here is my Suzonda.....RM125X fitted with an overbored XL185 engine.

no motocrosser but a damn fine traibike that served me well for years.

note the long range fuel tank for big trips, counterbalanced by the army surplus catridge box/come toolbox on the front

Honda / Re: XR200 kickstart slippage
« on: April 18, 2012, 09:15:31 PM »
it is an internal slip that happens, you will need the two ratchet gears and sometimes the gear on the shaft behind the clutch basket.
this problem is usually caused by not having the auto decompression cable hooked up or adjusted properly. We all know that they can be started without the cable but the trade off is the wear on the gears

I have used the XR piston....it is bigger in the bore but a little shorter in the hieght between the pin and the piston top which leaves it a couple of mm below the top of the bore at TDC.

The extra bore size must nearly make up for the lower piston hieght.

I ground a groove in the top of the piston to replicate the original one for the inlet valve clearance

This setup worked for a couple of years hard racing for me and as far as I know it is still working for its present owner

General Discussion / Re: What is this thing called carbon tax?
« on: July 06, 2011, 07:28:09 PM »
come on you guys, wake up and realise how this is going to affect our VMX racing.

You all should know how much carbon is building up in the cylinder heads, ports and exhausts
of all our beloved race bikes ;D

If is costed by the kilo then who can afford to run a two-stroke ( or a worn four stroker )

I can see It now at the nats........ a teardown and decoke with the carbon police wieghing it up  ???

General Discussion / parts from U.S. via third party ?
« on: December 02, 2010, 10:18:24 PM »
is there a reputable place, person who I can get to recieve pre paid parts in the US and then on send them to australia.

There are still many companies that won't ship to Australia.

I expect there is a fee or commission ?

I will have ongoing purchases, so I want it to be a commercial deal rather than a favour from a VMXer

any ideas?
