them out for something suitable... it had a 420 kit and... never mind
dan murphys card for a 6 pack of stellasand postage for the lot. (with the price and quality of shocks you can buy, its only a period correct issue that anyone would want these)
let me know if you want pics, i cant get them up on here. in central vic

im thinking of getting a two bob sandblaster for ~300 bucks or so...anyone tried one??? ive got a few jobs...trailer, landcruiser chassis and a fergy to do as well as lots of little clean ups. looking at "farsands"to get it done outside

soaking wet bathurst,..turn on teh the Teev at 3.00 and see 1. its wet 2. dont know anyone in the top 5?? lowndes and richards are 18th...several safety cars and whatever and they hardly went anywhere?? i guess they are just like us know....
